NEW ENRICHMENT COURSES LAUNCHED

A new Academic reading and writing course will be rolled out to provide additional support in language proficiency to students undertaking their Online Literacy and Numeracy Assessment (OLNA) next year.

ASC International will provide the support for 2022 OLNA students, offering both reading and writing modules taught by specialist teachers from the ASC Language School.

The program will be run both on campus and online to ensure all students can access the opportunity. Each module consists of four two-hour classes held over a four-week period.

Senior Secondary students wishing to fine tune their English proficiency, academic writing and study skills will be offered the Academic Writing Flexi course. This course offers five modules that aim to assist students with notetaking, essay writing and report writing.

Catering to the learning needs and time constraints of senior students, this course has been designed as a series of self-directed modules to be completed over a six-month period. Students can work through the modules at their own pace while being supported

by a teacher at regular intervals through marking assessments and individual consultation sessions.

Director of ASC International, Amanda Fritz said both students and teachers had identified the need for supplementary and support programs to help language proficiency, study skills and overall self-confidence.

“All courses are designed to prepare students for their next phase of study or life journey,” Mrs Fritz said.

“We have customised these courses to meet this need and we will deliver the course both in classrooms and online to ensure it is easy and affordable for any student to learn the course either on campus or via remote learning.

“As a Microsoft Incubator School, ASC Language School uses the latest Edutech tools and platforms which are safe, secure and user-friendly. Any student wishing to improve their English and study skills will not be disadvantaged due to time and geographical constraints.”
