PRESS RELEASE 21 NOVEMBER 2016
CHANTAL STOMAN “Phnom Penh, A City By Night” We are delighted to welcome Paris-based photographer Chantal Stoman to this year’s Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops. Her work focuses on the humanity hidden in the heart of major cities. It includes LOST HIGHWAY, a project which she continues with VIEWS in which we find “Phnom Penh, A City By Night”, the project of a workshop in Phnom Penh. Chantal Stoman, invited by the French Institute of Cambodia, in partnership with Cambodia Airports, to become an artist in residence in Phnom Penh, worked with local emerging photographers and students of Studio Images on the “Phnom Penh, A City By Night” workshop, with the aim of helping them to capture their home city by night and rediscover their environment. “This collective work taught the workshops participants how to develop their sense of observation, to look for different sources of light, which are indispensable to night-time photography, in order to construct an image that would recount a story.” said Chantal Stoman. These images from “Phnom Penh, A City By Night” will be showcased during the 12 edition of the Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops, in the presence of Chantal Stoman and the workshop participants. The presentation will take place in the Festival Zone in Siem Reap, Cambodia, on the 8th December 2016, at 6pm. th
Project realised through a residency at Studio Images, on invitation from the French Institute in Phnom Penh, and sponsored by Cambodia Airports.
