The American Academy of Neurology Institute (AANI) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

ABPN Statement

The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology has reviewed the 2025 AAN Annual Meeting and has approved the program as a part of a comprehensive lifelong learning program, which is mandated by the ABMS as a necessary component of continuing certification.

PROGRAM GLOSSARY

Use this glossary to get information at-a-glance to help you quickly find items of interest to you.

Education

Business Administrator Day (BA): A day of programming dedicated to business administrators with actionable content, engaging dialogue, and networking.

Course (C): An education program using one or more teaching methods, including didactic, interactive, and casebased.

Neurology Education (C): An education program that blends teaching, mentorship, networking, and a vibrant community of educators.

Publications Area (PA): A talk in an intimate setting focusing on AAN Publications.

Section Showcase (SS): Showcasing one of 40+ AAN Sections representing a broad range of neurological subspecialties and interests.

Skills Workshop (C): An interactive hands-on program to learn and practice new skills. Skills Workshops require a separate fee and registration. If you are registered for a Skills Workshop, it will be noted on the back of your badge.

Science

Late-breaking Science (LS): A group of previously unpublished abstracts containing timely, significant, and innovative content.

Neuroscience in the Clinic Session (N): A session featuring a mix of scientists and clinicians actively engaged in lively case discussion to integrate scientific research with clinical application. Scientists will provide background on a case and clinicians will apply the case to a patient. Sessions will feature abstract presentations related to the topic and end with a panel discussion.

Plenary Session (PL): A premier session highlighting the latest advances in neuroscience presented by some of the most cutting-edge and well-known thought leaders in the field of neurology.

Poster Session (P): A session where presenters share their research and engage in discussion with attendees.

Section Poster Tour: Section leaders will lead attendees on a poster tour that reviews and discusses specific posters of interest with presenters.

Scientific Session (S): A group of abstracts covering a similar topic presented in an oral format. Time is included for brief question and answer with the author.

Society Spotlight (SP): A scientific session featuring encore presentations of top research presented at previous subspecialty meetings.

Hubs for Interactive Learning

Hubs (H): Step outside the traditional classroom and into the world of unconventional learning with unique educational and networking opportunities for eight focus areas.
