1.0 VILLA ÉLAN Cabarete, Dominican Republic

Villa Élan, located in Cabarete, one of the most important tourist areas of the city of Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. The Villa is presented as a modern and elegant home, characterized by reflecting an avant-garde style based on tropical architecture, in pure and simple forms. The project is located just 50 meters from the beach, with great ocean views as its most distinctive character. It was desired that from every point of the house could be appreciated the beautiful white sand beach and its beautiful sunset view.

The design is enriched by the use of natural materials such as stones, slabs and natural coral, managing to adapt to the climatic context of the environment and highlighting the exuberance of nature.

1.1 DREAM CITY BOTANICAL GARDEN Sosua, Dominican Republic

The main vision for the Botanical Garden was to preserve these 160 acres of natural resources from the conversion of spaces for urban development. It continues a legacy of conservation by partnering with the local ecosystem in an environmentally responsible manner. Handcrafted pavilions of durable, local cypress wood intertwine amidst gardens and plant collections to create an immersive and engaging experience for visitors and researchers, as well as an engaging venue for events.

The project will also feature a sustainable garden that includes native, and nectar-producing plants that attract pollinators, and an on-site rainwater harvesting and treatment system.

1.2 BLUE DOLPHIN AFFORDABLE HOUSING Sosua, Dominican Republic The design team came up with an approach to maintain this type of intimate connection and community while increasing the capacity to more than double the units on site.

To create smaller scales of community within a larger, fully connected and accessible building, the team created a series of “neighborhoods� made up of apartment clusters between 5-8 units each, and connected them to a grand, singular corridor programmed with shared community spaces. This form created a diversity of spaces between the connection points and provides access to green space, views, and natural light.

Along the corridor, the team focused on the specific needs of older adults, creating opportunities for rest, shared living rooms and fitness areas, and highlighting the specific identity of each neighborhood.

1.4 WHITE SANDS Sosua, Dominican Republic

White Sands by Dream City Resort is a gated community complex of modern-style apartments, characterized by its artificial lagoon with Crystal Lagoons technology.

The unique characteristics of the place determined by the relationship with nature was the primary element that guided the design process. The planimetry of the complex responds to an arrangement in which the buildings are organized in a way that they manage to shape the open spaces in which the facilities for the hotel’s recreation and entertainment activities are developed organically; swimming pools, recreative zones, bars and restaurants.

2.0 WHITE SANDS APARTMENTS Sosua, Dominican Republic The interior design carried out for this project in particular was based on working the various spatial elements such as walls, floors and ceilings to guarantee a good design. The concept from which the interior design of this apartment was developed is called by the interior designers as Color Palettes (color palettes), in clear allusion to the modern and daring use of the colors used.

Each room has its peculiarity and was worked with a colorful, cheerful and fun palette, at the request of the owners. Each detail worked was chosen with great taste and highlighting the personality of the walls over the organization and arrangement of the furniture.

2.1 TROPICAL VILLA Sosua, Dominican Republic

The interior design of the villa consists of three bodies: a central one that contains the social areas, the left and right wings with the private areas, kitchen and service areas are organized, plus a terrace. This architecture of pavilions is consistent with the idea of achieving a tropical architecture, in addition to favoring design flexibility with multiple configurations to adapt to future owners. The diversity of roof options, with one water, two waters and four waters, enriches the complex in terms of the urban scale and the character and identity of the villas with respect to their owners.

SOSUA IN COLORS: Artistic intervention and facades renovation in Sosua Abajo Community Sosua, Dominican Republic

The project “Sosua in Colores” arises from the need to provide an entrance with its own identity to the city of Sosúa in the Dominican Republic. Its main objective was to clean up and recover the public space, in addition to totally transform the personality of this community through local art.

This specific project represented the evolution and appreciation of years of history and culture in that city. But now they gain a new focus and innumerable possibilities, including allowing a large part of the population that does not have access to art and culture, to talk with that language, contributing to the transformation of social, cultural and qualitative relations of their community.

The main purpose of the project is to turn the whole street into an art gallery. It seeks to develop an artistic project of urban art that manages to portray through colors, shapes and images our culture and history so that it can be captured in a living and accessible way for all citizens of Sosúa and the country.

To achieve this goal there must be everything, we can not limit ourselves only to the renovation of homes, it must also integrate all that exists in the environment, whether it is a light pole, a drainage system and even part of the power line.

The main reason why the Sosúa Abajo community was chosen was because it was a strategic area to achieve the objectives of this project. Being at the entrance of the city, Sosúa Abajo is the first impression and identity of the community of Sosúa, which has a great cultural potential that has not been explored in recent years.

POSTES DE LUZ LLENOS DE ARTE Sosua, Dominican Republic

The project emerges as an initiative of the artistic group Transitando which hand to hand with Pinturas Tropical Brand and several cultural managers in the country, had as the main objective to make the Dominican Republic the country with the large quantity of painted lamp posts, reflecting the culture of the country in each brushstroke, bringing the citizens of the communities closer through art and education, taking care of their spaces and the beauty of having art.
