Santa Makes a Splash in Anglesea!
Everywhere else in the world, Santa arrives in a sled pulled by reindeer. Here in Anglesea, he makes more of a splash, arriving by surf boat on the main beach, where he delivers joy - and bags of mixed lollies - to hundreds of eager children waiting on shore. With the aid of volunteers from the Anglesea Surf Life Saving Club, the man in the red suit has trawled the ocean by surf boat, from Point Roadknight to Anglesea, since the mid 1960s. Hundreds of children watch for Santa to cross the waves, hoping he doesn’t wipe out on Christmas Day (there has been big surf some years). Santa’s red sack is full of treats donated by the Anglesea Surf Club, where Santa’s little helpers spend Community Houses are for Everyone
many hours putting together lolly bags in preparation for the big day. Some children are lucky enough to also have a photo taken with Santa on the beach before he dashes off to continue spreading joy and delivering presents across the land.
All children are welcome to greet Santa on the Anglesea main beach, where he arrives by surf boat at 10am on Christmas Day.
