Nouakchott: There exists rare manuscripts in large quantities on various topics in the private libraries of Mauritania. But since majority of their owners are unaware of the true value and importance of these manuscripts, they are lying in bad and dilapidate condition. Their owners even hesitate to show them to the manuscript experts. Experts believe that these manuscripts could be regarded as most valuable and precious deposits of knowledge and science of Muslim world. Arabi, since these manuscripts are laying in the hands of those who are unaware of their importance, they are not only negligent but also unable to protect them. Hence, due to the environmental pollution, there is increasing danger of destruction looming on this valuable inheritance.
