LETTER FROM THE EDITOR If you’re anything like me, as the semester and the decade come to an end, as we enter this transitional period, you feel obligated to reflect. Long winter nights are spent looking back on what used to be. And with each revisited memory, you find an iteration of yourself suspended in time.

These freeze frames are two fold. First, they are a past you, navigating the world for the first time. Second, they, together, inform your future identity, each version of yourself providing an additional layer to your personhood. They exist in a space between the past and the future.

Our 10th issue, Liminal Space, explores this realm between, whether between past and future, public and private, light and dark, or good and evil. It is in this liminal space that we are less confined by rules of fashion and gender, by moral and societal judgements. In this space devoid of the binary confines, we truly have the freedom to express ourselves and express ourselves fully.

Of all the issues I have worked on in my years at ALT, this is by far the most honest. I hope you, reader, take a moment to delve into this sincerity and enjoy, as we have, the freedom of being between.

A special thank you to the Botany Garden and Greenhouse without which we would not have been able to create this transformative issue. The Botany Garden and Greenhouse holds the Department of Botany’s extensive collection of more than 1,500 unique species of plants. This collection of aquatics, succulents, bryophytes, ferns, orchids,herbs, and woody plants are used to teach 14 different classes, train graduates, and for countless guided tours.
