01. Flood-Resilient Residential

Design Year: 2024 | 246,600 sq.ft.

• Resilient Mixed-Use Residential Design in Anacostia Park addressing sea level rise (up to 5.25 feet by 2100)

• Three Adaptation Strategies:

- Alleviation: Integrates green spaces and recreational areas for stormwater management

- Embracing Water: Community spaces simulating flood scenarios for engagement

- Elevation: Raised structures and permeable surfaces to prevent flooding

• Project Features:

- Two-Story Commercial Base with retail, food club, and health club

- Nine Stories of Residential Units (225 units, 400-800 sq ft)

- 450 Solar Panels generating power for 72,656 sq ft

- Sustainable Development Model in flood-prone areas, enhancing residents’ quality of life and offering innovative solutions to climate challenges

Design Year: 2020 | 302,450 sq.ft.

• 108 Residential Units across nine blocks, each with winter gardens and green wall systems

• Benefits of Green Walls:

- Reduces indoor temperatures by up to 5°F

- Improves air quality by filtering 80% of particulate matter

• Solar Panels on Roofs (40 kW total), generating 60,000 kWh annually to power common areas and reduce electricity costs

• Modular units designed with a neutral and minimal aesthetic using a color palette of green, gray, and brown.

• Efficient space planning maximizes functionality while maintaining a clean, uncluttered design.

• Emphasis on sustainability with natural materials and eco-friendly finishes.

• Calming, earthy tones promote a serene, grounded atmosphere.

• Interior design integrates seamlessly with the natural color palette to enhance relaxation and comfort.

• Cutting-Edge Hyperloop Research Campus with metal cladding façade reducing urban heat island effect by up to 30%
