This portfolio contains selected works made during my bachelors and masters in Architecture. Both from my time at the Bergen School of Architecture in Bergen, Norway. And from my exchange abroad at KU Leuven Architecture in Belgiun. The works are selected to show my different skillsets, from working with hand drawing and digital tools, to my very hands on, model based approach.

Wavebreaker: Protecting
A LIVING TRANSITION IN-BETWEEN THE PAST AND FUTURE CITY.
The new city part of Dokken is coming, expanding the city and changing its layout and movement patterns forever. Bergen municipality's plan to transform Dokken into an urban city of 3000 apartments and 7000 jobs will make this neglected square a key connective space in the city centre.
In-between The existing city and the future Dokken plans is Nøstet, and specifically Nøstetorget. This is a forgotten place in the city that today works as little more than an roundabout for tourist busses, but used to be so much more. It will work as a springboard between the old and the new city, and serve many functions, such as markets, public squares, and a living seafront.
It became important to bring back the scale of the old city, and work with the historical layers of the site. Bringing back the historical waterline and unearthing the sugar pier, but also following the thematics, shapes and scales of the old buildings in the area when implementing new form.
NØSTEBADET: Heated outdoor all year activity, food court.

Saunas, cafes, etc creating a floating social village.

A SOCIAL AND CULTURAL ARENA
It was important to give the site programs that could help in our goal of creating an active, social arena. Our goal was to have programs and activities both day and night, all year round.
The connection to, and tension with water is very important at this site. In order to bring people closer to the water we extended the walkways and made the whole waterfront walkable. We also implementet different stairs going into the water, creating easy access to and from it. It was apparant that the waterfront was a two sided issue. We decided to work with the waterfront as a street, creating activites on both sides. In the water with the sauna village, stairs, swimming and boat access. While on land we imagined street life with lights, restaurants, galleries, bars and cafes.
NØSTEBODEN No. 2
Nøsteboden 2 is an extension of the public marked square, functioning as a public umbrella. The pavillion serves as a supportive structure for the site, creating a calmer zone that the historic Nøsteboden can use and benefit from. It is a space, directly connected to the public square where activites can take place, protected from the rain.
In our process it was important to make a building that spoke with, and was based on the logic of the original Nøstebod. We worked with materiality, color, shape, function and direction. Our pavillion is an attempt to respect the historic building as well as re-interpret it.
NØSTEBADET
Nøstebadet brings water onto land, blurring the boundaries. Adding a heated, all year accessible swimming alternative to the site, and future city.
Nøstebadet is a transformation project, where the existing parking building is transformed into a multi purpose community and bathing house. We worked with, and not against the existing concrete structure, reusing and repurposing materials and space where possible. It was important for us to bring back the old function of public swimming from the historical Sydnes sea bath that used to be in the area before the big landfill in the 90s. Also creating a new spot for swimming and socializing in the area now that the Central bath (Sentralbadet) is shut down forever.

What is the state of ruin?
As the project developed, my fascination with the site shifted more and more toward the ruin itself. The ruin is something of neither man, nor nature. It is something that exists inbetween. Built by man, then shaped by the elements, plants and human neglect. This is a quality I wished to preserve, and in some ways strengthen. My explorations centered around how to preserve the ruin without renovating it into a structure. At what point has the threshold been crossed, and the ruin rebuilt?.
In order to stabilize the walls of the ruin, and put it in a stasis where the current state of the ruin could be preserved, I added an external steel structure. This structure has the logic of shaping itself according to the ruin. The structure is made of steel columns, beams and joints that are modular. The columns and beams are bolted in place with the use of a metal joint that has the possibility of added beams in four directions. This structure makes it possible to hug the ruin, and use the existing openings as places for the structure to go through the ruin. Leaving the ruin, a ruin.
The result is a space that is of both ruin and preservation.
The combination of these two elements, ruin and structure gives us a space that is somewhere inbetween building and not. The unregular brick walls stand tall, clothed in a brace of steel. The space inside can either be roofed, or open to the sky. Decorated and filled, or left empty. This is a space that is meant to change as needed in terms of present, but also future use.

FROM PROJECT TO REALITY
ated in city park.
During the construction period we as a class had solve the economics, get building materials delivered to the site, and ofcourse build the project. This was a very good experience as it allowed us to make student drawings into reality.
GROWTH:
A SCHOOL OF NATURE, HUMANS, AND ALL THE OTHER WILD THINGS.
GROWTH is a school where children have the opportunity to grow safely in a situation where they can interact with and be taught about nature. The project creates a situation and atmosphere where humans and the other creatures we share our planet with can learn to co-exist.
The climate crisis, and the destruction of natural habitats is a serious threat to us and our planet. It is vital to give our children, the future generations, the people that will have to live and deal with the consequenses, a caring relationship and understanding of nature, and of how our world works.
The transformation and reuse of the existing building (Spelhaugen 22) was a large part of this project, working with how the old concrete structure could be altered and used to house the new program. Growth is a school of trasitions, from inside to outside, from building to forest. It is in the inbetween of these poles that Growth is situated. In order to understand nature, you must experience it. This proposal investegates how bringing the physical aspect of nature into the everyday life of children can change their attitude and acclimation. Teaching our young to respect both small critters and mighty oak trees.

GREEN ATTACK
In order to find out how I could bring the green, the forest, or nature into the existing building I did the ``Green attack``.
This was an exercise where I tried to imagine different ways that the green could approach and interact with the site and building.
THE LIVING MODEL
Nature, and the growing and tending of plants was a large part of this project. As a way of immersing myself within this theme I decided to learn about agriculture and urban farming.
I did tests on my balcony at home, and the result of this became the living model. A 1:100 model with various living plants, from small trees such as Pine, Ash and Birch, all living and rooted. The tree saplings and soil was collected on the project site. To planting a potato in the potato field, and strawberries in the greenhouse.

WORKING IN MODEL
As a way to visualize ideas I worked with models in different ways, both in process, using models as a working tool and to show how the finished result works.
