BELIEF ON TEACHING AND LEARNING

Learning, in my opinio, is a necessary, innat, continuing, and lifelong process. As a future teache, I hope that everyone can learn and that reasonable expectations that challenge all learners are maintained. They must be able to express their enthusiasm for learning and see all interactions as chances to teach and learn. Because the fundamental goal for assessment is to increase learning, it gives all students the opportunity to showcase what they know, value, and can accomplish. I also believe that learning is a process of making sense of the world, thuswe should be concerned with understanding development and acknowledge that concept are built and subject to questionor revisio. We must identify and adapt to individual variances and learning styles since learners are unique and accountable for their own learning. We, too, must show concern and understanding for each learners, as well as include and optimize the participation of students of various skills and backgrounds. Learning also requires the ability to link previous knowledge, perceptions, or patterns of experience with new experience, information, and settings.

To do so, we must look for ways to draw on the diverse personal, social, and cultural experiences, knowledge, and abilities that learnersbring the new learning. Learning is improved when students are aware of how they think and learn (meta-cognition), which gives them more control over their learning. As a result, we must clearly teach thinking and learning techniques as well as medol meta-cognition.

THE AUTHOR

DESCRIPTION

Before you begin your one-semester journey in observation and teaching aideship, it may be useful to be reminded of the personal and professional qualities that we, as teachers, should possess. It is a never-ending journey to strive to be the best teacher, the teacher who will leave an imprint of himself/herself on his/her students. Three years ago, you began discussing who a professional teacher is in your course on The Teaching Profession, etc. As you observe and assist your Field Study Resource Teacher, the journey becomes more focused and challenging. Don't be concerned! You've prepared for these three years, and you'll emerge stronger, happier, and wiser.

REFLECTION

Being a teacher is one of the most prestigious careers one can pursue. A teacher's influence on a student's life can be both positive and negative. Teaching is one of the few professions that has a direct impact on our country's future, and while it may sound corny, you may have a greater impact on the lives of children than some of their parents. You devote countless hours to your students, but busy or career-driven parents may not be able to do so. Becoming an educator benefits your home or family life, allows you to see potential in students, and, most importantly, allows you to basically mold lives in a single calendar year.

The professional and personal characteristics of a teacher are both important. In my opinion, a teacher would be incomplete without any of them. Personal characteristics such as good communication and interpersonal skills are required so that the instructor can understand the students' needs and that they can easily contact the teacher. Professional abilities are required to master the fundamentals of teaching methods, strategies, and hands-on training in order to deal with students from a variety of backgrounds. In addition, to provide teaching certification

Students frequently recall teachers who were kind, amusing, bright, or enthusiastic. They remember professors who genuinely cared about them. They recall instructors who were encouraging or helpful, or who saw something in them that no one else did. They remember professors who pushed them to think and challenged them. To be honest, students also remember professors who were a little odd.

FS 2- EPISODE 2: EMBEDDING ACTION RESEACH FOR REFLECTIVE TEACHING

DESCRIPTION

Every teacher is a participant-observer. It is doable for everyone. It is possible for teachers and students to work together on this.

This episode focuses on action research as one of the teacher's roles. Every teacher should be interested in how students learn, want to make curriculum changes, and want to improve their teaching practice. To accomplish these goals, a teacher must conduct action research on real-world problems. These problematic situations and observed discrepancies arise from the misalignment of what is intended and what actually occurs in the classroom.

REFLECTION

This section of the book focuses on action research conducted by teachers and education administrators working in the field. The focus of this chapter, on the other hand, is on the need for such research to become a regular and ongoing activity for a large number of teachers in a significant number of schools. There are formidable barriers to such a shift in the teaching profession. Nonetheless, we believe that such a shift is required if action research is to become a major force for educational improvement.

Right now, action research is often impressive, energizing, and inspiring in the places where it occurs. It is appealing for a variety of reasons, the most important of which is that it has received enthusiastic support from participating teachers. Action research is also consistent with a strong, There is a growing belief that increased teacher autonomy will be a significant and necessary component of educational improvement.

However, the current scale of action research on the entire educational scene is negligible. Furthermore, it faces impediments in a time when standards, assessment, and accountability, as well as coping with unprecedented budget pressures, are the most prominent features of the situation. Policy discussions in education. At the risk of sounding discordant in the pages of a volume that is largely celebratory, we believe that unless action research becomes a natural and regularized activity of the school, it will

become a historical curiosity – a phenomenon that appears to claim avid and enthusiastic supporters. Every few decades, affectionate attention appears, but then fades as quickly and as perplexingly as it appeared.

DESCRIPTION

Over time, the definition of action research evolved. Action research does not have a single definition. Several other authors have advanced the concept of action research, which is based on John Dewey's concept of inquiry. Action research is a type of investigation in which;

• Practical because it entails making changes to practice.

• Theoretical in the sense that it is informed by theory and can produce new insights.

• Interested in change and improvement.

Action research has been widely adopted in education due to its value in transforming school practices by practitioners themselves. It is used in the classroom to address practical issues. It is a procedure that allows teachers to examine their own classroom and school environment in order to improve their effectiveness. The Action Research method is a method for educational practitioners (teachers, school leaders) to assess and improve their own practice. It is a tool designed to assist classroom teachers in considering their teaching methods or implementing a strategy to solve everyday problems in the school setting.

REFLECTION

Action research can help teachers reflect on what they want to improve, learn about what others are doing in the field and experiment with practice in a safe environment. As a result, teachers who conduct action research will learn how to improve their teaching and learning by conducting classrjoom-based research. In addition, by conducting action research, teachers can become leaders in their communities. Another thing is that they may be able to demonstrate how to be a reflective teacher or practitioner in their classroom. They can also share their new found knowledge with their co-workers and encourage them to conduct action research for their classes

The action research process is used to improve educational practice. Taking action, evaluating it, and ref;ecting on it are some of its methods. It is a method of gathering evidence in order to make procedure cahnges. Action research plans are also developed, implemented, amended, and implemented again, allowing for a continous

FS2-EPISODE3:UNDERSTANDINGARCONCEPTS,PROCESSESAND

cycle of reflection and revision. Furthermore, these will be used in my practice teaching to put all of these strategies into action.

This is due to the fact that action research allows teachers to reflect on their practice in order to improve. It’s also advantageous for me because I’m on my way there, and it’s critical for me to be aware of the environment in which I’ll be working. Futhermore, action research will assist teachers in creating a more energizing and dynamic environment for teaching and learning. Furthermore, it will assist teachers as well as myself in understanding what works and what does not.

FS 2- EPISODE 4: MATCHING PROBLEMATIC LEARNING SITUATION WITHPROBABLEACTION

DESCRIPTION

Identifying a problem is a tricky task. Acrtion Research begins with identifying a problem. Oftentimes, it is one of the difficult things to begin with. When a researcher was ask: “ have you identified a problem for your action research?” common answer will be: “ my problem is that, I do not have a problem.” Ironic, isn’t it?

If you observe and notice closely the teaching-learning environment in the classroom, you will discover of lot of problematic situations. You must have also observe these problematic situations when you did your fs 1 course.

REFLEECTION

As a future teacher, you must be observant in order to identify problematic situations. By allowing yourself to pay attention to the details that occur in your surroundings. Identifying problematic situation in the classroom and finding potential solutions will help me become better educator someday by improving my ability to look and observe attentively. Aside from that, it allows me to develop and comprehend the issue that commonly arise in classrooms.

The following problematic situations that can arise in the classroom include connectivety, involvement, home, and social status. All of which can have an impact on the teaching-learning process for both teachers and students. Furthermore, based on scenario two, students came from a disadvantaged urban community, with the majority of his students coming from discrupted families. The possibility is that they are unable to focus on every lesson provided.

The first change, I want to make is to provide learners with a meaningful teaching-learning process while also interacting with them socially. Second, I want them to participate in all activities and realize that there is hope and assistance available to them. Third, I want them to know and believe that I am willing to do everything in my power to help them become better versions of themselves and that I will encourage them to be more cooperative and have a more positive educational experiences. FS 2- EPISODE 5: PREPARING THE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT: AN OVERVIEW DESCRIPTION

A learning environment, traditionally called the classroom, is a space in a school that supports students learnin. It is a self- contained area where teacher teaches and children learn.in the classroom are chairs and tables for students and a front table for the teacher. This a traditional face-to-face classroom. Most often the students should face the teacher as the chairs are arranged that way. But as teaching deliveries changed to enhance learning, modifications in the seating arrangement evolve and more opportunity for the learners to move about for cooperative learning was addressed.

A conducive learning environment should have the following characteristics:

Flexibility- there is opportunity to have small groups, movable walls

Openness- learning corners/ areas which could be shared.

Access to resources- audio-visual materials are ready and open for use..

Physical classroom- space is clean and safe

Phychological atmosphere- it is friendly and accommodating

REFLECTION

In education, there are choices that must be made in order for the students to be successful. One important tool necessary for the students to succeed in a conducive learning environment. These environment begin in the student’s mind at a very young age and are developed through parents, teachers, saff and other connected to the school and educational environmeent. A positive and a good learning environment are important for student’s success as it promotes academic achievements. Positive learning, howeever, cannot just happen on its own they must be created in schools. There are many components that must be considered in schools to create a positive learning environment for the students. Creating a good school will first begin in the classroom. Teachers in the classroom schoul create a safer and a positive learning environment. A positive interaction in the classroom should be created and helps in

I want them to shift their mindset and believe in their own ability to make positive changes for their own benefit

promoting the students, social, and emotional well being inside the classroom. Improved learning environment will foster effective academic performance. The other important strategy is developing a code of conductin school. A code of conduct in school will provide a clear and agreed upon rules on the positive and negative behavior that students can follow. The other important strategy in scholl is reinforcing on positive behavior through strengthening and motivating positive and productive learning in schools. Lastly, teachers and parents in school can help thee students by developing some instrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation will help the students feel good about them and help them to be productive in schools. I believe that creating positive environment is not just creating a colorful and inviting atmosphere it is creating an emotionally stable, nurturing and constructed atmosphere with reespect for students and teachers alike. I feel classroom relationship are an essential part to creating a constructive learning environment and a teacher should build up relationship with his/her students as soon as meeting them should endeavor to get to know the students example is getting students to fill out a questionnaire about themselves, like, dishes, interets even maybe a personal development sheet. Team building response system and interactive learning should be planned into creating an effective classroom environment. Encouraging students in interact and to value each other’s idea.

FS 2: EPISODE 6: ENHANCING A FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

DESCRIPTION

In a face-to-face classroom, students and the teacher are physically present. They meet at a time set in the classroom. The teacher prepares activities, provides instruction and evaluates students’ learning. Equipment and instructional materials are made available in the classroom where teaching and learning take place most of the time.

Some of the advantages of a face-to-face learning environment for the students are:

Less distractions and more concentration than when studying at home or elsewhere;

Greater understanding and real world examples from teachers and classmates;

Greater chance of completing course work by doing it in the classroom space;

Learn more easily and more comfortably in familiar, traditional classroom situation;

Access more relevant information from teachers and classmates interactions and

Greater opportunity to connect and socialize, network and solve problems together with classmates and teacher.

REFLECTION

As a future educator, I can participate in and ccontribute to a face-to-face learning environment by providing students with a safe, fair, and conducive classroom environment in which everyone is free to ask questions and participate in class. I will encourage students to share their thaiughts, interact with one onother and provide feedback on ssomething or the lesso. In addition. I will allow students to work independently as well as in groups to create and develop their social, creative, and analytical thinking skills in order to get a better results from their task output. Futhermore, becausewe are in the new curriculum, I believe I will be able to employ a variety of teaching strategies that will greatly benefit and assist in face-to-face learning environment. I believe that I can use technology to engage my students in class and encourage them to reflect on and explore their learning. I believe that changes are taking place in the face-to-face learning environment as a result of the incorporation of

technology into the classroom which provides effective learning environment. It has an impact on how chairs and tables are arranged and there are spaces that must be reserved, among other things.

FS 2: EPISODE 7: MAKING ON-LINE VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENTSAFEANDCONDUCIVE

DESRIPTION

Education has dramatically shifted in recent years. School aligned physical spaces to flexible spaces that integrate technology to support the 21 st century learning opportunities. The modern learning environment incorporates the three elements: (1) connected devices such as notebooks, tablets, smart phones; (2) audio visual tools including projectors and touch screen displays and (3) purposeful furniture such as standing desks, collaborative work stations and connected seating that allow students to learn in different ways at different times.

The on-line learning environment requires a constant access to connectivity which allows learning to take place anytime, anyplace and anywher. On-line or virtual learning can be delivered synchronously or asynchronously, so the teacher’s role is moderator between the technology and the students.

Unlike face-to-face, on-line or virtual learning does not happen in one contained physical space but learners are in different imaginary spaces made possible by technology such as computer network. Virtual classrooms refer to digital learning environment that allows teachers and students to connect on line in real time.

REFLECTION

As an observer in an online class, I discovered that online classess are difficult to manage, but we must find a solution. Even though everything is done online the first ting I’ll do is establish rules and controls. Student’s participation will be recorded and I will use synchronize and off beat to give them enough time to finish their activities. The thought is that I would be fanatastic for three times is current price.

When implementing learning innovation, I was aware that there are factors beyond the instructor’s control. External challenges must be addressed at the organizational level, and most changes are ongoing. The access restriction refers to problems caused by a lack of hardware or a network. Implementing instructional innovation is only possible if a teacher’s school has adequate resoirces and a fasr internet connection. During this time of crisis. The government must assist our students in copping. I agree that no one should be denied education eve if we are an emergency because chuldren are our hope for a better future.

FS 2- EPISODE 8: ESTABLISHING MY OWN CLASSROOM ROUTINES ANDPROCEDURESINAFACE-TO-FACE/REMOTELEARNING

DESCRIPTION

Routines are the backbone of daily classroom life. They facilitate teaching and learning. Routines don’t just make the life of the teacher easier. They save valuable classroom time. Efficient routines make it easier for students to learn and achieve more.

Establishing routines early in the school year enables you to run your daily activities run smoothly; ensures that you manage time effectively; helps you maintain order in the classroom; makes myou more focused in teaching because yo spend less time in giving directions/ instructions; enables you to explain to the learners what are expected of them.

Classroom routines set the foundations for a meaningful school year with teachers and students whether in the classroom or remotely. To teach classroom routines remotely it is best to record videos and to post these in the learning management system so students may watch them over and over again for better retention and for families to view them so they can assist their children when needed.

Students can take an active role in establishing classroom routines. They can brainstorm on ideas which they will most likely do and follow. Routines are important especially when done in remote learning so that there will be less distractions both for synchronous and asynchronous participation.

REFLECTION

Doing this episode, I have remembered my all teachers from elementary, high school and in college. Where, I realized now that all routines and procedures they employ to us is very important in order to maintain the good flow of the class and good behavior. So as a future teacher while thinking this routines and procedures that I emplo in my class. I learned that I need to think deeper, know what expectation should I have to my students for what I can develop appropriate routines and procedures to the class. Also, delivering this rouines and procedures to class Ineed to ensure that they know and clear to them so that I can teach them how to do it. In this way, day by day they can practice them in their own I need to observe them strictly, where at the end of the day I can correct those who didn’t do it proper. In addition I realized mthat having a brainstorming in my students they can contribute to have effective routines and procedures on their behavior because they feel there ideas are matter in the class.

2- EPISODE 9: CREATING MY CLASSROOM/REMOTE LEARING MANAGEMENTPLAN

DESCRIPTION

A classroom management plan is a plan that a teacher design that sets the expectations for every students. The purpose of the classroom management plan is to make the students accountable for their actions. Effective classroom managements increases students’ success, enhances students’ academic skills and competencies and promotes social and emotional deveelopment.

The teaching-learning process may be implemented in various modalities. Teachers must bear in mind that alternatives and other options may be considered in designing the classroom remote management.

A good learning environment produces highly engaged students who learn more, do more and work more. Teachers likewise become more creative and productive in their work.

REFLECTION

I understand the importance of having a classsroom management strategy. It not only reminds students of their school responsibilities, but it also assists in the development of the student’s mind in order for the students to have a good moral character. Because there are no distractions, it also helps my students focus on their studies. I’ve notice that some students are really struggling, but they keep on trying and keep finding a way to survive. This is way, we, as teachers, should make more efforts to help them since they are giving their best too. Students who wok in the class will continue to work in the same way as students who work online. I wasn’t expecting this, but I was glad to see it come to pass. No matter what the ostacle may be, good students from families that value education will rise to it.

DESCRIPTION

Lesson Plan / Learning Plan- this refers to the blueprint of the daily teaching and learning activities. It is step-by-step guide which helps teachers in maintaining the quality of instruction. Lesson plans consist of essential components such as learning outcomes, learning content, resources and procedures. An effective lesson plan has a great impact on the teaching-learning process. It is a must that teachers plan their lessons effectively to ensure a successful instructional experience. There are three types of lesson plans: detailed, semi detailed and brief. Some schools design their own lesson plan template which includes their vision, mission, goals and core values.

The Department of Education has provided templates for Detailed Lesson Plan (DLP) and Daily Lesson Log (DLL). This was done to institutionalize instructional planning which is vital to the teaching-learning process. Guidance were formulated to assist teachers in planning organizing and managing their lessons to meet the needs of the diverse learners.

Teachers must also keep in mind that in stating outcomes, the three domains must be considered (Cognitive, Affective, and Psychomotor). Outcomes must be stated in terms that are specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bounded (SMART). The cognitive domain includes remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, evaluating and creating.

When writing lesson plans, the learning outcomes, activities and assessment must be constructively aligned. The instructional strategies used must help in the attainment of the learning outcomes. The modes of assessment must determine if the outcomes were attaineed at the end of the lesson.

REFLECTION

Followin the development of my lesson plan, I realized that as a teacher, I must prepare a lesson plan so that students believe the lessons givento them were in the right order, as well as a lesson plan that includes that following elements: Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound (SMART). I also learned that the strategies, method, and techniques used in lesson planning must encourage engaging student-centered activities in order to promote higher learning process and ensure that students retain the lessons well. I also relized that creating a lesson plan is essential because it serves as a road map for reaching your objectives. It serves as a guide for cpmleting the lesson objectives. Furthermore, the fact that lesson planning entails preplanning your lesson gives me confidence to discuss the subject. I am convinced that in

FS2-EPISODE10:WRITINGMYLEARNING/LESSONPLANS

order to ensure continuous learning. I must be fully prepared before I teach. A lesson plan forces you to predict when you will be able to finish the entire unit of your lessons. “failure to plan is planning to fail”, as the saying goes, and if you don’t have a lesson plan, you’re planning to fail at delivering the lesson.

MYARTIFACTS

Instructional delivery refers to the interaction among the students, the teacher and the content for students to learn the knowledge/skills/dispositions that they will need for further learning and for collaborating with others in a diverse society and a rapidly changing world. The process of instructional delivery involves applying a repertoire of instructional strategies to communicate and interact with students around academic content and to support students engagement. (Innovation Lab Network State Framework for College, Career, and Citizenship Readiness and Implications for State Policy).

The process of instructional delivery involves applying a repertoire of instructional strategies to communicate and interact with students around academic content and to support students engagement (Council of Chief State School Offices, 2013)

The mode of delivery is an important consideration when designing learning activities that will support students to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required to achieve the intended learning outcomes (ILOS), which will be assessed. The delivery of instruction must also be responsive and relevant to the needs of the times.

REFLECTION

The areas of the lesson that I need to improve is on providing learning guides. I have to improve my presentation to engage my students on the topic. Also, in gaining the attention of the students to caught their attention. I need to continue untill we finish the discussion. Gaining the attention of the students will help them increase their focus and prevent their discruptive bhavior. In that way, I can employ my instructional startegies and learning management plan, distraction can also reduce.

FS2-EPISODE11:DELIVERINGMYLESSONPLAN

FS 2- EPISODE 12: SELECTING NON-DIGITAL OR CONVENTIONAL RESOURCESANDINSTRUCTIONALMATERIALS

DESCRIPTION

We choose the most appropriate or suitable resources or instrucational materials based on our lesson objectives or learning outcomes. Even when teechnologhy-based educational materials abound, the teacher still needs to be competent in selecting and developing resources and materials that are not ICT-based. Teachers should know how to be resourceful in tapping non-digital or conventional resources and materials available in the area and situation.

Any book on educational technology or instructional materials would usually devote some pages to Edgar Dale’s Cone of Experience. It is a classic model articulating the different types of audiovisual materials and how these audiovisual types related to each other. Seventy-five years ago, in 1946. Dale already identified ten classifications of instructional materials, which remain to be relevant today, namely: (1) direct, purposeful experiences; (2) contrived experiences; (3) dramatic participations; (4) demonstrations; (5) field trips; (6) exhibits; (7) motion pictures; (8) radio/ recordings/ still pictures; (9) visual symbols and (10) verbal symbols.

REFLECTION

Every topic in the school curriculum requirres the use of instructional resources. This is without a doubt critical in the educational process. They provide students opportunities to connect with words, symbols, and ideas in ways that help them improve their reading, listening, seeing, thinking, speaking and writing skills via the use of media and technology. Learning becomes more fascinating, practical, realistics and attractive when instructional materials are used. They make it possible for both professors and students to participate actively and successfully in class. They allow for the growth of self- confidence and self- actualizations as well as the acquisition of skills and infromations.

Learning resouces are crucial because they may help students reach higher levels of success by faclitating their learning. This method enhances the learning process by enabling the learner to individually explore the content while also giving repetition. As a result, in order to execute the lesson and achieve equal learning, the teacher should select appropriate resources or materials in instructing.

ANDLEARNING:

DESCRIPTION

An app, 9a shorter way of ssaying application) is a kind of software which can be installed in various gadgets- a desktop, laptop, smartphone, and tablets. There are thousands of apps, each with specific functions. A wide range of functions among others included, orering food, getting a ride, getting a date, doing bank transaction and even praying and meditating. Now, theree are those that are directly useful for teaching and learning which can be referred to as ducational apps. Whether the class is face-toface, blended, or fully online, a vast number of apps can truly enhance the teachinglearning process.

The judicious use of apps can make the teaching-leearning process more effective, efficient, and equally important, more fun and satisfying for both the teacher and the students. The teacher can use apps in the different stages of planning, preparation, implementation and assessment. Teachers use apps to prepare highimpact presentations that help them deliver content. Teachers also use apps to motivate students to participate, resulting in greater and more eenjoyable engagement. Apps are also used to assess, document and report performance and achievement.

REFLECTION

This episode made me realize that we should be careful in selecting and using apps in our class. Some tools are useful, yet they are not f approarite for the topic or subject/s that we are handling of. We should consider the five criteria which are developmental appropriateness, engagement, instructional design, motivation and accessibility. I should practice considering the art of choosing apps for teachers to use apps in teaching effectively. If I will be assessing myself, I think I already about organizing and using apps in the teaching-learning process. However, I still need to learn more about it. I should observe how my resouce teacher organizes and use apps and will try to adapt them.

FS2-EPISODE13:UTILIZINGAPPLICATIONS(APPS)FORTEACHING

MYARTIFACTS

DESCRIPTION

The learning environment has recently radically changed. No one would have anticipated that a pandemic would shift the four corner of the brick-and-mortar classroom to the four corners of a computer screen, a tablet, or eve a cell phone! While we believe teachers should be competent in organizing and using resources in a physical classroom, a future teacher must be adept in utilizing technology to set up, design, work and teach in a virtual classroom.

A virtual classroom is usually supported by a platform generally regarded as a learning management system (LMS) in a flexible learning modality involving online learning.

LMS is a course organizer software. It helps teachers plan, create, manage, and deliver online education programs (habulan, 2016). The most common ones are Canvas, Moodle, Google Classroom, Blackboard, Microsoft teams, Seasaw, and our local one is Genyo.

As you have learn from your Technology for Teaching and Learning classes, Learning Management Systems have features and functions are called by different names depending on the LMS platform.

REFLECTION

A Learning Management System (LMS) is one learning tool that has been widely used to improve students’ learning experience and the construction od their understanding of certain topics. In the past decade, Learning Management System (LMS) have become the standards on college campuses. Howerver, some professors are growing increasingly frustrated with the LMS and its limitations, especially within online classrooms. The use o Learning Management System (LMS) as tools for learning in the present internet age is seen as an important solutions to remedy major problems particularly faced by higher educations instructors, students and universities.

FS 2- EPISODE 15: UTILIZING WEB-CONFERENCING APPS FOR SYNCHRONOUSE-LEARNING

DESCRIPTION

The call of the times has made it more necessary for future teachers like you to develop skills in planning, implementing and managing remote learning. One form of remote learning is done online. Online remte learning can be done synchronous, where the teacher and students mett and interact in real time and asynchonous, when learning is supported by prepared materials and there is no real time interaction between the teacher and the learners.

This episode will focus on synchronous sessions. In order to hold synchronous classes, you will need to use web-conferencing apps. Some LMS already have these embedded; some do not. You will neeed to know how to access, evaluate and utilize the features and functions of apps like Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Skype, Blackboard, Webct, and even Messenger.

Again as in the previous episode, the TRACK Model can guide you in how best to utilize web-conferencing apps when conducting a synchronous learning experience. Another helpful model that can guide you is the Community of Inquiry Model (COI). This model identified the “essential elements in an educational exoerience.” These elements are (1) the teaching presence, which is about basic teaching tasks; (2) the social presence, which focuses on establishing a sense of belonging to community; and (3) the cognitive presence, which fosters critical thinking and engagement.

REFLECTION

We will employ a realible and relevant web-conferencing app to make our class easier and more convenient to use finding an app that is appropriate for your class can make it easier for teachers and students to achieve a great learning outcome. In order to create rich and fascinating presentations that will attract students’ attention and make learning more effective, effective online education uses professional lighting and highquality input. Two-way communications- teachers should give their students opportunities for two-communication.

FS2-EPISODE16:ASSESINGFOR,AS,ANDOFLEARNING

DESCRIPTION

Three phases on assessment that we have met in our Assessment courses are assessment for learning, Assessment as learning and assessment of learning. Assessment for learning is more known as formative assessment while assessment of learning is called summative assessment. Severl authors claim assessment as learning self-assessment.

This episode is concerned mainly with assessment for learning an assessment little on assessment of learning which is the main focus of the nesxt episode.

Assessment for learning also referred to as formative assessment implies that assessmet is at the service of learning. Why assess? Based on the phrase “assessment for learning “we assess to ensure learning. That is why while instruction is in progress, it is wise for the teacher to check if students are learning or not learning

MYARTIFACTS

what they are expected to learn, right there and then, remedial steps are taken through formative assessments tasks.

REFLECTION

Assessment is an integral part of instruction, as it determines whether or not the goals of education are being met. Assessment affects decisions about grades, placements, advancement, instrucational needs, curriculum and in some cases funding. Assessment inspire us to ask these hard questions “ Are we teaching what we think we are teaching?” “are students learning what they aree supposed to be learning?” “ is there are way to teach the subject, thereby promoting better learning?”

Today’s students need to know not only the basic reading and arithmetic skills, but also skills that will allow thme to face a world that is changing. They must be able to think critically, to analyzed and to make inferences. Changes in the skills base and knowledge our students need require new learning goals; these new learning goals change the relationship between assessment and instrucation.
