Environmental Classroom

Location: San Andres islas-Colombia

Categorie: Educational, environmental Year: 2023

Located on the island of San Andres, the Environmental Classroom aims to rehabilitate the most important freshwater aquifer in the department. This is achieved through the establishment of an educational facility focused on showcasing the island’s agricultural species, promoting water resource conservation, and encouraging environmental tourism to highlight the importance of the island’s fauna and flora, both on the island and in its surroundings.

This structure, elevated from the ground, utilizes bamboo construction to create an open space that integrates with its surroundings, allowing nature to interact directly with visitors on the central platform. The design incorporates interior rain gardens and high ceilings to provide a view of the reserve.

Urban project

La Ramada-Calle 13

Location: Funza-Cundinamarca

Categorie: Public space, Environmental

Year: 2022

The project focuses on analyzing the urban dynamics between the central city and its adjacent suburban areas in the metropolitan area of Bogotá, specifically within the La Ramada irrigation district and the municipality of Funza. This is done considering future projections in terms of mobility, productivity, and economic development, due to the current and future establishment of large-scale industries in this metropolitan area, which promises a significant impact on the national economy.

The aim of the project is to improve the relationship between the Meandro Del Say wetland and the industries, as well as to facilitate pedestrian connectivity between the tram station, the main road, and the municipality. To achieve this, a variety of services focused on educational activities and exhibitions about the wetland are planned, as well as highlighting the agricultural character and the irrigation system of the area.

03 Regiotram Funza Station

Location: Funza-Cundinamarca

Categorie: Public space, Transportation

Year: 2022 Transportation Hub

The station located within the urban project of Calle 13 in Funza, Cundinamarca, is one of the multiple stations that this transportation system would have throughout the metropolitan area of Bogotá. For this specific point, it is proposed to create a canopy supported by a steel structure, allowing for large spans that open up the view for tram users to the central park of the project and its multiple public buildings of educational and exhibition character.

Within the project, there is a focus on integrating vegetation from the area by positioning different spaces under the canopy where various species would be planted as part of the wetland’s educational program. This would be supported by a translucent covering, aiming to resemble a greenhouse commonly used in the agricultural sector in the area.

04 Snake Cave House

Location: Sierra de la Ventana

Categorie: Residencial

Year: 2021 Residential

Located in the Sierra de la Ventana mountains in Argentina, this single-family home partially buries part of each of its three floors to better integrate with the terrain and take advantage of the energy benefits this provides.

Its morphology seeks to separate the central part from the main bedroom, creating a large private terrace for the most intimate space. These spaces are connected by an exterior corten steel staircase, which abstractly references the project’s name. All the bedrooms are located in the most buried areas of the project, and the goal is for the social spaces to be as open as possible, always providing a view of the landscape.
