•Give your name and contact details
•State the nature of the incident
•Indicate the number of people or vehicles involved
•Give the physical address and nearest corner or landmark
•Remain on the line as long as possible to answer the operator's questions.

Remain Calm: Although emergencies require swift action, the most important factor in handling the situation is to keep calm. If you find you are becoming nervous and confused, take a few deep breaths to help relax.

Be positive that you can handle the situation you found yourself in.
Determine if you can do anything to help. It is not always that you can assist in an emergency. However, there is always someone that needs support or reassurance that help is on its way.
Ask basic questions of the injured person. It is important to evaluate the mental & physical state of the injured. Ask questions like What is your name? Do you know the day? How old are you, etc?
Also important is to find out if they are allergic to anything, or do they have a medical alert bracelet and do they have a medical aid plan.

Avoid moving the injured person. Do not move the injured person until the emergency services arrives. Moving the injured may just lead to more injury especially to the neck.
