The Story County Extension Council and staff, at the Story County Fair on July 22, celebrated the centennial celebration since ďŹ rst opening its

“THE 39 STEPS� AUDITIONS ACTORS will hold auditions for “The 39 Steps� at 7 p.m. on Feb. 3 and 4 at the ACTORS Studio, 120 Abraham Drive, in Ames. The cast includes one man of any age, one woman that plays three roles, and two versatile actors who will play up to 75 fast-changing roles. Pantomime and accent skills are a plus. Anyone can audition.“The 39 Steps� is a comedy based on the Alfred Hitchcock movie thriller. A script is available at the Information Desk of Ames Public Library. OPEN MIC NIGHT Deano’s 119 will host an open mic night at 7:30 p.m. Musicians, comedians, poets or any performers can come and show their talent, and maybe even get a free drink. Sets must be between 5 to 15 minutes. No drums.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE CLASS PCI Academy will host a deep tissue massage class from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The class will provide way to apply deep tissue techniques that are safe and effective for both the massage therapist and their client. The class will include overview, safety, both upper and lower body techniques geared towards client’s issues.

PRENATAL YOGA AND SUPPORT Ames Yoga Center hosts a prenatal yoga and support series. The class is designed to support the expectant mother and her changing body. Starting at 6:45 p.m., these soon-to-be mothers will build a relationship and connect with other mothers as well as strengthen the bond with their baby.

2018 Kiwanis Gift Wrap nets nearly $3,900 Ames Noon Kiwanis netted $3,844 from its Kiwanis Christmas Gift Wrap Booth at North Grand Mall. Kiwanian Geri Derner said the wrapping station was open 128 hours over 17 days in December, and served 371 customers by wrapping
795 packages. The gift-wrap project was also supported by a $500 grant from Greater Iowa Credit Union and $662 in customer donations. Sixty-ďŹ ve individuals contributed 384 shift hours to help the annual project succeed.
Income from the Kiwanis giftwrap station helps support community projects such as Youth and Shelter Services, Ames Miracle Playground and Field, Teen Maze, Food at First, Boys and Girls Club, Raising Readers, MICA, and Emergency Residence Project.
International Friendship Tour to Kyiv, Ukraine, and Tbilisi, Georgia Friendship Force International (FFI) is a nonproďŹ t cultural organization focused on promoting understanding, cultural education and citizen diplomacy through homestay Journeys and personal friendships. The mission of Friendship Force International is to promote global understanding across the barriers that separate people. With those goals in mind, Friendship Force of Central Iowa (FFCI), headquartered in Ames, is excited to begin planning a twoweek Journey 2019 to Kyiv, Ukraine, and Tbilisi, Georgia. The Journey, planned for October 2019, is open to singles and couples.
