MASTER PLANNING: NIU BON ACCORD PRECINCT

Project Background :

The project is situated in Onderstepoort, a northern suburb of Pretoria within the Gauteng Province, along Lavender Road.

I collaborated on the NIU Bon Accord project with landscape architects colleagues.

The task involved providing comprehensive landscape architectural services, which included preparing a landscape architectural sketch plan and report that adhere to the Sketch Plan Committee Manual requirements.

The goal of the project was to develop a landscape architectural sketch plan, accompanied by a preliminary cost estimate, to guide the landscape component of the NIU Bon Accord SAPS. The proposal was designed to address all pertinent factors and recommend suitable interventions supported by thorough reasoning.

The project brief required us to design a landscape that is accessible, low maintenance, and responsive to the site. The vision included creating a healthy and livable outdoor environment, ensuring safety for users, accommodating the site’s proposed functions, incorporating waterwise practices with local vegetation, and promoting sustainability while considering the surrounding context.
