Ready, Steady, Shred?

The 10 best tips to help you kick-start your new health and fitness goals Allah’s Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him said: “A believer eats in one intestine (is satisfied with a little food), and a non-believer or a hypocrite eats in seven intestines (eats too much) (Sahih al-Bukhari 5394). Islam is clear on the notion of health. Low levels of physical activity and over consumption on food contribute to many diseases and sicknesses such as diabetes, cardiovascular problems, obesity and some cancers. Islam encourages a balance to all aspects of life and this also encompasses health. Gymnasiums provide communities the help people need to achieve ‘good’ health. Most gyms consist of treadmills, ropes, weights, machines, dumbbells and bars. There are ‘Muslim friendly’ gyms across Australia that provide the comfortable environment Australian Muslims desire such as gender-separated gyms. There are also gyms embedded in Muslim centres. A great example is the Hume Islamic Youth Centre (HIYC), which has a fitness arena, including boxing and weights. Acknowledging that one is encouraged to enjoy a balanced, healthy lifestyle I will overview the top 10 tips for Australian Muslims before signing up at the gym. 1.Choose a gym that suits you. Do your research on which gym provides the

By Tolga Akturk best facilities in your area, which has the appropriate hours of opening and staff. Note: Whether you find it suitable not your friend. 2.Trial the gym before you sign up. 3.Consider your regular routine and visualise training at the gym. Decide what suits you better. Some of us enjoy training at night after work, others after morning prayer. 4.Next, find a suitable training partner. This could be a work colleague if you train after work, friend or family member. The key here is to find someone who has similar goals and a fitness background. One who is positive and has good energy to help bounce back to you. 5.Set a goal. Just one to begin with,

for example: ‘I will go to the gym three times a week for this month’. Make it achievable and begin small. 6.Map a plan. Draw up a fitness plan for what days; time and how long you plan to do each week. 7.Do not bandwagon the ‘broscience’. Ask personal trainers, health coaches and conditioning staff for advice; do your research. 8.Protein powder = awesome? Don’t jump the gun. Protein is a macronutrient that our body produces and uses for muscle growth and repair. Elite athletes use supplements such as protein powder. Eggs, tuna, green leafy vegetables, beans, cheese, milk, nuts and seeds are rich in protein. Don’t fall for the marketing trap. 9.Attire. Ensure your clothing is comfortable. Example would be a loose shirt or track pants. Enjoy your workout! 10.Lastly, invest in a sports watch, smart phone application or even a diary to track your work. Begin from the day you walk into the gym. It will help you maintain your goals. Secrets Of Quran Miracles

Plants that Talk to other Plants By Abduldaem Al-Kaheel

It’s been proven scientifically that every human being since the days of Adam, PBUH, until now has a special finger print that distinguishes them from other people and that no two persons have the same print. Such prints are distinguished by complex lines of bends, a method to distinguish the identity of people. If the fingers of people were flat and didn’t have such lines, detectives wouldn’t be able to trace crimes for instance. The holy Qur’an revealed this scientific fact that has been discovered merely recently for the holy Qur’an tells us that Allah, the exalted is able to put together the tips of man’s fingers; Allah, the almighty says: “Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers.” Qiyama or The Resurrection 75:4

Kim Mubarak

Federal Senate Candidate 2014 no sugar daddy or vested political interest groups. He is standing all alone with support and good will from grass roots West Australian citizens like you! In many ways soft spoken but very determined Mr Mubarak is truly an independent who says “think before you vote for the right person for the Senate” and ” make your vote count”. Australia needs to ‘democratise‘ and ‘save’ its political system from big corporate interests and its faceless men who without doubt

undermine people’s political right. A record number of 77 candidates are registered for this historical yet controversial re-run of the Senate seat. There is great deal of media interest in this election and has once again put West Australia back into political history brining back memories of 1933. Every Australian irrespective of race, colour or religion should be encouraged and supported to stand for political office. This is Australia after all, Australia was the first western country that gave women vote and gave workers their political rights. Mr Mubarak hails from Uganda and is a astute political mind with university education who spend

years in civil rights advocacy for the underclass and voiceless people in the developing world and in Australia. Voting for Mr Kim Mubarak will signal a new change in Canberra as we can elect our first African West Australian to Federal Parliament. Western Australia electors on election day have real opportunity to create history by electing a minority person,a battler and a underdog by giving him the opportunity to win on election day. Scientists at the University of Western Australia are trying to study a weird phenomenon about sound frequencies that are transmitted by plants and how plants are affected by human sounds. Scientists have found, according to the journal of trends in botanical sciences 2012, the first evidence that plants steadily chat and communicate with other plants through sounds that man can’t hear and such sounds require highly accurate devices to record them. The study found that plants not only communicate with other plants through sound but they are also affected by sounds. Scientists expect that sound plays a significant role in the life, growth, and development of plants. Such discovery of acoustic vibrations of plants means that plants speak. Having known such discovery, we shouldn’t find it weird that one of the miracles of Prophet Mohammad, PBUH, was that he talked to plants especially when the tree’s trunk longed for him. We shouldn’t also find it weird that plants celebrate the praises of Allah, the almighty; Allah, the exalted says in the holy Qur’an: “The seven heavens and the earth, and all beings therein, declare His glory: there is not a thing but celebrates His praise; And yet ye understand not how they declare His glory! Verily He is Oft-Forbear, Most Forgiving!” Isra’: 17: 44

Football NSW supports FIFA’s decision on the wearing of Hijabs By Mark Stavroulakis Football NSW has supported FIFA’s decision to officially authorise the wearing of head covers including hijabs and turbans for religious purposes during matches. “It was decided that female players can cover their heads to play,’’ said FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke at a meeting of the International Football Association Board in Zurich. Football NSW CEO Eddie Moore praised FIFA’s decision one which the organisation supported in 2012 where it was reiterated to all member clubs and associations that Football NSW allowed players to wear hijabs or headscarfs. “Football NSW applauds the decision of FIFA on lifting the ban. “We respect the cultural diversity which makes up the tapestry and fabric of our sport. “We also do not wish to see any barrier placed in the way of participation as football is the connection for us, it is the world game and it brings everyone together. “This positive decision will remove all barriers and bring in more female footballers into the game as this sport is for everyone from any race, culture and religion to enjoy.” This landmark decision will allow female Muslim players who wear a veil in everyday life to cover their heads during matches, and Valcke added that male players will also be authorised to do so. “It was decided that male players can play with head cover too,’’ he said, although they will not be the same as

FNSW CEO Eddie Moore shown with Eastern UNSW Lions player Assmaah Helal those worn day to day. “It will be a basic head cover and the colour should be the same as the team jersey.’’ 27-year-old Eastern UNSW Lions footballer Assmaah Helal was delighted with the news and applauded the decision of FIFA as well as acknowledged the support Football NSW played in 2012. “This is excellent and welcoming news. “This is a great step forward for FIFA truly living up to the motto of football being the world game, being a game that is inclusive of all cultures and people of different faith. “This will enable more young girls and women to feel comfortable participating in football knowing they won’t have to

compromise their beliefs and it allows girls initially hesitant in participating in football to take that step. “It will also enable girls who wear the hijab to consider football as a profession and to perhaps fulfil their dreams to represent their country at an elite level. “Full credit needs to be given to people like HRH Prince Ali of Jordan and former Matildas and FIFA executive Moya Dodd for their hard work behind the scenes as well as Football NSW to campaign against this ban further highlighting the unity that football engenders where people from diverse backgrounds stand up for the rights of others.” Source:www.footballnsw.com.au
