4 MISTAKES TO AVOID WHILE GIVING FEEDBACK

As a business owner, it is your duty to ensure that the people working for you are performing at their best. And one way to do so is by giving them feedback on their work. But sadly, this is where most business owners or managers totally mess up, which in many cases, leads to their employees quitting altogether. Today I will share with you what are the 4 critical mistakes you should avoid while giving feedback to your employees.

1. Only pointing out what they did wrong: Now, most often, the person giving feedback makes the classic mistake of only pointing out things that they did wrong at work. Instead of keeping the whole feedback process balanced and telling the other person what are the things they did right and what are the things that can be improved, they only go on and on about what they did wrong. Please remember, the whole agenda of giving feedback is to let them know where they need improvement and what they can do to make sure they do not repeat the same things again. But if you constantly keep pointing out their flaws and mistakes, it will soon turn into criticism. So as a business owner, it is extremely crucial that you keep a balance when giving feedback. Highlight the good things they have done, highlight the things they got wrong, and help them know what they can do better to improve themselves. 2. Withholding judgements: Many business owners are guilty of getting too judgmental with their employees in the name of feedback. They may retort to making statements which are extremely unsupportive and discouraging for the other people.
