PRESIDING ELDER HENRIETTA FULLARD

Rev. Dr. Henrietta Scott Fullard, B.S.,M.A. from Columbia University, M.DIV. and a D.D. degrees. She is a native of Kingstree, South Carolina. There she was educated at Tomlinson High School. Being a high achiever, she went on to further her education at South Carolina State College in Orangeburg, South Carolina. While a student at South Carolina State College, she participated in the the Civil Rights Movement for voter rights, integration and equal justice for all. She was arrested for her participation in the student March and was taken to jail along with over 200 of her college classmates. The students and Rev. Fullard were taken to the South Carolina State Penitentiary where they spent two weeks incapacitated without beds, toiletries, changes of clothes and other supplies. The Civil Rights Bill/ voter right act was later signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson Rev. Dr. Fullard has been actively involved in many community, civic associations, and fraternal organizations. She served as a member of several Community and Advisory Boards for hospitals and colleges, The First female President of the Southeast Queens Clergy for Community Empowerment, The Vice President of The Rockaway/Inwood Ministerial Coalition, The Interfaith Clergy Coalition, Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity Queens Chapter, the Steering Committee of the Project for Rockaway Youth Safety and Education (PRYSE), the Advisory Council of the New York City Housing Authority HOPE VI Project, Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (PBA) Clergy, Council of Teachers Supervisors & Administration, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. to name a few. Her awards are the Certificate of Recognition award from Mayor of the Inc Village of Hempstead, Citation for dedication to community pride and commitment to residents of Hempstead, Citation for service of excellence in the education of children in New York City from Congressman Gregory Meeks, Proclamation from the City Council of New York City from Donovan Richards, Citation from the New York State Senator Leroy Cormie, and Citation from Queens Borough President, Malinda Katz. Her biography is included in the 2005 edition of Who’s Who Among American Women. She is a world traveler throughout Europe, Africa, South America, the Middle East and The Far East. She learns past history and origin of Protestantism and Western Civilizations. . She has studied comparative religions, religious freedom, and cultural struggles. She has many years of service with the New York City Board of Education as a teacher, Assistant Principal, and as a High School Principal. As an itinerant elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church she was assigned as the pastor of the Allen Temple AME Church in Mt. Vernon, New York, and the pastor of the Bethel AME Church, in Arverne, New York from where was selected to be the first female Pastor to preach the Annual Sermon in the New York Annual Conference. She was appointed and served as the first Female Presiding Elder for both The Historic Philadelphia District and the Jamaica-Long Island District of the New York Annual Conference.
