TUPC Learning Resource Center: Better Spaces and Resources for Students

The Learning Resource Center was made available to students in March during the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. The newly constructed TUPC Learning Resource Center is located at the North Side of TUP Cavite Campus. According to the head librarian, Mrs. Rosario Noriel, the construction of the building was led by the Infrastructure Development Office and Project Management Committee. She also added that the purpose of the learning resource center is to expand the functions of the old campus library.

The two-story Learning Resource center covers an area of 527 square meters and features four main sections: a circulation area, a thesis room, a Filipiniana section, and a reference room. The first floor of the learning resource center welcomes students with a lobby area, and other parts of the building such as baggage area, conference room, computer room, IT/Control Room and discussion room. The second floor consists of a thesis room, librarian’s office and reference room to support students' academic requirements. Each room is equipped with air conditioning and furniture to create a comfortable learning environment.

The rooms in the Learning Resource Center have different functions for students. The Filipiniana section is filled with books and works from Filipino authors only. Its counterpart the Circulation Section is equipped by learning resources from foreign authors. The reference room that is inside the circulation room is full of encyclopedias, atlases, dictionaries, and other literary works. The thesis room contains all the thesis, research papers, and dissertation from all TUP Campuses. To complement thesis making, the library has a discussion room for

thesis making only.

On the first floor, there is a computer room with a computer system that can be used for academic research and studies. The learning resource center also has a conference room for students’ organization meetings such as ACSOs, USG and Artisan.

The head librarian has issued a strong plea for the enhancement of library facilities, particularly the installation of improved air conditioning. In a message to students, the librarian emphasizes the importance of valuing the learning resources and taking care of the facilities. The call to action aims to create an optimal environment for academic pursuits and ensure a comfortable and productive experience for students.

The learning resource center is a significant milestone for TUP Cavite, reflecting the university’s commitment to providing an excellent learning environment for its students. With upgraded facilities and improved accessibility, the Learning Resource Center will play a crucial role in supporting the academic pursuits of the TUP community.
