News from the Managers Nicki and Tracey and deputy manager, Natalie – We will be combining March and April’s newsletter this month as April will be a short month due to the Easter Holidays. We would like to make a request for second hand boy’s tracksuit bottoms. As we know all children get messy now and again, or wet or have the occasional toileting accident; and many may go through all the clothes parents have packed. If you or anyone you know has some boy’s tracksuit bottoms they no longer need, we would be very grateful to receive them. Also a reminder for world book day; we will be dressing up on Thursday 6th March as our favourite book character. Please bring in a labelled book as well so we can read them with our friends. Big well done to all your parents who have been encouraging either walking or riding to pre-school! Buggies must be folded up and put in the correct place; 3 or 4 years olds should not be coming in buggies. Their physical development will suffer as a result of this and if any 3 or 4 year olds come to the setting in a buggy, they will be asked to take them back with them.

Rani, Jeanna, Erin Sue, Rosa and Laura – Seema, Natalie Monica and Marilyn So far we have been looking at 3 individual books in our group times and reading the stories with our teachers. Butterflies have been reading Handa’s Surprise and have made spoon figures to re-enact the story. Ladybirds have been reading We’re going on a bear hunt and have recreated the bear hunt in the garden using the large wooden blocks. Bumblebees have been reading I’m not cute and have been drawing pictures of themselves using mirrors.

As world book day is approaching, our focus has been on these three books to enhance your child’s learning about the way books and stories are structured, introducing new and exciting language, discussing differences between characters in books and encouraging children’s interest in books.

Our theme for March is going to be animals, and through his will be looking at 4 specific types of animals. Farm, Wild, domestic (pets) and Pre-historic are our 4 main areas of animals. Your children will study positional language using animals in play, explore sizes and the differences between them. We will be looking at the differences between habitats and creating our own in the musical garden.

For the last 2 weeks of April when we return, we will be focusing on our physical development and partaking in sports day. Notices and posters will be around to remind you closer to the time. Physical Development is extremely important and can harbour life skills that your child will use in later life, such as problem solving, contribute to their awareness of danger and learning to work as or in a team.

To avoid upset or confusion everything should be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Also remember once you collect your child from their groups they are your responsibility so DO NOT let them push the door handle to let themselves out. ADULTS ONLY!!!!!!

We would like to wish ‘Happy March Birthday’ to Natalie who celebrated on the 1st, Natalie on the 15th, Nicola on the 17th, Lily on the 28th, Davian on the 20th, Sophie on the 10th, Austin on the 15th, George on the 5th & Josephine on the 31st.

We would like to wish ‘Happy April Birthday’ to Asmi on the 18th, Joseph on the 24th, Taylor on the 10th , James Curtis on the 17th, Pranisha on the 28th & Seema on the 10th.

Please could parents/ carers bring in fruit so we can share it during our snack time? You are doing great so keep it up!  We have noticed that some parents are still parking next to parked cars outside the school gates please do not do this! PLEASE REFRAIN FROM USING THE STAFF CAR PARK AT ANYTIME EVEN IF THE BARRIER IS UP/THEY DO HAVE CAMERAS AND HARVARD PARK DO GET INTO TROUBLE IF OUR PARENTS ARE SEEN DRIVING IN. THANK YOU Can parents please join our Facebook site as we are trialling our news letters on our new site to save our trees! Just type in Harvard Park Pre-school and Day Nursery and we should pop up! We regularly update this with pictures, messages and notices. We will of course print of a few copies to those parents who do not have access to a computer. We will also display a copy on our parents table.
