Madrid 1961. Madrid 1961.Live and works in Madrid Angeles San Jose works made whit resin, glass ... as metaphor of ice and time . Ice is an amazing material that preserves the memory of millennia. Many answers to questions about our past and our future are to be found there. An elemental landscape, anchored in time, apparently immune to any uncertainty. The exact landscape that recalls some previous moment, where you could say, “I was here “. This is one of the features of this enigmatic place. It transports us to an ancient time. The future of this place is uncertain. We know that is extremely fragile. The confirmed threat of climate change , the loss of glaciers and the alteration of the site make clear the need to protect the environment and therefore the conditions for the survival of indigenous peoples, language and culture. Angeles San Jose`s artwork is constructed with numerous layers of lacquer, more than thirty, transparent with splashes of color, the transparency allowing us to appreciate the overlapping. Slow process-based work adding the quality of manual procedure, the presence of time in the very construction of the piece, which can be interpreted as a metaphor. The monochrome reflecting like a mirror the light of the space, vanishing ,the artwork resting on the floor like "adrift”. Angeles San Jose has exhibited solo shows in the galleries Antonio Machon , Alfonso Alcolea , Alejandro de Sales , and Adora Calvo in Spain , and the M.L. Wirth Gallery in Zurich. She has also participated group exhibitions like RED CROWN ON VOLCANO in the Atlantic Modern Art Center.
