Direct from its fourth run in the West End J. B. Priestley’s classic thriller An Inspector Calls visits us in October, having won more awards than any other play in history. Our Associate Company English Touring Theatre return this Autumn with a brilliant adaptation by Roger McGough of Molière’s Tartuffe and master of Dickens Simon Callow, offers a seasonal treat with his critically acclaimed performance of Dr Marigold & Mr Chops.

Tartuffe is a beacon of piety and has his feet firmly under the table in the home of wealthy merchant, Orgon. But all is not as it seems and as Orgon becomes enraptured with Tartuffe the whole city is chattering. Is he friend, fraud, miracle or hypocrite? The family smells a rat and amid the frills and frivolity of seventeenth century society, they hatch a cunning plan to outwit the wily deceiver before he brings their house crashing down.

Directed by Gemma Bodinez and originally presented to massive critical and public acclaim in Liverpool, this scathingly funny production reunites ETT with the Liverpool Everyman & Playhouse following their hilarious joint production of Roger McGough’s version of Molière’s The Hypochondriac in 2009.

by Christine Keeler with Douglas Thompson, this play reveals the sensational inside story of the infamous Profumo affair: the biggest political sex scandal to rock the British nation in the 20th century.
