THE OMEGA REPORT

HOME SWEET HOME! OUR NEW SAVANNAH OFFICE

Omega’s Savannah team was excited to complete our new office building in the Savannah Park of Commerce and we are so proud of their efforts. Way to go Savannah team!

The two-story building is approximately 30,000 square feet and offers Class-A office spaces. Broughton Partners, a technology-first legal marketing firm; DAI, a full-service commercial real estate development company; and Omega’s Savannah Division currently occupy the building and there is additional space available for tenants on the first floor.

The Open House was held earlier this year and was wellattended by our industry partners. It was a fun time with good food and great fellowship. It was very obvious the Savannah team is well-liked and respected in Georgia’s oldest city.

A MESSAGE FROM LEADERSHIP

OUR CONTINUED GROWTH

HUMAN RESOURCES

WELCOME TO THE TEAM

All companies must grow to be successful and to provide growth and advancement opportunities for their employees. Our 2022 was a remarkable year for Omega in both revenue growth and employee growth. As we finish the first half of 2023, this year is shaping up to be another banner year for Omega in supporting the growth trend. Some highlights of our continued growth include:

Corporate

• Almost 100% YOY revenue growth in 2022 to $410 million

• 15% growth in employees to 121 full-time employees

• Right-sizing overhead to support growth

• Maintained strong backlog going into 2023

Winston- Salem Office

• Completed 2 expansions for added personnel

• Added 33 new employees In 2022

Savannah office

• Moved into our new office building at 110 Park of Commerce Drive

• Increased backlog

• 16 Savannah office and field employees

Upstate Office

• Opened Upstate office in Greenville under Don Warren’s leadership

• Focus on Design-Build industrial and manufacturing sector

• Moved into 2500-square-foot, renovated office space at 750 Executive Center Drive

• Added in-house BIM capability

• 8 Upstate office and field employees

Omega’s personnel prior to 2015 consisted mostly of legacy Omega employees and approximately fifty former John S. Clark employees. Opening the Savannah and Upstate offices included the addition of employees outside this circle. With these new employees came outside perspectives on operations, policies, and procedures that provided us with an opportunity to reassess and improve. These insights have been positive for Omega’s growth, progression, and strategic planning.

The first quarter of 2023 was a great start to the year with a 94% increase in revenue over the first quarter of 2022. A solid backlog and continuous opportunities in NC, SC, GA, and VA encourage optimism in the short term and support an outlook for a mild recession, especially in our primary markets.

Christopher Chung, CEO of the leading economic development organization in North Carolina, EDPNC, reported to attendees at the recent MFGCON conference in Winston-Salem that his organization was currently competing for 240 potential new and expansion projects in North Carolina with the potential for 89,000 new jobs and $103 billion in capital investments. Christopher also stated that he has not seen evidence of a significant slowdown in project activity yet. Unforeseen conditions could arise that would put a damper on activity, but planning for growth by utilizing the best information available and maintaining a conservative approach should serve us well.

We have been fortunate to add team members who embrace a culture of care, investment, relationships, integrity, and operational excellence. With growth, there is always some risk so it is important for all employees to understand, appreciate, embrace, and practice our Core Values.

We are excited about the Omega team and the opportunities for the future.

HUMAN RESOURCES UPDATE

Our 2023 Annual Project Manager and Superintendent Meeting was held earlier this year in February at the Masonic Center in Winston Salem. We had our best turnout ever with over 90 employees in attendance. If you were unable to attend or would like to review, the recording of the annual meeting can be found on the Intranet/ Employee Portal.

We are still looking for great people to add to the Omega family and have been hot on the recruiting trail, attending events at Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, East Carolina, Wake Tech, and UNC-Charlotte. Omega offers a bonus to employees for referring candidates to Omega. The details of this program can be found on the Employee Portal under Employee Referral Program.

Thank you all for the work that you do every day!

ALWAYS PUTTING SAFETY FIRST

TRAINING UPDATE:

In the past quarter, we have continued to conduct monthly safety training for all field and office personnel as this is a key component of having a consistent safety culture at Omega. We have covered topics from silica, fire prevention, fall protection, and most recently “How to Handle an OSHA Inspection.” In the coming months, we will cover the Top 10 safety issues occurring on Omega projects, safety documentation, and cranes.

Our office personnel in Winston-Salem and Savannah recently completed training in our scheduling software, Microsoft Project. A big thanks to everyone that attended and we will work toward incorporating many of these key aspects into our project schedules.

The TRUST Academy finished the Division 5 Construction Materials & Methods section with a presentation from Davidson Steel on key elements of steel in preconstruction and construction. Next, we will begin Division 6 Woods & Plastics in our Construction Materials and Methods section as we continue through the CSI Divisions.

SAFETY UPDATE:

The Omega Safety Committee has set a goal of having a consistent and evident safety culture on all of our projects. As our team visits job sites, we have noticed a few reoccurring safety hazards and encourage you to pay close attention to these on your project site:

General Safety Items:

• Everyone on our job sites should be wearing the required PPE which includes hardhat, vests, closedtoe shoes, etc. at all times. Please refer to our job site signage if you have any questions.

• All Omega projects should have a Job Information Board that displays items such as the OSHA labor laws, permits, emergency access, evacuation plan, and other requirements.

• HOUSEKEEPING – We have all heard the phrase ‘a clean site is a safe site’. Keeping our jobs neat, organized, and clean provides us with not only a

safer site but also reflects well on Omega to owners and potential clients.

• Drop cords should be removed from service and destroyed if they are frayed, the plug is pulled away from the cord, or missing the ground probe.

Fall Protection:

• Low parapet heights must have proper handrails.

• Ensure workers are properly wearing harnesses and tied off when conducting activities such as working on a roof, setting trusses, or using lifts.

• Ensure scaffolds have the proper fall protection in place.

• Holes in floors should be covered, marked, and secured.

Ladders:

• A-frame ladders should not be used in the closed position.

• Workers should not be straddling or standing on the top of the ladder.

• Ladders should have legible manufacture labels.

• Extension ladders should be extended at least three feet above the landing area and properly secured

Lifts:

• If ladder usage is insufficient for roof access, use a lift instead.

• Designate a loading area for lifts that are protected with barricades and a watchman.

• Ensure the workers unloading materials from lifts remain in the barricaded area and have proper fall protection.

Scaffolds:

• Properly inspect scaffolding and ensure the subcontractors are doing the same.

• Requirements and items to look for have been discussed multiple times in our Toolbox Talks, but please feel free to reach out if you have questions or concerns.
