Field widens in COUNTRY County Clerk race
County Clerk nominees Mary Joe Hacker and Sharon Jorgenson submitted news releases and were featured in the April 19 edition of the Amery Free Press. But three more candidates will also be on the primary ballot on August 9, Republican Deanna Boettcher, Democrat Tracy LaBlanc, and Republican Michele Gullickson. This brings the total to five interested in the position thus far. Outgoing clerk Carole Wondra is retiring at the end of this term.

“In 1996 I made Polk County, Wi my home. I raised my 2 beautiful daughters here. I have 20 year’s experience where I worked as a Probation Parole Agent with the Department of Corrections. I retired that position in July of 2015 and now am employed with the Polk County Sheriff’s Department in the Jail Division. I have been actively involved with Salvation Army, Criminal Justice Collaboration Program, and opening up the Serenity House in Balsam Lake Boettcher WI. My employment experience, involvement in various community outreach programs and raising my family here in Polk County, WI has given me the greatest opportunity to get to know the stakeholders and countless member’s in our community. “I am seeking the election for County Clerk because I appreciate helping others. The bridge crosses the Apple River near Black Brook Dam. Klitgard will attend Annapolis, Paulson West Point Amery Area School District announces that Bennett Paulson and Emily Klitgard, members of the Amery High School Class of 2016, have been offered admission to United States Service Academies. An appointment to a United States Service Academy is an extremely noteworthy accomplishment. Bennett, son of Eric and Terri Paulson, has received an appointment to The United States Military Academy,
in West Point, New York, Class of 2020. West Point, also known as USMA or Army, is the oldest of the country’s five federal service academies. Each year the United States Military Academy admits 1,150 to 1,200 young men and women. To become a cadet you must meet the requirements specified by public law and must be qualified academically, physically and medically. Each candidate must also obtain a nomination
from a member of Congress or from the Department of the Army. A West Point cadetship includes a fully funded fouryear college education. By law, graduates of West Point are appointed on active duty as commissioned officers and serve in the U.S. Army for a minimum of five years. Army graduates earn a Bachelor of Science degree and commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army. Bennett will continue his wrestling career at West Point as
