Use Of Data Science In Military Forces, Intelligence, And Law Enforcement Introduction The military of today and the people who serve in it are considerably different from those of earlier eras. The military has become much more advanced and smart with the development of technology. Instead of the bulked-up and ripped old officers, one may now observe more slender and fit intellectuals wearing uniforms. The reason for this development is that modern military, intelligence, and law enforcement operations require a great deal of interpretation of the information they obtain through various channels, including phones, the internet, satellite, etc., in addition to physical strength. Such data are produced every day, every minute, or more accurately, every second, on all domestic and international bases. This information or data can be used to generate insightful knowledge that will help safeguard the nation. But is there sufficient talent on hand to do such an analysis? According to one Afghan officer referenced in the 2012 military paper "Lightening the Information Load," 90% of the information requested was already included in the system, but the requester could not locate or access it.

Data Science in the military Currently, neither the military nor the police in India has a specific position for a data scientist. Even though the Indian military community has acknowledged the need for such a job, CLAWS has held discussions about it (Center for Land Warfare Studies). Due to a shortage of data analysts or a dedicated data analysis department in India's military, paramilitary, and law enforcement institutions, the analysis is outsourced to commercial businesses. However, putting crucial data about the border in private players' hands for analysis could pose a threat to national security. Therefore, the military and law enforcement agencies must create a department solely responsible for data analytics. In addition to intelligence, surveillance, border, marine, and space management, operational planning, logistics, financial management, disaster management, future technologies, cognitive analysis, and analysis of historical data are all areas where data analytics is used in the military. The necessity for data scientists has been recognized by several intelligence organizations that are heavily involved in overseas activities and create a lot of data.
