YOUR GIFT MATTERS FOR STUDENT EXPERIENCES
Annual gifts ensure students gain a sense of belonging and have the support they need to excel inside and outside the classroom.
As a first-year student, I enjoy participating in the activities that student organizations put on throughout the semester. It is a great way to connect with my peers and meet others. I’m a member of the Alverno golf team, which I enjoy because we know how to carry out Alverno’s values on the course.

YOUR GIFT MATTERS FOR STUDENT SUCCESS

I always wanted to go to Alverno, but I didn’t think I could afford a private college. I reached out to Alverno’s Financial Aid team and they helped me understand my award. Getting a scholarship made it possible for me to come here.

YOUR GIFT MATTERS FOR STUDENT CAREER DEVELOPMENT
Partnerships with area companies such as Kohl’s Corporation benefit both students and the companies. The Kohl’s Scholars program provides $25,000 in scholarships to five students annually. Kohl’s Scholars also have the opportunity to participate in “A Day at Kohl’s,” a biannual event where scholars meet with Kohl’s leadership through a women’s leadership roundtable, tour the corporate headquarters and get a firsthand look at what it’s like to work in corporate retail.
Being a Kohl’s Scholar has given me opportunities to explore corporate careers, as well as learn from Kohl’s leaders and hear their perspectives on business topics that interest me. I am thankful to Kohl’s for my scholarship. I hope to one day be in the position in which I can support students with my expertise and provide the same opportunity I had as an Alverno student.

YOUR GIFT MATTERS FOR OUR FAMILIES
Alverno College has offered childcare services to students since 1969. Today, Alverno is among only 9.2% of private nonprofit four-year colleges that offer on-campus childcare.
A new grant-funded program supported by the U.S. Department of Education is helping Alverno students with children by removing the barrier of access to affordable childcare. This helps keeps students with exceptional financial need in class and on track to graduate.
The childcare grant was the key piece that made it possible for me to go back to school. The grant and childcare facility on campus were a true blessing to me and my family, and I hope more families can continue to have access to the same opportunities.

YOUR GIFT MATTERS TO OUR NEXT GENERATION
National grants and awards announced this year are supporting Alverno’s efforts to educate diverse school psychologists to serve in K-12 schools, and to research and develop strategies to increase retention of women in STEM degree programs and career fields. Additionally, Alverno’s Girls’ Academy — a free afterschool program for high school juniors and seniors — offers weekly hands-on lessons for girls to improve their science and math abilities and prepare them for success in college.
There is a significant gender gap in STEM, in both education and the workforce. Increasing the number of women in STEM is crucial to bringing new ideas and different perspectives to the table, paving the way for better innovation. We are thrilled to continue our work in this area, and honored to be chosen for an award from NASA.
