This is a marriage of two cultures and religions. It's the coming together of Fulani culture from the northern part of Sierra Leone, the Saro's. The Yoruba culture is from the south western part of Nigeria. The two families came together to celebrate the children on their wedding day. It was a two part event. The Nihkai and the traditional engagement ceremony were held on the same day, while the wedding and the civic ceremony, often called the "registry," were conducted the following week.
