Director’s Chair Welcome to the “New” Americade!” More improvements

and changes than ever in the past 20+ years. We’re always in search of making an even better Americade for you, and Americade 36 reflects that. What are those changes? First off, Americade’s Expo is in an allnew home. We’ve had our eyes on this new “venue” for several years, and were finally able to make the move to this larger, more convenient multi-property venue. It’s closer to Fort William Henry and Lake George Village. And, it has more paved parking than ever before! When you’re in the Expo, make sure to watch world renowned artist Makoto Endo performing his “live painting,” creating beautiful and highly technical motorcycle paintings using only ink, canvas and a chopstick! Absolutely incredible! And if you’re interested in having your motorcycle become one of his paintings, feel free to discuss it with Makoto. On Thursday, don’t miss the Knights of the Round Table. We’ve pulled together some of the most colorful people in motorcycling to outdo each other with their best motorcycle stories (some of which might even be true), as well as share their motorcycling insights. Joining emcee Fred Rau onstage will be Alonzo Bodden (famous comedian), David Hilgendorf (Editor of Motorcycle Consumer News), Phil Smage (famous stunt rider) and Brian Rathjen (Editor of Backroads Magazine). This could only happen at Americade! On Friday and Saturday, Lake George is closing down one of the blocks on Canada Street for the Americade Block Party. This concert and party will appeal to a broad range of motorcyclists, offering great music, stunt shows and more. It’s a way of making Americade more fun for us all, and also introducing Americade to a younger crowd. Want to have a fun ride and help kids at the same time? We thought you might. On Saturday, the Americade Parade becomes the Americade Ride For Kids Ride & Parade! Not a slow crawl, but instead it’s a nice pace through the area. We hope to raise tens of thousands of dollars for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation! For the first 200 motorcycles in the ride, we’ll donate $5 each, so don’t miss it. Despite all these changes and more, we’re still the same Americade. We’re focused on making a wonderful riding event, that remains family friendly and represents the best of motorcycling. We hope you love your Americade Week!

Christian Dutcher, The Americade Team and 200+ Volunteers

Skills Challenge Americade offers two purely-for-fun riding events in the main factory demo area, which you’re invited to join for free! It’s a perk of being an Americader. You’ll get a kick out of it, and you might just win a trophy! Slow Race - How slowly can you ride? We set up a special straight line course, where “racers” compete head-to-head, with the slowest time winning. This always draws a crowd, which adds to the excitement. Golf Ball Balance - Have a passenger and want to join the fun? Ride 2-up through a special traffic cone course, while trying to place golf balls on the top of the cones. Sounds simple, but it requires good rider-passenger coordination. Any rider-passenger combo is allowed.

Wednesday| 5pm | FWH Demo Area Sign up at the Activities Room at least 1/2 hour before the events begin.

These games are entertaining whether you play or watch! Trophies and prizes for the lucky winners!

Fashion Show The Americade Runway moves to Wednesday night. See the motorcycle world‘s latest and best fashions,on stage at the Americade Fashion Show. There are thousands of dollars in door prizes from motorcycle manufacturers & top apparel companies, such as Indian, Yamaha and more! Most of the fashions displayed on stage will be given away! Word has gotten out; the Fashion Show door prizes rock! Don’t miss out. Wednesday | 6pm | FWH Towers Hall

The new 2018 Suzuki V-Strom 1000. Set coordinates for the unknown. For journeys that go beyond the GPS, you need an adventure bike that does more. One with advanced 3-mode traction control that lets you adjust to any riding surface imaginable. A first-in-its-class three-axis, five-direction Inertial Measurement Unit that feeds data to the new Motion Track ABS and Combined Braking System for predictable, optimal braking, even while cornering. And a powerful, fuel-injected 1000cc 90-degree V-Twin engine that takes you from coastal highways to rutted-androcky trails. The high-tech, high-mile V-Strom 1000: plan for the unexpected.

ADK Eagle Flyer

Free Battery Check

The Eagle Flyer opened in 2016, and has gained the reputation of being “the fiercest zip line in America!” This is a no foolin’ around, serious zip line, unlike almost anything in the U.S.! At a length of nearly 4,000 feet, you will plummet from the top of French Mountain over the top of the Adirondacks at a rate of 58 miles per hour, reaching the bottom in just over 55 seconds!

Do you ever wonder about the health of your battery, or if you’re drawing the right amount of power? Roll on up to the Yuasa Free Battery Check on Beach Rd in front of Father Jogues Park, and find out. The friendly folks from Yuasa have the tools and skill to help you maintain the life of your battery and help you get the most power possible!

You’ll be able to experience from high atop French Mountain, the panoramic views of majestic Lake George. Note, you can choose among different speeds to travel, so if you prefer a slower (more sane) ride, no problem. Tuesday - Saturday | 10a-6pm | Wild West Ranch

Stunt Shows

The Phil Smagejaw-dropping stunt showreturnsto Americadeby popular demand. Phil is a star of NBC’s America’s Got Talent and has teamed up with a new partner, Tony “Smallz” Neault, for a stunt show you’ve got to see to believe. They’ll ride upnear-vertical walls, jumpbig gaps, do 180 degree helicopters, bunny hops,low-speed wheelies, full speed stoppies, and an endless array of balance skills. Phil Smage is a multi-discipline, professional action sports athlete. He has been in the finals on NBCs Americas’s Got Talent, won 3 X Games titles, is a multi-time AMA National Champion, and has 3 Guinness World Records. Phil is a Gas Gas Factory Rider and is currently filming for the upcoming Nitro Circus film, “Action Figures 2”. In his free time he likes to teach his goat Gary how to do tricks. Troy “Smallz” Neault is the “brother from another mother” in the Smage Bros Riding Shows. He started off as an announcer and “human speed bump” on America’s Got Talent, but has since progressed into a show rider and currently travels the world riding as SpiderMan on Marvel Universe Live! Monday 5:30 & 8pm | Tuesday 5pm | Thursday 5pm | FWH Demo Area Friday 3pm & 6pm | Saturday 3:30pm & 6:30pm|Americade Block Party The Busted Knuckles Stunt Tour is returning to Americade 2018. We’ve hosted world champion stunt riders before, but these guys have a unique and fun approach to their wild stunts....they don’t ride motocross or trials bikes. Instead, these guys do all their stunts on Harley-Davidsons! These American Daredevils perform stunts that include wheelies, acrobatics, burnouts, jumps, pyrotechnic stunts, and whatever else they have up their sleeves. Every show is unique and different. Exciting, crazy and fun are just a few words to describe the Busted Knuckles Stunt Tour, and an energetic Americade crowd is just fuel to the rider’s fire. Cones Course Training Have fun AND become a better rider! Free to all Americaders with a wristband (a $125 value). Do you have full control of your motorcycle at all speeds? We set up a fun course, and have professional coaches on hand, who will teach you to be a better rider, in a short amount of time. We tend to feel most confident at highway speeds and cruising around town. But in a parking lot, are you a little nervous on that big machine? Drag your feet? Couple fingers over the front brake? ‘Duck walking’ the bike into that parking space? And just how wide is that u-turn? If you want to improve your low speed control skills and have serious fun at the same time, then come check out this event. Free Instruction from the Pros: Our professional instructors show you basic low speed motorcycle control techniques (works on any bike) as they ride through various cone patterns. You’ll be invited onto the course with your own bike for some personalized instruction. Then you can practice the skills you just learned, with the pros coaching as you ride the patterns. It’s a blast and ideal for any skill level. And best of all, it’s free! Feeling competitive? Take the Rider Challenge. Ride through the patterns without hitting any cones, going out of bounds, or putting a foot down. On Friday evening, we will keep score and the top rider will receive our Top Gun Award. Why Friday? You have all week to practice. Tues - Thur 7-8:50am | Fri 7-8:50am & 5-7:30pm | Sat 7-8:50am | FWH Demo Area *Sign up in advance in the Activities Room, or take your chances and just show up 15 minutes prior to the event.

Touring Tips 1. Begin your day with a FULL tank of gas and EMPTY bladder. 2. Make a gas stop one of the last things you do before heading for your night’s lodging. 3. If you’re taking a Guided MiniTour with friends, have breakfast together and arrive as a group. We put you in line as you arrive and it’s difficult to accom- modate riders who arrive separately. 4. Some tours have multiple waves and staggered departure times. 5. Arrive with clothing appropriate for the expected weather and temperature for the destination. 6. All MiniTours proceed at the legal speed limit, allowing time for photo opps & rest stops. 7. Because parking may be congested at some stops, trailers are not permitted on tours. 8. Tour Leaders will announce each tour’s CB Channel before departure. 9. Don’t forget to bring your camera. The annual Americade Photo & Video Contest (page 8) pays cash and if you have some shots of destinations, it might pay for your next Americade!

Riding Rules 1. Ride in staggered formation. Use a two-second spacing interval. 2. No passing or weaving, please. 3. All standard rules of the road apply; this is a tour, not a parade or a race. Riders must obey all traffic signals, unless a traffic control officer waves you through. 4. Your presence must be accounted for. If you have to leave the group for any reason, please notify your Tour Leader before you depart the tour. 5. Departure and rest stop times must be adhered to. 6. The main formation will not stop for breakdowns; tour staff will call for assistance if needed. 7. A.M.A. “Ride Straight” rules apply for the safety of all. 8. NO Pets please (for the safety of others and destination restrictions). 9. Bring a FULL tank of gas, an EMPTY bladder & a BIG !

Featured Speakers Rider’s Favorite Rides & Destinations Greg Drevenstedt Rider Magazine Since 1974, Rider magazine has been the definitive source for “motorcycling at its best,” with special emphasis on touring, travel and adventure. In May 2018, Rider published its 500th issue, and we’ll explore the best roads, tours and destinations of the past 44 years. Greg Drevenstedt is Senior Editor at Rider magazine, the largest monthly consumer street motorcycle magazine in America. As a fulltime staffer since 2008, he has ridden hundreds of motorcycles on five different continents. Tue | 7pm | FWH Conf. Center Riding Into The Future David Hilgendorf Editor, Motorcycle Consumer News What’s up with the motorcycle industry these days, and what does the future hold? Dave is the entertaining, and thoughtful editor of the “consumer reports of motorcycling” and will discuss the current state of the industry, discussing & debunking predictions of industry demise. He’ll outline the (bright) future of our sport, including current initiatives, and will offer a sort of “Call to Action” for riders to get involved. BONUS: Dave will ride over 3,000 miles to Americade on the new Gold Wing, and will give his impressions of Honda’s newest flag ship. This is a rare opportunity to hear from a major magazine editor in real-time his riding impressions before his official road test hits the printers. David is the editor of Motorcycle Consumer News, the adfree, 100% reader-supported motorcycle magazine. He has trained over 6,000 riders (MSF RiderCoach), is a fan of all things two-wheeled and been a motorcyclist for 40 years. Wed | 7pm | FWH Conf. Center Americade’s Knights of the Round Table Fred Rau, David Hilgendorf, Phil Smage, Brian Rathjen & Alonzo Bodden

Ride For Kids Charity Ride

Kids/Parade

An Americade First! A special, scenic ride that helps very sick kids - this could be the most special moment of your Americade Week.

NEW!

This VIP, full police escort, hour-l ong ride ends with a lap of the village (like last year’s Parade), e nding at the Party on the Pier BBQ (proceeds going to the RFK). Americade will donate $5 per bike for the first 200 bikes in the ride. Ride for Kids is the longest-running, most successful motorcycle charity event in the nation. Since 1984, motorcyclists have raised funds to help children with brain tumors, which are the top cause of cancer death in children. The more you $$ you give, the more you get back. We invite you to ride with us to cure the kids! (For more info see them at the Expo!) Charity Breakfast | Sat 8-9:30am | Queensbury Hotel Line-up |Sat 9:30am | Downtown Glens Falls Charity Ride Departs | Sat 10am | Downtown Glens Falls

One lucky registered participant will win this Saturday at the Party on the Pier. Honda CBR300!

Don’t forget to check out the special Saturday BBQ right after the Ride For Kids charity ride. BBQ Tickets can be purchased on site. Thursday & Friday | 11:30a-3:30pm | Lake George Steamboat Dock Saturday| 11a-3pm | Lake George Steamboat Dock For the first time ever, Americade & Ride for Kids will head to the best destination possible for its post- ride party...the shores of Lake George!
