About Pastor George D. Martin, Jr. Pastor George D. Martin, Jr. has served the Lord for many years.

He accepted his calling into ministry during college, becoming licensed at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church shortly thereafter and eventually an ordained minister.

His love for God has driven him to constantly strive for excellence in his relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, while helping others be all they can be for Him through the power of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Martin is an avid student of the Word, with formal education from both Anderson University and Wesley Seminary.

Through his demonstrative method of expository preaching and teaching, he fosters holistic growth and committed discipleship of Jesus Christ, and has even traveled outside of the country to share the gospel. As a community builder, Pastor Martin has established multiple urban ministries benefiting children and youth with a special emphasis on the development of young men. In 2002, Pastor Martin founded The Sanctuary Church in Indianapolis, IN with five charter members, and shepherded the small congregation to a membership of 400. He faithfully and lovingly served as Senior Pastor for 18 years; leading in many innovative ministry endeavors, multiple property acquisitions and community enhancement efforts. After dedicated service, the Lord called him away, leading him to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to share in fulfilling the vision of Amity Bible Church and to apply his many gifts as the current Executive Pastor and subsequent Senior Pastor-Elect.

He is an entrepreneur, having owned multiple businesses. He is also an author and songwriter, who has written several songs and authored the book, But What If I Fail, and has served as Executive Producer for a gospel music live recording. He enjoys fishing and is a tropical fish aquarium hobbyist. As an enthusiastic traveler, Pastor Martin has traveled across the world to more than 16 nations with his wife and family.

The youngest of 10 children, Pastor Martin values family and cherishes time spent with them. He is an intentionally engaged father of four amazing children; Jeremiah, Tylin, Tyah, and George III, and a grateful husband to the lovely Toyin Martin.

About Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr. Pastor John K. Jenkins Sr. has been preaching the Good News since he was licensed as a minister in 1973 at 15 years old. From an early age, he developed a love for the Lord and felt a call to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.

His pastoral journey began in February 1987 when he was called to serve as the senior pastor at Union Bethel Church in King George, Va. Nearly three years of pastoring at Union Bethel proved to be the training ground for his upcoming assignment. In October of 1988, Pastor Jenkins learned of the passing of his pastor and mentor, Dr. John W. Johnson, from his home church at the First Baptist Church of Glenarden. One year after Dr. Johnson's passing, Pastor Jenkins returned to First Baptist to become the seventh shepherd. The fruit of his biblically based teaching is evidenced in the growth of church membership from 500 to more than 10,000. Today, an average 11,000 people attend weekly Sunday services between two campuses located in Landover and Upper Marlboro, Md. With the support of his wife, Trina, and their loving family, Pastor Jenkins is able to expand his ministry beyond the walls of First Baptist. In addition to his role as senior pastor, he is the board chairman for the National Association of Evangelicals, Project Bridges and The Skinner Institute. The Skinner Institute was founded in 1992 by the late Reverend Tom and Dr. Barbara Skinner. He also serves as a board member for Denver Seminary, the Greater Prince George's Business Roundtable and University of Maryland Capital Region Health. For two years, Pastor Jenkins served as vice president/executive director of National Ministries with Converge Worldwide. He was formerly on the boards of Great Dads, Teen Challenge, and a local bank. Under the leadership of Pastor Jenkins, First Baptist founded SHABACH! Ministries, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 arm of the church in 1996.

Today he serves as chairman emeritus for SMI, which provides clothing, food, education and other resources in the Washington, D.C., area. He has traveled across the world preaching and teaching about the love of Jesus Christ. And after pastoring at First Baptist since 1989, he remains steadfast in his quest to "develop dynamic disciples. He is recognized as a catalyst to help individuals grow into lifelong Christian disciples who follow Jesus Christ. Pastor Jenkins believes that these individuals will impact the world on behalf of the Lord, thereby strengthening families and healing broken hearts along the way.

In 2001, Pastor Jenkins received an honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Southern California School of Ministry in Inglewood, California. After becoming a licensed pilot in 2002, he takes great delight in flying.

Even with his many obligations, Pastor Jenkins holds his role as family man as the highest treasure. He and his wife are the proud parents of six children and six grandchildren.

I am truly honored to serve Amity Bible Church as Senior Pastor. The time here has shown me that this body of believers is favored with grace, mercy, provision, and love from our God and Father, and I anticipate our Great God who has done Great Things will continue to do Great Things!

I am grateful to our Pastor Emeritus and Founder Dr. Les Smith, Elders, Deacons, and the former Coordinating Team for their diligent leadership in this monumental transition process. It is with humility and faith that I stand in anticipation of our church working together to accomplish the Great Commission given by Christ our Lord in Matthew 28:19 to: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”

God has placed each of you here in this local church body, which means that each of you are so vitally important to our accomplishing His purposes. During these nearly two years we have weathered the storm of a global pandemic together, which brought illness, isolation, and innovation in remaining together. This proven resilience in obedience, mission, and striving in fulfilling our God-given purpose will continue to fuel us as we embark on this next season of our journey.

As your Senior Pastor, I will strive with integrity and love in humility, while seeking the leading, guidance, and direction of the Holy Spirit, working in concert with our leadership team. Please understand that I value your prayers and support, because we will strive as a family as we walk in one accord to accomplish the work we have been called by God to complete.

As we conclude this day of celebration, let’s go in the words of Jesus in Mark 9:23, which says, “If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.”

In faith we will bring the good news to the lost, make disciples, while we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, and demonstrate His love that our families and friends, our community, country, and world may see and experience the power of His resurrection.
