Music is a vital part of Jewish life In Adar, all the more so It’s the month we’re told to turn up the volume on our simcha, or happiness, and what better way to do that than with a stellar playlist?
With 24Six, you have all of that at your fingertips without having to sift through music or video content that may not be as appropriate, or you don’t want your kids to see
One of Chaim’s close friends is a frum man who works for Facebook and Instagram “He created a custom operating system [for the device] that has nothing but the app running on it,” Chaim shares
While it may seem like an extra thing to download or subscribe to when so many Jewish artists are available on mainstream platforms, Chaim is adamant about its necessity “The ability to slide off what is appropriate on [other] platforms is just milliseconds away Search for “Abba,” or Lipa Shmeltzer and see what comes up, ” he explains
“The Jewish people are built with boundaries,” he continues “The night of the year we spend celebrating our freedom has more rules than any other night…our freedom is built within guidelines ”
The app is comprehensive with tons of Jewish artists and songs, music videos and even podcasts It lets you get right to the good stuff, and if you don’t have it already, we’re pretty sure you’re about to be in love
Chaim Weiss founded the company after his kids kept asking for an iPod or iPhone to listen to music He didn’t want them to have access with Spotify or Apple Music “It’s not a proper thing for a frum family,” he says. So, he set out to create his own solution
Chaim has a background in making heated apparel, electronics and apps, so he had the skills to do it While the idea started as solely an app, it quickly turned into its own player so kids can have full autonomy. The app launched November 19, 2022 with the player coming out two weeks later
The app and device have clear benefits for the artists involved as well, as they’re paid per stream The app’s top artist in December made $5,500 in just the first year it launched (Chaim won’t disclose which artist this is).
The set-up at The ADDRESS lets customers try the device out for themselves. The 24Six section is quite chic, located right by the check-out area “We have many sefarim and electronic stores that sell our product but there was no one flagship location where you could come and experience it That’s The ADDRESS now, ” he shares
While the product is already quite impressive, Chaim says he’s just getting started
“We’re a technology company, not a music company, that’s what we do,” he says “We’re developing technology that doesn’t exist in the world. Be prepared to be blown away ”
Walking into Adora Baby’s section at The ADDRESS feels like immersing yourself into a candycoated dream Beloved by both babies and parents alike, the brand has that classic, timeless feel with updated materials and quality
Pacifiers dipped in pastels, dainty headbands that lie just so and cozy hospital hats with so many choices of appliques are what Adora Baby is known for Started by Bruchie Samuel, the brand came out of a real need when she became a mom
“She’s very detail oriented,” Breindy Babad, Director of Sales, says “In the beginning, she would hand make every item She is so on top of everything and ensures that it’s done to perfection.”
That’s how you feel when you look at Adora Baby’s products — they are intricately made and so well done yet look artisanal and feel special The line’s customers also really feel that “We rarely have issues when it comes to our products because they’re such good quality,” Breindy says. “Our customer’s happiness matters a lot to us ”
The amount of work they put into each product speaks for itself. Launching the first pacifier took more than a year They tested different shapes and materials until they got one that was just right They landed on a shape that’s similar to the one they give in hospitals and by using one piece of silicone to make the product, it’s much safer for the baby. There is nothing to break off and choke on “Every single product is safe and tested on actual babies with actual parents — non-bias people — before it comes out,” Breindy explains
The company started with pacifiers and clips and has grown into a full line of baby wear that includes newborn bibs, swaddles, hooded towels, rattles and more They’re about function and style The pacifier case for example, isn’t just useful, but looks beautiful when attached to a stroller.
That combination makes Adora Baby perfect for newborn gifts With affordable prices, you can easily add an item to complete a package for a new mom.
Joining The ADDRESS family has been so exciting for the Adora Baby team “It’s beautiful to see how each brand tries to help one another,” Breindy says “Everyone is genuinely so nice to each other. It’s so amazing to see all of these Jewish brands under one roof.”
Daniella Farin is a woman on a mission. From the age of 11 she has been an entrepreneur and designer and is now a living example of what turning your dream into a reality looks like
From Skokie, Illinois, Daniella got the design bug after her mother took her to a wedding She spotted a woman’s beaded purse and was instantly taken with it The woman suggested Daniella’s mother take her to the local bead store. So she did and Daniella was hooked. However, it started to turn into a pretty expensive hobby so she decided to fund it by starting her own jewelry business which she called, Strictly Yours, a play on her maiden name, Strick.
“I knew at that age I was going to be a fashion designer,” she says Between her fashion sense and entrepreneurial wherewithal, it was a perfect match. She took a sewing class as a teenager and designed her own graduation outfit
During high school, she went to Camp Moshava and met Israeli girls on shlichut there who taught her how to crochet That turned into a crocheted hat business with her older sister, Tanya It wasn’t just a cute side hustle though — they got their designs into real stores in Chicago.
The following summer, she went to Israel on a program where she learned with Israeli girls. While there, she learned about the mitzvah to settle in the land of Israel and decided she needed to stay. “It all just made sense to me We’re Jews, we have a homeland, why wouldn’t I live here?” she says
Even though she was in the middle of high school, her parents relented and let her stay She lived in a dorm the following school year, learning Hebrew in the process, while continuing her jewelry and crocheted hat pursuits
She would go to the Tel Aviv art market and people would ask her if the jewelry she was wearing was sold there. She did sell her jewelry to multiple stores in Jerusalem “Where there’s a will, there’s a way, ” she says
After seminary, she got married and took her design skills to head coverings Her work became popular through word of mouth and Facebook. She would do pop-ups in different Israeli cities and even had her pieces featured in the packages celebrities receive at The Golden Globes
From there, she started to move into clothing, landing on three dress designs that are still her best sellers today Finally, her dreams of becoming a fashion designer were underway.
She put everything she had into the company — and still does. She flew all over the world to source fabrics, choose the right manufacturer and attend wholesale shows She got in touch with influencers in America and that’s how her brand gained steam in the States
How this young woman from America made a successful business and life for herself in Israel comes from Hashem and the personality she was given, she says. “I was very independent, it was just very natural for me ”
Having no design experience besides learning on the job, there were times things got rough “I realized, I don’t know how to read a size chart or fill an order,” she explains “I went to China to manufacture samples and they’re talking about a packing list and it felt like literal Chinese. Somehow, I got through it and figured it out, Baruch Hashem Miracles happen!”
Since October 7, Daniella has been focusing a lot of her efforts on helping families affected by the war She started an organization called the Chayal Family Fund where she puts together events for the wives and families of soldiers with money raised on her Instagram platform.
Daniella’s goal is to make every woman look and feel confident in what she wears She tries to make pieces roomier with flattering silhouettes. She says when she was a teenager she couldn’t find clothes that would fit her normally, being a size 10-12 “It was hard for me to get clothes that looked good and fit well so I wanted to make a solution for that,” she explains “Our clothes are wearable, breathable, good for nursing and maternity, just for all stages of life ”
Joining The ADDRESS opened up a whole new opportunity for Daniella Faye. People had been wanting to have a location to try on her clothes for years so she’s thrilled there’s one spot that carries her full collection. “I visited once and there were ladies from Mexico buying my clothing,” she shares
Daniella believes her work is just one piece of the larger picture We all have our own strengths and the important thing is to believe in them. “Even if you’re a stay-at-home mom, your work is eved hakodesh,” she says “It’s Hashem’s holy work Everybody should know they have their own tafkid, or mission, in this world It’s a big puzzle and with everyone doing their part, it all fits together ”
Our clothes are wearable, and breathable...good for all stages of life.”
Sarah Siegel, our store manager, is a familiar face to many who frequent The ADDRESS. This month, she’s picking out her favorite fancy looks for spring Which one would you choose?
