WORDS FROM AMANDA Since childhood, I've felt a deep connection to shaping spaces. Growing up, my room was my refuge—a place where I crafted comfort and familiarity amid constant moves. It became my canvas for expressing individuality and creativity, providing solace and control in the face of unpredictability.

Immersed in my projects, I discovered a silent language between me and the spaces I touched. Soon, friends and family recognized my passion and dubbed me their go-to designer.

Now, my goal is straightforward: to bring others the joy of a space that tells their story. It's not about sticking to a particular style but about adding personal details that make it uniquely theirs. Each design is an intimate narrative, celebrating authenticity and individuality.

AURA can spaces glow?

The goal was to propose a rebranded and reimagined spa to the Spavia franchise that invites a new young generation of clientele. This inclusive design will weave in a seamless retail and spa experience that will promote wellness and revitalization.

This design cultivates relaxation while simultaneously evoking a sense of rejuvenation of the spirit. The use of warm and colorful lighting will foster a calm and reflective experience. Curvilinear forms will guide guests to flow from each destination within the space effortlessly. Organic materials that mimic nature’s lush colors and patterns will inspire guests to reconnect with the earth and be fully present. This grounding and invigorating experience invites guests to unfold into their highest selves, leaving with a stronger aura, and walking into the world with a new glow.

Inspired by artist James Turrell’s’ breathtaking and luminous artwork, the space radiates warmth and peace. His artwork is strategically positioned within the spa to reminds guests of their own inner glow and to aid in the awakening of their aura.

CONCEPT PROCESS

CLIENT & SITE ANALYSIS

This site is located in a charming city called Savannah lying near the coast line of Georgia . It is known for its well-preserved architecture, vibrant history, and beautiful spanish moss trees. This specific location was originally built in the early 1800's, to act as the center of Savannah’s historically significant cotton trade.

In September 2005, Spavia opened its doors to the public. Allison and Marty are the two leaders that brought Spavia to life. Marty brought his business background to the table to help Spavia grow as a franchise. Allison brought her creativity and passion for spa retail to make a space where the two could co-exist.

My floorplan inspiration came directly from my mood board. I noticed how lemons, water, leaves, and even wrinkles in skin carry these vein-like striations. My floorplan mimics these fluid and organic shapes, and brings the space to life.

WAITING AREA

CONCEPT APPLICATION Auras are energetic energy fields that invisibly surround all living things. In this spa, all guests, including those with limited mobility, will boost their energy and reenter the world with a revived and glowing aura.

The reception desk, with its low and "floating" counter, enables all customers access regardless of their level of mobility.

Custom curved counters make this space universal for people of all mobility types. Wheelchairs can easily access these areas.

James Turrell's artwork is placed around the spa to motivate guests to think deeply about their own aura.

Curved walls depict the organic vein-like structures found in leaves, fruit, and humans. Guests will feel deeply rooted to the Earth while absorbing the energy surrounding them.

Natural light is extremely powerful in all the public areas of the spa. Sunlight is key to increasing mood and energy levels.

Turning circles throughout the plan emphasize that wheelchairs are welcome in every area of the spa.

SUMMER FRIDAYS Find Your Balance

The goal of this project was to propose a workspace design for the clean beauty brand, Summer Fridays. It was founded by social media influencers, Lauren Gore and Marianna Hewitt in 2018.

Summer Fridays invites busy and on the go individuals into a sensorial experience that is nothing short of a dreamy escape. It is like a daily mini stay-cation for your skin. The goal is to leave reality and indulge in self-care with simple, yet luxurious products.

For the overall concept, I focused on the term "Balanced Movement".

In a fast-paced world, it is important to feel stable amongst the chaos and finds ways to rebalance yourself. To achieve this in the workspace, subdued pastels and natural materials are used to bring softness and life. Moments of mindfulness are sprinkled throughout and create pockets of peace.

Summer Fridays was founded by social media influencers, Lauren Gore and Marianna Hewitt. They decided to take matters into their own hands in 2018 and design a brand that is clean, beautiful, and easy-to-use.

Since launching a whole line could be overwhelming to the public, they started with the Jet Lag Mask. Once people fell in love with the product and brand, they continued to release more beloved skincare.

USER JOURNEY Upon arrival, employees are welcomed by the front desk and a view of the monumental staircase. On the first floor, they can choose to work beneath the median, eat in the café, or take a Pilates class.

The second floor leads to a lounge, multiple offices, and a wellness space.

CONCEPT APPLICATION Balanced Movement With the use of straight lines and curves, I was able to make my model come to life as my stairs. The shape encourages activity, while the linear wooden planks give a feeling of stability.

Moments of mindfulness are sprinkled throughout. These spaces include, the calm booth, journaling corners, wellness room, and Pilates room.

My finishes and materials promote calmness through subtle pastels and neutral tones.

Natural materials help employees to be grounded throughout their day.

JARDIN DE LA CRÉATION Lacoste, France

For this project, I was tasked with creating a cruise destination experience in Lactose, France. The site is in a quarry on top of an historical medieval village. Without removing any of the existing quarry, we had to develop the space and use it to our advantage.

I chose to turn the quarry into a cooking class experience, with a garden growing within the quarry. This allows the chefs and passengers to pick their own fresh produce. Overall, the cruise passengers, have a way to connect with the food, people, and culture of Lacoste, France.

They desire to provide their guests with premium dining experiences, culturally rich and diverse destination experiences, and warm, personal service.

Celebrity mainly targets adults with a youthful attitude and outlook on life. People who still have the eagerness to explore and adventure, while also desiring a relaxing and sophisticated atmosphere.

The goal of this project was to propose a pop-up experience that would captivate bystanders and make them curious about the Celebrity brand.

My team and I were tasked to pick a location, understand the client, create a concept, and design an immersive experience that fit with the Celebrity brand aesthetic.

200 SF STUDIO 4: COLLABORTIVE PROJECT SPRING 2023 8 WEEKS REVIT & PHOTOSHOP

THE BATTERY, LOWER MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY, NY Due to the multipurpose activities and scenic views of the Battery, both the uses and users are closely interconnected due to the communal purpose of the site. Our target demographic are young adults and young professionals with higher incomes who can enjoy the new pop-up site activities. Many office buildings are in close proximity making it a great spot for breaks.

The shape of the pop-up will mimic the oval shape of this section of the park.

Interlude is a moment to reflect, reconnect, and create lasting memories. Take a pause from the routine and indulge in a multi-sensory encounter.

As you walk around the art exhibition, you come to life within it!

Through a series of projected videography, you see yourself immersed in various locations around the world.

Celebrity Cruises offers the ability to travel to the destinations that appear on the walls, such as South America, Antarctica, Iceland, Caribbean, Africa, Canada, and Europe.
