My University placement year at a stairlift company

For the duration of my placement year I worked as a CAD CAM designer in the applications department. In this department, we use solidworks and an in house plugin to test the feasibility of stairlifts within a client’s home. We work with a number of different stairlift styles, buildings and specific client requirements, so no job is ever the same.

His determination to meet and exceed expectations during his time working with us will follow him well into his career and it was a pleasure to have worked with Amar during his time at Handicare.”

“Throughout his year at Handicare Amar was a very talented and important member of our team. Within a year of working here Amar was checking other designers work for mistakes and taking on some of our most challenging drawings. He was always happy to take on a new task and learn how new drawings types/styles. He worked well within the team, friendly and welcoming to be around and happy to help anyone struggling with a design. As a team we could always rely on Amar to be on time and working at a consistently high standard. Amar was the first to learn a new product which we now design, and was key with the development of the software and training other designers on this. He always had a list of ideas to improve products and software, many of which we implemented and are still used to improve the way we work today. Product design was clearly where Amar’s talents lie, with new ideas and innovative rail designs to combat a difficult staircase to work on. There have been many examples of his technical knowledge showcased throughout the year.
