18 December 2018 To whom it may concern, Letter of Recommendation Re: Amanda Loh Ming Huei I have known Amanda Loh during her architectural student internship at Kyoob Architects Pte Ltd from 27 August to 16 November 2018. I was also a member of the evaluation team that reviewed her work before she returned to her studies in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. During her internship with us, Amanda worked on various projects, ranging from single-user office/warehouse industrial development, landed houses to interior renovation and fitting out projects. Amanda is able to work well with the project team and is a valuable team member to complete the tasks assigned to her. For the industrial development and landed houses, Amanda demonstrated her competency in AutoCAD drafting and preparing AutoCAD drawings for tender and construction stages. She also assisted with design presentation using 3D models (Sketchup), renders (Photoshop), and illustrated layouts, demonstrating her versatility and proficiency in her approach to design. Amanda demonstrated commitment to her work, and was an exceptionally reliable and conscientious employee. She was courteous and co-operative, exhibiting excellent interpersonal skills, so important for establishing productive and agreeable relationships with co-workers. We are confident Amanda would be a positive asset to any firm that hires her, and wish her all the best in her future endeavors. Sincerely,
Kenneth Tan Senior Associate, Kyoob Architects

THE DIALOGUE MARKET THE DIALOGUE MARKET is a food hybrid cultural centre working in collaboration with Kong Chow Culture Centre (Cantonese Association) to rejuvenate the diminishing Chinese culture in Singapore. We have subconsciously classified different forms of culture into specific groups, like a theorem. THE DIALOGUE MARKET is meant to break the boundaries, and connect them as one visually and through communication of shared experiences. By concentrating different forms of culture into one entity, the audience will fully soak and engage themselves in the culture. Inspired by Lingnan-style architecture, a place that reveals interplay between nature’s art and man-made art in forms of sculptures and edifices, which boast intricate clay, porcelain, brick, wood and stone carving. Mysterious road to the same destination. This architecture style claims that new architecture should conform to the tradition in spirit instead of an image, which reflects spirit of inheritance, respect to environment and humanity.

Food is also a part of culture which is constantly evolving and developing. In collaboration with Kong Chow Cultural Centre, which focus on the fine arts and craft, I’ve decided to add food as my +hybrid, to rejuvenate the Chinese culture of Singapore.

The gentle cascade steps and vibrant performance in the ampitheatre (when in use) creates a strong visual impact, making visitors intrigued and attracted to the building.

Food plays an innportant role in starting conversations inthe Cantonese culture, in particular the teahouse. The dining space gives an opportunity to communicate through shared food and experiences.
03 | D I A L O G U E The Flea Market connected to the park is meant to recreate the bustling streets of Chinatown’s trading industry in the past. Cooking class are also conducted in the area to learn more about the Cantonese culture.
04 | E N G A G E The workshop has pale colors which is favored in Lingnan architecture. It’s simplicity and nature surrounding the library is imspired from the Lingnan’s garden.

The two level exhibition spaces are interconnected by the volumetric space. Within the two space, visitors hace a visual linkage to further relate to the Chinese culture.
CHILDCARE CENTRE RENOVATION WORKS An interior renovation project for Healthy Start Childcare Center in collaboration with their principal. All cost will be sponsored by Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Four groups will present their proposed idea and the principal will select which ideas may be implemented. We were tasked to renovate certain areas the childcare center. My group was tasked with the Library and K2 Area. The main purpose of this assignment is to teach us participatory design. We spent 3 weeks communicating with the community to understand them better, so that we can design a place which resolves their concern. The presentation explaining what we did over the 3 weeks and the proposed idea, which we presented to the principal, can be found in the link below. Our main idea: A major impact with minimal change and cost. After gaining approval from the principal. We started with the basics of clearing and cleaning up the area, which took us a week. The installation of furniture would be done in March 2018 and the project was completed in April 2018. REB IRT H IMAGINE eating dinner in a boat, as thousands of Cantonese immigrants once did when they sailed to Singapore in search of a better life. You are surrounded by trishaws, a beautiful backdrop of old shophouses, and a line of wooden stoves where chefs recreate traditional Cantonesedishes. REBIRTH a three-in-one museum, culinary workshop and restaurant aims to create a space where users could learn about Cantonese culture through its cuisine. It also aims to educate users about the food cycle, where the bottom starts off with harvest, and the roof top ends off with composting. With the open-plan space, it encourages communication, creating a bustling and vibrant atmosphere, which is something I wish to bring back into the ‘Chinatown Spirit’.
