Lakeland-Central Conference-leading Clear Lake's boys basketball team handed Amery its third consecutive 40-plus point loss on Jan. 27 in Amery, 75-31, to improve to 13-3 on the season. Clear Lake shot 36-for-65 from the field and had three players score in double figures. The visiting Warriors also picked up 23 steals and 18 assists while the home Warriors turned the ball over 34 times. Leading the way for Clear Lake was Riley Peterson with 18 points, five rebounds and a block. Brett Benson contributed 17 points, three steals and two rebounds. Adam Loenser sneaked into double figures with 10 points and two steals. Also scoring for Clear Lake were: Jarrett Marlett (eight points, five steals), Tyson Blanchard (eight points, seven assists, five rebounds), Ethan Kirk (four points, six assists), Will Fitzer (four points, two assists, three steals), Ashtyn O'Bryan (four points, four rebounds) and Brayden O'Bryan (two points). Amery (0-14) was led by Luke Julson with eight points, six rebounds and two steals. Kenny Lepak added seven points and six rebounds. Also scoring for Amery were: Jason Oft (five points, three rebounds), Lane Frederick (four points), Wyatt Luchtenburg (three points, two rebounds, two assists), Jon Golden (two points), and Raymond Sowell (two points, four rebounds). Gavin Melberg grabbed four steals for Amery.

Amery's boys' basketball team suffered its seventh 40-plus point loss of the season on Jan. 24 when it hosted St. Croix Central. The visiting Panthers (9-4) dominated the Warriors, 75-35, behind a 19-point, 10 rebound effort by Carson Hinzman. Amery (0-13) was led by Wyatt Luchtenburg's, 12 points, three rebounds, two assist and two steals. However, the Warriors turned the ball over 24 times and hit just 2 of 7 free throws as a team. Kenny Lepak scored 10 points to go with his team-high six rebounds and two assists. Also scoring for the Warriors were Lane Frederick (four points, five rebounds), Dayton White (three points), Luke Julson (two points, two steals) and Raymond Sowell (two points, three steals).

Amery's 40-73 road loss to Somerset on Jan. 28 marked its 15th consecutive loss this season and 21st straight defeat as a boys basketball program. Somerset (11-4) was guided by a 21-point, five rebound performance by Ty Madden, who led a trio of double digit scorers. Amery (0-15) had a pair of players in double figures as well, with Luke Julson taking the lead with 11 points and three rebounds. Wyatt Luchtenburg posted 10 points and two rebounds. Kenny Lepak paced the Warriors on the boards with eight rebounds to go with his four points and four assists. Also scoring for Amery were: Mikey Kurschinksi (seven points, three rebounds, two assists), Charlie Flanum (four points, two rebounds), Dayton White (two points, two rebounds) and Raymond Sowell (two points, three rebounds, two assists).

Division 2's fifth-ranked Ellsworth Panthers were too much for the Amery wrestling team on Jan. 30 as the Panthers defeated the Warriors, 34-15. The match was an unusual one for the Warriors this season, not only because it was its first dual loss, but because none of the matches ended in a pin. Amery entered the match with five individually-ranked wrestlers while Ellsworth had four ranked
wrestlers. Ellsworth won the first four matches by decision and the fifth by a technical fall. The first match paired top-ranked Ellsworth heavyweight Logan Peterson against fifth-ranked Amery 220-pounder Robert Beese in a match at 220-pounds. Peterson defeated Beese by a score of 4-3. Amery 126 pounder Joseph Wentz put the Warriors on the board with a 4-1 decision over Jack Voelker. Third-ranked Jordan Penard followed with a 15-1 major
decision over Bailey Poellinger. Ellsworth grabbed another technical fall at 138 pounds as thirdranked Charlie Stuhl topped 12thranked Mason Tylee, 20-5, and Amery responded with a 5-2 win by fourth-ranked Walker Ingham over Braden Matzek. The Panthers then won the next three matches by decision before Amery's sixth-ranked Kale Hopke finished the evening with a 23-7 technical fall over Ian Matzek.
Amery's wrestling team picked up a 42-32 Middle Border Conference dual victory on Jan. 23 against the Baldwin-Woodville Blackhawks. Both teams are currently receiving honorable mention in the wiwrestlingcom Division 2 state rankings. The Warriors opened with a pin by 160-pounder Grant Cook over Logan Gordan to take the early lead but gave up back-to-back pins at 170 and 182 pounds. Kale Hopke knotted the score at 12-12 with a fall against Mason Baribeau in the 195-pound match, and Robert Beese put Amery back in front by pinning Dylan Hanson at 220 pounds. Chance Schroeder (285 pounds) added an 8-3 decision over Adam Malstrom and Brendan Burke (113 pounds) recorded a fall over Haydon Langer. But B-W managed back-to-back pins again at 120 and 126 pounds to even the team score again at 27-27. Then Jordan Penard began a three-match win streak for the Warriors when he edged Jordan Bonte for a 10-3 decision in the 132-pound match. Mason Tylee followed with a pin over Hunter Gartman at 138 pounds, and 145 pounder Walker Ingham secured the team victory by pinning Wyatt Bennis.
