This February, we are delighted to present an exhibition showcasing works by Threadneedle Prize finalist, David Storey. This is the Brighton-based artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery and will feature recent paintings in his subtle and compelling style, capturing the essence of human life.
David’s psychologically-charged paintings feature figures emerging from complex layers of texture and colour with fragments of a narrative that the viewer is invited to complete.
‘My paintings are an exploration of memory. They offer ‘glimpsed’ or half-remembered figures and faces – ‘re-imagined ancestors’ recovered from a personal archive of the forgotten.'
