AMANDA FINSTROM GRAPHIC DESIGN JULY 1997 A graduate of the University of South Dakota, I obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. Passionate about the exploration of textures within design, I am driven to go beyond what is expected within the status quo in the pursuit of creating content. COMPASS WEB DESIGN

Compass is a wrist device designed design collaboratively to allow you to take public transportation with ease. Some of the features include: a directional display, time management assistance, automated check-in on site, and language translation.

Bok of Change is a collaborative book created by the printmaking class of Spring 2017 semester at the University of South Dakota.

Inspiration for the concept of the book came from The Mysteries of Harris Burdick, by Chris Van Allsburg. Each member of the group was randomly selected a sentence of original text, written by Johntimothy Pizzuto, Professor of Printmaking. Working with the intaglio print process of drypoint, each person visually interpreted their sentence and invented a title to accompany their text and image. All participants printed an edition of 7 impressions, which were then collated into individul books.

Putting a virtual twist on Pulse’s new logo, I was able to collaborate and redesign Yankton High School Drumline’s new logo before the start of

their 2017 school year. Utilizing the art of sound waves, I was able to incorporate a virtual beat within their new branding. With a digital outlook, members of the band as well as theri audience can easily connect through the click of a button.

Using the sound wave art app, anyone can easily scan the Pulse logo to activate a recoding of

Yanktons school song. Whether it be located on a t-shirt, sign, or many other diverse platforms, the logo is easily recognizable. A highlight of the new branding was when Yankton Highschool marched in the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade representing their new Pulse logo.

CIRCA RING

PACKAGE DESIGN

FEBRUARY 2018

Redesigning the packaging for Circa Ring, I created a dual purpose, interactive packaging that captivates viewers. Circa Ring is a company dedicated to producing toys that will provide hours of hypnotic fun to all ages. Within the logo and ornamental features, the motion of circa ring is represented.

For the secondary purpose of the redesigned package, I created the original product to still be used with the outside parcel. On one side of the package there is an QR code giving the viewer an interactive virtual experience. Reusing the package as a paper weight or stand helps to incorporate them together as one.

Creating an online environment for kids, I was able to give the Space Foundation’s website a more modern and up to dated look that will provide kids with an outlet to learn about space. The purpose of this site is to provide a learning environment for kids about space.

MIXED MEDIA

Based on the concept of hidden and revealed, this mixed media peice is representation of the artists grandmother throught her eyes and to bystanders. Intended to be displayed with both sides of the peice visible, viewers are able to interact and compare the different qualities of each side. Capturing the ďŹ st and last memories, the peice depicts a struggle of hidden attributes leading to demise. Incorporating a variety of mixed media, the peice is brought together with a combonation of ink, saly, markers, gold leaf, matte gel medium, silver leaf, and alcohol inks.

Newb is a collaboratively designed awareness campaign geared toward college freshman to help them make their ďŹ rst year easier, get more involved on campus, and make friends. The app helps connect fellow freshman and participate in campus life. Including the planner, freshman can stay organized and gain insight by utilizing tips within their planner.

Logging into Newb, college freshman are able to easily connect with their fellow classmates. Consisting of two main features, the app is simply a breeze to navigate. The

map feature allows freshman to easily see the latest events and have the ability to create their own event. The chat feature allows students to effortlessly communicate and make plans wit their fellow peirs.

toArt welcomes the opportunity to build a top-notch mobile app that would give artists easy access to a list of things: art, artists, inspiration, business ventures, entrepreneurship , and other opportunities. The mobile app has online and offline working modes and multi-language support. The main screen displays only the categories and subcategories of the the app, clicking them will list the points of interest. Each POI will have its details screen.

Also from the main screen the user can access the search feature, feedback, the terms and conditions and the settings of the app. The app has 3 main components: explore, create and communicate. The user manages their own profile, who they communicate, the art they post. In addition, the app has a section that allows users to find people with similar interests.

CONCEAL WITHIN MIXED MEDIA

With the context of before and after, these two peices represent a hidden and revealed stated of formality. Showing an inverse within the color pallete, the context of the work is looking through another lens. Inspired by blue, the subjects are abstracted to a simpler form forcused within movement. Utilizng a string technique, the process of creating texture is mainly resulted from action painting with quick movement and precision. Incorporating a variety of media, the peice is composed of acrylic, chalk, pastel, gold lea, and silver leaf.
