WHAT IS THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION? The University of Helsinki Alumni Association

is an independent and active community for all those who leave the University but for whom the University never leaves. Every year, we offer more than 50 events for alumni interested in science, culture, working life, travel and celebrations, as well as diverse discounts from sport services to cultural events and from restaurants to books and magazines. As a member, you can stay in touch with the University, influence and support the development of the university community and the employment of students, and meet both old and new acquaintances in an academic atmosphere. All former and current students and employees of the University of Helsinki can become members of the Alumni Association.

WHY SHOULD I JOIN? THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION OFFERS YOU:

• A unique academic community where you can stay connected to the University, regain contact with old friends and forge new bonds with other alumni. • More than 50 events per year, including scientific lectures, cultural events, trips, celebrations, career events and joint events with the University. • Diverse benefits and discounts e.g. on concert and theatre tickets, magazines, books, lunches and sports services.

AS A MEMBER, YOU GET A CHANCE TO:

• Support the activities of the University and influence the development of the university community. Already by joining as a member, you support our work for the good of the University and students! • Volunteer and help e.g. students’ employment possibilities with a small amount of work. • Actively influence the Alumni Association’s own activities and future.

MEMBERSHIP FEES YOU CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN DIFFERENT MEMBERSHIP TYPES:

• One year membership (39 €) • Three year membership (117 €) • Lifetime membership (500 €) • Couple membership: Two alumni sharing the same household can purchase a joint couple membership for one year (59 €) or three years (177 €) • Freshmen Alumni: If you have graduated less than two years ago or are still a student at the University of Helsinki, you qualify as Freshmen Alumni (20 €).

COMMUNICATION

The Alumni Association communicates about current activities to its members mainly by e-mail. You can also find topical information on our website, in our member magazine and on social media (Facebook: facebook.com/Alumniyhdistys, LinkedIn: linkedin.com/groups/8431519). We communicate mainly in Finnish, but we try our best to have at least the most important information available also in Swedish and English. If you need additional information, you are always welcome to contact us in English!
