why
am I the for this internship?
because I hear you’re looking for a tenacious
is the belief that there is still a way to work something out, even if an RSVP from a family member comes back as “no.” - Google
yes, that really is what Google told me.
tenacious optimism is the belief that there is still a way to work something out.
Let’s use this as the “official” definition of “tenacious optimism” for this application.
I am tenaciously optimistic that I haven’t peaked in my career yet.
Tenacious Optimism: the belief that there is still a way to work something out 30 years old. 7 years into my career as a professional Graphic Designer. Worked for 2 ad agencies within 3 years of graduating college with my BFA in Graphic Design. Have been on an in-house creative team for the last 3 years with an architecture and engineering company.
Tenacious Optimism: the belief that there
While I enjoy design and art direction, I think I’m ready for a change in direction. That’s where Indigo Slate comes in. I’ve always loved photography and videography. I jump at the chance to do video work when given the opportunity, but I’ve come to realize that the projects I currently get are too infrequent and not challenging enough. there is still a way to work something out
I believe there is still a way for me to work out my career as a Creative—even if it’s not as a Graphic Designer, like I’d originally thought.
Is it as an Art Director? A Videographer? A Director of Photography? A Video Editor? An Assistant? I don’t know. But I would love the chance to find out through this internship.
so to answer your question about why I am the for this internship, I’ll leave you with these 3 points:
I know I don’t have it all figured out. Isn’t that the best kind of person for an internship? Someone who’s excited for new challenges, who wants to pursue paths they haven’t yet gone down. I’m eager to become a sponge and soak up as much wisdom and guidance I can get from some of the best Creatives in the world.
I may be 7 years into the creative industry, but I will never act like I know everything—because I know I don’t, and that’s why I’m here!
You don’t need to teach me the basics of using Adobe Creative Cloud programs. You can tell me to “go figure it out” and I won’t run to you every single time I have a question. I’ve been in the creative and corporate world for 7 years—and that doesn’t even include the 3 years of internships I did before graduating college.
Meeting deadlines despite quick turnarounds? Yep.
Being collaborative and having an open mind while working on a team to find a solution? You got it.
Staying curious while using previous experience to solve a creative challenge? Absolutely.
Keeping things fun despite potentially long hours and late nights? Of course!
I am the definition of a Tenacious Optimist.
Everyone who knows me laughs each time I say, “I have an idea!” because they know it’s true, I do have an idea. And tomorrow I’ll probably have a new one. I really do believe that there is still a way to work something out, no matter the creative challenge thrown my way.
It’s just who I am. I’m a Tenacious Optimist, and I think I’d be a great addition to your talented team as a Video Production Assistant Editor Intern.
