ME SSA GES First, I want to thank everyone of you for an incredible (albeit strange) year!

We’ve been through a lot together. You’re willingness to adapt to the challenges we’ve all faced has been wonderful to see. I am constantly humbled by the courage, creativity and resourcefulness of our students. And to see you all working so diligently in these trying circumstances has been a boon to me and my family.

This year, its successes and challenges have been met head-on and thanks to the enthusiasm and acumen of our faculty, staff, and students, we’ve enjoyed a fruitful and engaging year together.

Even with the unprecedented change in our spring term, we have had a great year! Our all-school trip to Atlanta was a huge success, our lectureships, and our art exhibitions were tremendous. The efforts by our students who run our community base gallery, OPEN, was exemplary.

With the unprecedented move to remote learning, we have all faced the difficulty of new experiences and new technologies. I could not be more proud of the way we have all come together to make the situation beneficial and even fun! I am particularly proud of my graduating seniors, who have worked extra hard to finish strong and create bold and interesting work, even from home. Each of them have given so much of themselves, faced the challenges inherent in a final semester, and done so with aplomb.

I am thrilled to say that we are all looking forward to next year. The faculty and I have been tirelessly working to ensure a fun, exciting, and, of course, educational 2020-21 academic year.

ME SSA GES When I was growing up and something didn't go my way my mom would say, "Ten years from now, will it really make a difference?"

It was usually something truly inconsequential, like an invitation to a slumber party, and the answer was always, "No, not really."

I share that story because this is NOT that kind of situation. Ten years from now, I am sure you will still be still be recalling the details of these last 6 weeks. Beyond those details, I hope that in ten years you will look back and see how you persevered and grew to be a stronger person in this situation-more appreciative of your freedom and privileges and thankful for the people that make it all possible.

Unfortunate things will continue to happen in each of our lives--it is is how we respond that is a true reflection of our character. You all have shown incredible strength and resilience.

You welcomed new faculty, freshmen and transfers, and grew to be a closeknit community. I loved seeing you come alongside each other to offer support, encouragement, and the occasional seam ripper.

I appreciate how you participated and supported the events we planned and sponsored. You represented our program and Lipscomb in an exceptional way. I am proud of our seniors and the Spring Fashion Show they worked so hard to plan. Their new and fresh ideas about a show focused on philanthropy, sustainability, and collaboration will not be forgotten. I am excited to see what the future holds for each of them.

Most of all, I am excited about the future of our program. There are great things on the horizon! I can't wait to see you all in August.
