8 Signs of Hearing Loss you may be ignoring Hearing loss occurs gradually with aging. Research suggests about one-third of the general Australian population have hearing loss. Similar to any other medical condition, this too needs to be addressed at the earliest possible convenience. However, not everybody realizes this. Many even ignore it without realizing it. This needs to be treated at the earliest if you are seen having any symptoms. Following are some of the common signs you that you may consider: 1. You have trouble following a conversation while multiple people are conversing at the same time: The ability to process multiple conversations in group or social situations tends to deteriorate over time. Hence being a little lost in conversation occasionally is not always a symptom of hearing loss. When you are at a work meeting or having dinner, you might face a hard time keeping up with multiple people at the same time. This is often a sign of having hearing loss. 2. Family complains of the TV being too loud: Television programs can also get quite challenging to follow. When you turn the TV up louder, it does not always clear the issue of sound up. However, when you consistently require the TV to get turned up, it often tends to get quite uncomfortable for others sitting in a room or even for the neighbours. Hence it is probably time to get a ​Hearing Test​ ​done. 3. You face trouble hearing in noisy environments: Do you find yourself from time to time - while you are enjoying dinner at a restaurant; the background sound seems to make it quite challenging to hear the folks at the table. Individuals experiencing hearing loss often seem to have problems masking the background noise while focusing on the speech. 4. You tend to misunderstand whatever is being told to you: Misunderstanding can be embarrassing and often stem from hearing loss. If you too are misunderstanding people and their conversations, it is a sign you may have hearing loss. 5. Being annoyed and frustrated during talking: It is quite common to get frustrated, however, not every time. If you are getting frustrated every time during a conversation, then it is time to get it checked. 6. Painful sounds: Becoming extremely sensitive to selected sounds is a sign of hearing loss. When you lose hearing, you might become quite sensitive to particular sounds, up until the point where it can cause discomfort and pain. 7. 8.
