“Do unto others,” is the Golden rule not always observed in today’s educational environments.

But on October 16th, the fi fth grade class from the Amery Intermediate School was reminded just what the rule means. They had the unique opportunity to participate in a Kindness Retreat

organization from Minneapolis Minnesota. Youth Frontiers is an organization that facilitates high energy

since 1990. There were 880 unemployed in the county in September, the lowest number in September since 2001. Unemployment rates dropped in neighboring counties as well. Unemployment rate drops again Continuing a trend from last few months, the unemployment rate in Polk County dropped in September to 3.6 percent, down from August’s 3.7 percent. This is the lowest September unemployment rate in the county since 1998, when the rate was 3.3 percent. According to Wisconsin’s WorkNet, 23,344 people were working in the county in September. This is the highest number of employed people in the county in September

Wisconsin’s corn production is expected to be 3 percent higher than last year. The USDA also forecasts record yields for corn in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and for soybeans in Minnesota. Wisconsin’s soybean yield would be the second-highest on record. The forecasts are based on Oct. 1 conditions. Halloween fun in Amery

The Amery Community Club is sponsoring several events on Saturday, Oct. 31 designed for Halloween fun. The Amery High School Auditorium is opening their doors at 10:30am to host the annual Costume Contest and Halloween Movie. At the conclusion of the movie from 1p.m.-3p.m., the kids are invited to hit the streets of Amery to trick-or-treat at local businesses displaying an orange pumpkin on their door.
