BA (HONS) IN INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE I MARCH - JUNE 2023
SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE BUILDING AND DESIGN (SABD)
OBJECTIVE : This assignment serves as an introduction to the standard of Professional Conduct and Practice. It aims to outline the general Professional Conduct and self-discipline expected of Interior Designers registered with the Board of Architects (Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia).
This assignment helped me see, as a future interior designer, that following the required laws for passive fire safety in a building will help people when evacuating a building during a fire. Passive fire safety is used to help the occupants of the building evacuate as safely as possible until the BOMBA arrives.
I was able to learn the simple requirements a building needs during construction or when designing for the safety of the occupants or users in the future.
OBJECTIVE : The task is to promote democratic exchanges in online forums, allowing each student's voice to be heard. This will lead to personal and academic gains, as well as professional interchange and idea-sharing among colleagues The goal is to facilitate the process through electronic communication.

In conclusion, the forums' discussions helped members demonstrate deeper understanding and fresh thinking by drawing on the perspectives of other students who were discussing the same subject. to see how it might be viewed, how it might be understood, and how their perspective might differ from yours. This did aid in my comprehension of some points and, when necessary, helped to dispel my confusion. The fact that it was connected to the lecturer's lessons helped because it gave me more opportunities to understand and comprehend myself. As for Personal Development Week (PDW) coming to an end, it was beneficial in terms of understanding how future prospects are and providing information on what needs to be prepared for, how to prepare (portfolio, CV, etc.), and what the future of design and architecture might entail. Overall, it was a worthwhile experience that provided knowledge of the field and assisted in getting ready for future opportunities. I'm eager to put the knowledge I've gained to use and advance my career.
OBJECTIVE : This assignment encourages students to re-imagine and reconceptualize future architectural practices by considering challenges faced by architects and designers. Students must critically evaluate data from Project 1 to determine the desired business context. This helps students develop a clear vision and mission for their design company, focusing on effective business practices and reflection on their actions.
This project showed me the dos and don'ts of building up your own business, and it showed me how we can use future advancements to our advantage. Before this project, I was not sure what the requirements were to set up a business as a sole proprietor and what should be taken into consideration.
I was able to learn the basics of the startup of a business as well as how to do the proper required registrations, business vision and mission, organization structure, size, financial profit margin, etc. This project helped me take into consideration what I have to keep in mind while starting a business.
OBJECTIVE : This assignment enables students to apply their Project 1 knowledge to AIDP2 projects, illustrating regulatory, legislative, and technical provisions in an informative report presentation. Students will be assessed based on their ability to explain and apply their knowledge to their final AIDP2 project. The exercise serves as a working paper for AIDP, guiding students to address design rectification steps before finalising building plans. Non-compliance is marked with an (x) and described as a course of action.
I was able to gain deeper knowledge on the importance of designing a building that follows safety regulations. I found that while designing, I had ignored certain details that are required for a building to possess, such as disability-friendly aspects. I was able to learn things such as the GBI scoring for the building, the UBBL requirements to follow, and how to analyze building safety. It helped me see what should always be on our minds while designing a space. As a designer, I have to analyze if our design is suited for their tasks, needs, accessibility, safety, and does not cause any negative side effects to occupants.
I hope to be able to design a space much better than this one. I have ignored the basic requirements of the MS1184 Disability Act for this project.
I would say the professional practise module is an important aspect to learn about for a future interior designer. This module seems to be helpful to be more informed about the regulations and requirements we as interior designers need to note when either designing or starting our own business. The module seems to be designed in a way for the laws to be remembered better and easier for us to remember due to the assignments we have created or done on how to provide better service, acting in a way that trust, instinct, and professionalism are promoted and appreciated.
