Understanding the City Studio: The studio aims to develop an intimate understanding of a city and equips the students with conceptual, methodological, analytical, and communication skills necessary for becoming a professional urbanists.
About the city: A city has its functional ,spatial and agglomerative pattern to it which developed eventually based on the determinats affecting it. Ahmedabad as it co-exits with the east of Sabarmati river marking the old city and the new city to the west . Both the urban settings have its own identity in terms of typology,built use,FSI,building heights,spatial fabric,etc. The Ahmedabad to the east lies the neighbourhood Shahpur -Dariyapur, precinct study area of 1 Sq Km, well connected to the west through the Sabaramati River by the Gandhi Bridge. The study is conducted based on the spatial and economic development of the city and the determinants that lead to the informal setting of the precinct. The data was substantiated through primary and secondary analysis.
