Hart Christmas Parade to kick-off holiday season
Hart’s annual lighted Christmas Parade will make its way through downtown Hart Friday, Nov. 27 at 6:30 p.m. and will mark the start of the holiday season in Oceana County. The parade will begin at the Hart Public School campus and travel east to State Street before heading north and through the downtown business district. This year’s parade will again feature the Hart High School Marching Band, floats from area businesses and community groups, plenty of candy, lights and of
course Santa Claus. The city of will be decorated with garlands, lights and candy canes to celebrate the arrival of the holiday season. In anticipation of the season downtown, Hart businesses will offer extended business hours. After the parade, join Santa as he leads the Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Hart Commons. Santa will be available for visits with children following the tree lighting.

Golden Township Park, 8595 Silver Lake Rd., in Silver Lake will host a community tree lighting and festivities Saturday, Nov. 28 from 6-8 p.m. This Silver Lake area community Christmas tradition will include, free cookies, cider, coffee, donuts and hot chocolate. Also available will be hayrides around the Silver Lake area, a bonfire, caroling and of course don’t forget Santa. Event organizers anticipate Santa Claus to arrive at approximately 6:20 p.m. and after lighting the community Christmas tree he will visit with children of all ages and hand out free goodie bags to kids. The Silver Lake festivities will also include a “Holiday Cookie Contest.” Cookies to be entered in the contest are to be dropped off at B&L Motorsports, 1920 N. 24th Ave, in Silver Lake prior to 4 p.m. In addition to hosting the cookie contest judging, B&L Motorsports will also serve as a drop off point for Toys for Tots donations.
Thursday-Sunday … Celebration of the Trees hosted by the Friends of the Shelby Area District Library. Special Sunday open house at 11 a.m. with final bids announced at 3 p.m.

Pentwater to celebrate holiday season with Festival of Lights
Santa Claus will arrive at the Pentwater Village Green with a little help from his friends from the Pentwater Area Fire Department for the village’s annual Festival of Lights celebration Saturday, Nov. 28. Santa to visit Walkerville
Enjoy the sounds of Christmas as members of the Walkerville Public School band program lead the way as Santa Claus makes a pre-Christmas stop in Walkerville Saturday, Dec. 12. The parade will make its way west along Main Street beginning at 9 a.m. Visit with Santa at the Walkerville Village Hall following the parade.
This year marks the 63nd anniversary of the White Lake Christmas Parade which will be starting off in downtown Whitehall Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2 p.m. Over 80 units will be involved in the parade as it moves along Business 31 from Whitehall to Montague. The event will be led by The Algot Johnson American Legion Post 69 and White Lake VFW Post 3256. The parade will feature floats, cartoon characters, clowns as well as Santa Claus finishing out the line up. Both the Whitehall and Montague high school marching bands will performing. In keeping with tradition, area Brownie, Girl Scout, Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops will make an appearance. Area businesses and organizations will also participate in ance on his horse-drawn carriage to the parade. Santa Claus will make an appear- end the parade.
