Gilberto Arthur Romero

August 14, 1944 – January 20, 2019 Pop

Gilberto, “ ” has been given his wings to fly home and reunite with his beautiful wife of 51 years, Rita Romero, whom he missed dearly.

Pop was the man with the plan. Always sharp about his business, he never failed to tell his jokes at the same time and keep a happy spirit. He was a bright light in this world. Pop loved his whole family with his whole heart, took the bad with the good and kept on trucking. Giving up wasn’t in his vocabulary.

He tried his hardest in life. When life gave him hard times, he fought back. He was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan since the team’s inception and his favorite color was blue. Pop loved the casino, and he won too! Luck always seemed to be on his side.

Gilberto was especially proud of his service to the United States Army as a respected Staff Sergeant. He served from 1963-1966, was stationed overseas in Germany during Vietnam and remained a service man in the National Guard as a Master Chef for 30 more years after that.

Tech savvy from the beginning, Pop worked as an operator engineer at Eberline in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and you could find him as a regular on Facebook, his iPhone and Snapchat making everyone laugh and smile with his videos and GIFs. He was a generous, forgiving, smart, lovely man who is fiercely loved by his family & friends.

Memorial will be on One of his favorite things was coming to the Thrifty Nickel Sat, February 16th at to say hello and bring donuts for everyone.

Imperial Funeral Home – 1pm Gilberto, “Pop”, will be missed forever.
