WELCOME TO OUR ANNUAL LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

Thank you for joining us for ASF’s second annual Leadership Summit What began as a seed of an idea a few years ago from Ambassador Edward T McMullen, Jr (YL 1995) was launched with great success last year and has quickly become a flagship gathering for strengthening the U S -Swiss partnership at the highest levels

Over the next two days, we will explore the evolving relationship between the United States and Switzerland across a range of strategic and timely topics. This content-rich program convenes senior leaders from government, business, and academia for meaningful dialogue and collaboration. The Swiss Re Centre for Global Dialogue provides an ideal setting for building relationships, exchanging ideas, and advancing transatlantic cooperation.

Founded in 1945, the ASF is a private nonprofit organization committed to strengthening the historic friendship and shared democratic values between the United States and Switzerland Since 1990, our flagship Young Leaders Conference has welcomed more than 1,500 participants who have gone on to serve in the U S Senate and House of Representatives, the Swiss National Council, and as Governors of Florida, New Jersey, and North Carolina Alumni also include CEOs, entrepreneurs, senior executives, acclaimed writers and columnists, leading academics and scientists, and prominent civic leaders.

Few nations are as deeply interconnected as the United States and Switzerland. The founders of both countries looked to one another in forming their political systems the United States drawing from the Swiss confederation of cantons, and the Swiss Constitution later reflecting the principles of the U S Constitution As “Sister Republics,” our nations stand among the world’s oldest continuous democracies

We hope this Summit provides a valuable opportunity to deepen your understanding of Swiss-American relations and to forge enduring connections. In an increasingly complex and fast-changing world, such dialogue and relationships are more important than ever.

We invite you to stay involved with the ASF beyond this week. ASF offers a year-round platform for continued engagement, collaboration, and leadership on both sides of the Atlantic.

Our sincere thanks go to our Board of Directors, U S Advisory Council, and Swiss Advisory Council We are also grateful to our key partners: Novartis and CEO Dr Vas Narasimhan for hosting last year ’ s Young Leaders Conference; Amazon Web Services (AWS) for hosting this year ’ s conference; and Swiss International Air Lines, whose generous support has enabled transatlantic travel for 750 U.S. participants since the Conference’s founding in 1990.

We wish you an inspiring and productive two days of exchange and we look forward to seeing you at future ASF events in both Switzerland and the United States.
