ABOUT I possess impeccable technical and computer skills with such programs as Revit, Rhino, Adobe Creative Suite and other design-based programs. My attention to detail, quick productivity, self-motivation and communication with others are just a few of my strongest points. I am extremely comfortable working in a team environment and excel being in an office that desires collaboration and while also being selfmotivated, I work just as efficiently as an individual. My passion with understanding different scales of design has helped to inform a deeper knowledge of how all of them become interconnected and inform one another.

My fastidious attention to detail gives me a rigorous understanding of the built environment and helps the teams I work in to deliver vibrant and interactive spaces and environments to live, work and play. My previous work in metal working, lighting and furniture design has allowed me a better understanding of the smaller scale side of things.

My urban design background also allows me to quickly understand the complexities of individual components of potential other projects, such as but not limited to residential, commercial, educational and retail. It is this background that allows me an advantage to have the confidence to dive into new and smaller projects in the future while also allowing my desire to learn more about each of these areas.

01 BELLA VISTA PRECINCT CRE ATING A BE AUTIFUL VIEW

Design approach The Bella Vista Station Precinct was rezoned by the Department of Planning and Environment as a priority precinct associated with the North West Rail Link corridor strategy, to provide for more homes, jobs and improved public spaces close to transport and services. One of the key goals for the Priority Precincts is to increase housing choice and affordability by delivering increased housing supply in an environmentally, socially and economically sustainable way.

The Bella Vista Station Precinct covers approximately 33.79 hectares, and includes the area within a roughly 10-minute walk, of the new Bella Vista Station. This concept covers approximately 33.5ha of land within the station precinct being surplus lands owned by Sydney Metro and NSW Office of Strategic Lands (OSL).

The vision for the station precinct is developed as part of the earlier Priority Precinct work, which, was for a business and commercial destination, as well as providing for a mix of housing types within walking distance of the new station, and ensuring the heritage, open space network and natural environment is protected.

The new precinct, is a long-term project that will be delivered over the next 25 years. This concept is the first step of the planned redevelopment of the station precinct and will enable a new town centre and integrated neighbourhood including affordable and private housing, a new school, community facilities, office and retail development.

The responsibilities I was asked to undertake on this project, was numerous and expansive. This work set out to look at the overall site and context analysis, created the master plan framework, worked through the public domain identity and the overall distribution of built form and building height. A set of drawings, design guidelines, an indicative scheme and the report were all developed and sent to the city for approval.

Design approach With an initial fleet of five hundred automated plastic retrieval boats launched. Eighty barges used as collection posts. Twenty tankers retrofitted to process salvaged plastic. Initiated by an internal competition about the possibility for city and urban life in the year 2050. An idea was sparked that wanted to answer the increasing damage done by the giant plastic patches growing within all of Earth's ocean and how to mitigate this problem.

03 SYDENHAM STATION A LINK IN THE METRO

Design approach The Sydenham Station project was part of a larger ongoing project for the development of the Sydney Metro City & Southwest Line.

The overall construction began in 2017 with an expected completion of 2024. This part of the project with see the refurbishment of the existing station with an additional stairs, lifts and connection bridge for the platforms and surrounding streets.

My time on this project was short but it allowed me to quickly learn and understand more about the nuances and strategy of larger infrastructure projects moving forward and instilled in me a deeper appreciation in larger public transport works, which has help strengthen my urban design methodology.

My responsibility on this project was to oversee the detail work of the new stairs along the platform. This included setting up sections, plans and RCPs for the design documents. I coordinated with consultants and other architects on the teams to facilitate the proper documentation to get past the finish line.

04 EEB UNSW A LOOK AT THE CEILING

Design approach One of the projects I was tasked with assisting on was the Electrical Engineering Building (EEB), situated on the main campus of UNSW in Randwick. The building was a six-story structure housing one of Australia’s top engineering schools originally built in the 1960’s in the Sydney modern style.

Though much loved and valued it had begun to outgrow its original infrastructure and spaces and was not able to support the latest in teaching and research methods.

This caused the building to become more disjointed in the 21st century. The project called for a complete refurbishment and additional 10% floor area efficieny, more natural daylight, a lower carbon footprint and generate its own renewable energy.

By the time I was brought on board the overall design had been underway and the construction start date was fast approach.

In that time, I became responsible in the finishing design and consultant coordination of the ceilings throughout the building. As the floor to floor heights were low for this type of building the unique original structure offered a creative solution for the finished ceilings to follow the pattern of that construction. Through this process I was responsible for coordinating the fire systems, the lighting and the mechanical services, to create a cohesive and clean finished product for the building.

05 CN 19 WESTCONNEX TWO SITES IN SYDNEY

Design approach The Westconnex project in Sydney is an expansive new predominantly underground motorway project. The M4 section of this project is mostly underground and with that required an ample amount of ventilation services in multiple sites along the route.

The two locations were along the network within Homebush another along Parramatta Road in Ashfield.

I was brought on board this project after a change notice saw the redesign of the ventilation stacks and surround brick wall barriers. My role on this was being responsible for the metal cladding of the stacks.

The design ethos was to create a veil around the stacks that would create a mirrored like finish mimicking the light of the surrounding sky to mitigate its intrusion into the surrounding context, while also providing space behind to create light effects in the evening and night time.

I was responsible with other team members to test and model options of the shape and materiality of the metal cladding that would allow a sense of opening and lightness while also having the support behind it to make it feasible. Through this process we worked closely with fabricators and lighting specialists to make sure we were able to come up with the proper finished product.

Design approach While working for Gotham Metalworks, I was responsible for the fabrication and construction of the framing and copper cladding of three large dormer oriel windows. My responsibility involved the physical building of each frame as well as guiding the copper manufacturer with how the copper parts were connected to cover the frame of each dromer.

The fabrication of the frames involved a combination of wood and laser cut steel fully covered in a waterproofing membrane. The final products were placed on a renovated townhouse on E 84th St. in Manhattan.

07 [M]IGHTY SPACES MULTISCAL AR ADAP TIVE DESIGN METHODOLOGY FOR RIO'S GROWTH Design approach The density-organising strategy of this project addresses Rio's uneven and disordered growth. Ranging from architectural to city scale. We call these - 'Mighty spaces'. Rio de Janeiro is a rapidly sprawling city amongst the world's developing megacities. Through the east-west dualities, the city magnifies the social unevenness of Brazil. This unevenness is a direct result of the current planning policies within the city.

Furthermore, Rio faces a challenge of accommodating 2.5 million new residents within the next 15 years. Mighty Spaces, aims to address the inadequacies of current planning strategy and the disordered growth that Rio will experience in the future. By channeling growth spatially along an east-west corridor defined by avenue of Brazil on the north and Supervia train line on the south, the project envisions Santa Cruz as a strategic edge for Rio.

Santa Cruz, the western part of the city is a strategic location for absorbing Rio's future growth. With new investments, land availability and a favorable topography, we see Santa Cruz as a necessary location for expansion. Lying at the threshold of urbanized land on the east and farmlands on the west, the Avenue of Brazil forms a crucial transect within the city.

Located in close proximity to the industrial area and port of Itaguai in the west, the avenue defines our key implementation area. The avenue is surrounded by publicly owned land and informal settlements on both sides. Further east, lies Minha Casa Minha Vida, a gated community, separated from the avenue by a canal. Both, the avenue, an influential link within the city, and an upcoming tram line will connect the port of Itaguai to the city center and will trigger densification.

The proposed strategy relies on adaptable planning methodologies that support growth and densification strategically within bands. Simultaneously, it restricts spontaneous urbanization by creating limited growth zones.

08 TOWER ON THE LAKE CRE ATING A SELF SUFFICIENT CIT Y

Design approach The mission of this project was to open a dialogue about the possibility of a city outside of a city. A multi-use tower is placed 300 feet from Chicago in Lake Michigan to distinguish itself from the city. The tower stands as a reaction to the defining nature of the coastline as it breaks through the habitable land and the nevigable lake.

The elevators and stairs are placed around the atrium and stepped away from the four towers and connected by a series of bridges. The tower floors stop being thought of as merely individual parts to the whole, they become integrated communities that relate and respond to one another.

Four thin towers surround an open air atrium. Towers hold work and living spaces; while the atrium houses the circulation spaces. Each tower consists of cells of varying heights and widths created by a pattern of two interaciting shapes in a 12 by 12 grid. The cells house the multiple uses in the structure and can be converted into any use the inhabitants need.

09 ART GALLERY A PL ACE FOR CRE ATIVES ALONG MAIN STREET Design approach The brief for this third year project was develop a public art gallery along Main Street in Blacksburg. The structure would need to house multiple small galleries, office spaces, ample storage and workshop space, as well as three small residences to house a rotating list of potential of in-house artists.

The idea behind the structure was to design a gallery with workshop, office space and residences included. The site is in downtown Blacksburg and includes the renovation of a 1930’s bank building.

The art galleries and offices are interspersed throughout the building while the workshop spaces are located in the rear. The three loft-like residences are suspended in a rectangular structure that cantilevers above the bank building and the new art galleries.

10 BUS STATION A STR ATEGY FOR MOBILIT Y

Design approach The mission behind this project was to create a bus terminal that included waiting space, office space, bike storage,end of trip facilities, car parking and a restaurant within. The structure's mission was to create a centre point of public transit for students, faculty families when either visting home or returning for classes every year.

The structure is a simple steel and glass rectangle with two atriums on either side where the floors taper forward above the other.

The entire structure is encapsulated in a steel mesh that diminishes the need for curtains or blinds while the atrium spaces are exposed as to maximize sunlight within. The building is pushed back from the sidewalk about 10 feet allowing light into the underground parking garage. On either side of the main structure is a glassenclosed fire-escape that runs down the entire side of the building.

11 A FAMILY HOME A RESIDENCE IN BL ACKSBURG Design approach The brief for this project was for developing a home within Blacksburg to create a residence for a family of three. The site of this project was placed on a half-acre of an undeveloped lot within a quarter mile of Main Street. The requirements were for two bedrooms, ample kitchen space, dining and living and areas for study and play.

Five volumes of progressive heights are brought together to form this structure.

Concrete is used as the structure, as glass covers the ends of each volume allowing maximum light in during the day while keeping the noon sun out with proper shading.

All areas of the house except for the kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are left unfinished to give the owner freedom to create his/her own space. The structure goes from twelve feet at the first volume to twenty feet at the fifth volume.

12 A CABIN IN THE WOODS A PL ACE IN THE FOREST

Design approach The brief for this project was to develop two distinct types vacation cottages. One built on the premise of load bearing wall construction and another built on column load bearing construction. The cottage was designed for the purpose to house two people and include ample space for cooking, dining, living and sleeping.

Design approach A personal project of mine has been attempting to capture the architecture and construction of my own dreams. Starting in 2017 I’ve always found what people remember in their dreams fascinating, from the disjointed narratives to the feelings they invoke but are quickly forgotten.

In this series I try to remember more specifically the architecture and landscape of the dreams I am able to recollect.

Moments quickly captured and jotted down once I awaken. The places and spaces never seem to make much sense but I’ve been a bit fascinated what the subconscious is able to create out of thin air.

Design approach As someone who enjoys all scales of design, I’ve begun testing out designing and fabricating furniture. Throughout the years I’ve enjoyed the practical constructive side and have taken every chance I have to learning and testing out pieces.

These pieces began as an interpretation of a Hans Wegner silhouette. It was then modelled in rhino and extruded into a single and two-seater design. I then worked with a local fabricator in Sydney called So Watt and sent them the template for the pieces.

CNC’d from marine grade 24mm plywood, the pieces were then fabricated and stained at home. Using marine grade rope, I then wove the back of the two pieces.

Other pieces made but not pictured were a sun lounger, side bench and side table.

Moving forward the hope is to continue learning more about other means of furniture making.
