Jure Repanšek studied at the private GEA College in Ljubljana, which is primarily focused on entrepreneurship education, a field close to his heart since childhood. This passion for entrepreneurship drove him to start his ventures at a young age, and as a result, he never completed his studies at the university.
Jure grew up in Mengeš, which is part of the central Slovenian region, but in spirit, he aligns more with the Gorenjska region – in terms of nature, people, and simplicity... all of which deeply resonate with him.

Jure je odraščal v Mengšu, ki je sicer del Osrednjeslovenske regije, vendar se po duhu bolj ujema z Gorenjsko – v smislu narave, ljudi in preprostosti ... vse to pa je Juretu zelo blizu.
Regarding tourism, he ventured into it quite spontaneously when he was barely 27. Together with his colleague Damian Merlak, they initially took over the management of a small apartment complex in Bohinj, Tuba Apartments in Ukanc. This led to more regular visits to Bohinj, where they were increasingly saddened by the sight of numerous deteriorating properties. »It was bewildering to see how such a magnificent gem was allowing so many properties to deteriorate, including the once-proud Zlatorog Hotel, a cornerstone of Bohinj tourism.« Jure recalls.
With an interest in acquiring the Hotel Zlatorog, they received offers for other accommodation facilities, including the Triglav Apartments which they renovated and reopened in the summer of 2019. This was followed by a thorough renovation and reopening of the Hotel Bohinj, which has been enriching the accommodation offer in Bohinj for the third year in a row. However, renovations for both Hotel Zlatorog and the Ski Hotel Vogel are still to come.
Years later, he is excited to stay in Bohinj, especially after receiving such wonderful feedback from satisfied guests and the local community. All of this further confirms that Jure is on the right path.
He comes from a hospitality family, and working with people has always been close to his heart.
What are your plans for the Alpinia Group?
Currently, we are successfully operating our existing accommodation facilities, but a new gem, Vila Muhr, will be unveiled shortly. This luxury villa raises the bar for high-quality living in Bohinj.
Vila Muhr represents not only prestige but also a rich history, as it was built by the renowned Viennese merchant, Adolf Muhr. The royal engagement between Prince George and Princess Marina took place in front of its doors. We will preserve and enhance this extraordinary royal legacy for our guests by offering top-notch service in true royal style.
Our story will continue with the construction of the Hotel Zlatorog, which
Kar zadeva turizem, se je pri komaj 27 letih povsem spontano odločil za to področje. S kolegom Damianom Merlakom sta sprva prevzela upravljanje manjšega apartmajskega objekta v Bohinju, Apartmaje Tuba v Ukancu. Tako so njuni obiski Bohinja postali pogostejši, a vedno bolj ju je žalostil pogled na številne propadajoče objekte. »Čudilo naju je, kako lahko tako veličasten biser dopušča propadanje številnih objektov, med drugim tudi Hotela Zlatorog, ki je bil nekdaj ponos bohinjskega turizm.,« pravi Jure.
Ob zanimanju za nakup Hotela Zlatorog so se pojavile ponudbe za druge nastanitvene objekte, med drugim za Apartmaje Triglav – poleti 2019 so jih prenovili in ponovno odprli. Sledila je temeljita prenova in ponovno odprtje Hotela Bohinj, ki že tretje leto bogati nastanitveno ponudbo v Bohinju. V načrtih pa sta tudi prenova Hotela Zlatorog in Ski hotela Vogel.
Po vseh teh letih z navdušenjem gleda na to, da se je znašel v Bohinju, zlasti glede na čudovite odzive zadovoljnih gostov in pozitivne povratne informacije lokalne skupnosti. Vse to še dodatno potrjuje, da je Jure izbral pravo pot. Prihaja iz gostinske družine, zato mu je bilo delo z ljudmi od nekdaj pri srcu.
Kakšni so vaši načrti za skupino Alpinia?
Trenutno uspešno poslujemo z našimi obstoječimi namestitvenimi objekti, a kmalu bomo razkrili nov dragulj – Vilo Muhr. Ta luksuzna vila bo postavila nov standard kakovosti bivanja v Bohinju.
Vila Muhr ne predstavlja zgolj prestiža, temveč tudi bogato zgodovino, saj jo je zgradil ugledni dunajski trgovski mogotec Adolf Muhr. Pred njenimi vrati se je odvila tudi kraljevska zaroka med princem Georgom in princeso Marino. To izjemno kraljevsko dediščino bomo ohranili in nadgradili v sami izkušnji bivanja naših gostov, ki bodo uživali v vrhunski storitvi, ki jo ponujamo v pravem kraljevskem slogu.
Naša zgodba se bo nadaljevala z izgradnjo Hotela Zlatorog, nekoč ponosa bohinjskega turizma. Načrti so že pripravljeni, čeprav nas je državno kolesje nekoliko zaustavilo, nas to ne bo odvrnilo od naše začrtane poti. Z neomajno odločnostjo jo bomo nadaljevali do vrha, tako kot so to storili

With unwavering determination, we will continue our journey to the top, just as the four brave men did in conquering Triglav. This courage and dedication are ingrained in the DNA of all Alpinia employees, especially in the story of the Hotel Bohinj.
And that's not all; the best is yet to come. We are still waiting for the renovation of the Vogel hotel, which is perched on a breathtaking cliff. We believe that this project will add a special charm and complement our wide and interesting offerings.

How does the subject of sustainability fit into Alpinia's operations?
Sustainability is ingrained in every aspect of our business at Alpinia. This is especially evident in the story of Hotel Bohinj, where sustainability was emphasized from the start. Instead of demolishing the hotel, we opted for a thorough renovation, despite the significantly higher financial investment. We made this decision because we believe in a sustainable future and in respecting the environment. After all, we are located in the stunning nature of the Triglav National Park.

We also implement a sustainable approach in our daily operations. We collaborate with the local community and employ local talent who, in addition to offering smiles, also provide excellent advice for exploring the lesser-known surroundings. We work with local residents to offer services, products, and food. This allows guests to taste local cheeses from nearby farms as well as seasonal vegetables that were just picked from the field a few hours before and are now on their plates. Our à la carte menu features seasonal and local flavors, giving guests a unique insight into the culinary delights of Bohinj.
The hotel prioritizes sustainability in its daily resource consumption. Everything, from showers to lighting, is designed to reduce use. We never stop on this path; we are always looking for new solutions. Currently, we are working on improving food waste management, developing our own garden, and soon we will add beehives. So, we take a step forward in this direction every day. We also subtly encourage our guests to join us in these efforts.
What distinguishes your hotels from other hotels of this type?
Regardless of all the details we strive to pay attention to, in the end, it is the guest experience that matters most. This primarily involves our staff. You can have the most beautiful hotel in the world, but without the right people who are wholeheartedly dedicated to their work, you have nothing. Our team is the heart and soul of our accommodation facilities. We build on connectivity and collaboration, but above all, on mutual respect. As the CEO of the company, I believe in open communication and

Tako lahko gostje pri zajtrku okusijo lokalne sire z bližnjih kmetij in sezonsko zelenjavo, ki je bila še pred nekaj urami na njivi, zdaj pa je že na njihovem krožniku. Naš à la carte meni temelji na sezonskih in lokalnih okusih, kar gostom omogoča edinstven vpogled v kulinarične užitke Bohinja.
V hotelu smo osredotočeni na trajnost tudi pri vsakodnevni uporabi različnih virov. Vse, od tušev do osvetlitve, je zasnovano tako, da čim bolj zmanjšamo porabo. Na tej poti nikoli ne počivamo, vedno iščemo nove rešitve. Trenutno delamo na izboljšanju upravljanja z odpadno hrano, razvijamo lasten vrtiček in kmalu bomo dodali tudi čebelnjak. Tako vsak dan naredimo nov korak v to smer. K temu pa – seveda na nevsiljiv način –spodbujamo tudi naše goste.
Kaj loči vaše hotele od drugih hotelov tega tipa?
Ne glede na vse detajle, v katere res skušamo polagati veliko pozornosti, je na koncu izkušnja gosta tista, ki je v osredju. Se pravi predvsem kadri delajo razliko. Lahko imaš najlepši hotel na svetu, toda brez pravih ljudi, ki so z vsem srcem predani svojemu delu, nimaš ničesar. Naša ekipa je srce in duša naših namestitvenih objektov.

Our goal is for every employee to feel a sense of belonging and passion for their work. I believe that this approach not only improves the working environment but also enriches the experience of our guests. When our employees work with their hearts, our guests feel it too. That's why our hotels are special – not only because of the architecturally refined buildings (especially Hotel Bohinj and Vila Muhr), but also because of the exceptional people who co-create them.
How do you spend your free time? And how do you connect family life and work?
I mainly dedicate it to leading the Alpinia Group, as I coordinate numerous projects, including the construction of Vila Muhr and plans for the Hotel Zlatorog. However, I always try to find moments for myself. One of the projects that is especially close to my heart is managing the Mengeš Hut, which was previously run by my father. This hut is a true oasis of peace, where I like to escape to clear my thoughts, even if I often work there as well. So, I combine the enjoyable with the useful.
I also try to spend as much time as possible with my family, including our joint getaways to beautiful places. If you ask my close ones, they will say that I have no free time. But I try to find it as much as possible, despite numerous obligations. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle. Gradimo na povezanosti in sodelovanju, predvsem pa na medsebojnem spoštovanju. Kot direktor podjetja verjamem v odprto komunikacijo in vedno sem pripravljen prisluhniti vsakemu članu naše ekipe. Trudim se ustvariti okolje, kjer se vsak posameznik počuti cenjenega in pomembnega.
Naš cilj je, da vsak zaposleni čuti pripadnost in strast do svojega dela. Verjamem, da ta pristop ne le izboljšuje delovno okolje, ampak tudi bogati izkušnjo naših gostov. Kako preživljate svoj prosti čas? Kako povezujete družinsko življenje in delo?
Z vidika časa, ki ga imam na voljo, ga vsekakor glavnino namenim vodenju podjetja Alpinia, saj usklajujem številne projekte, med njimi izgradnjo Vile Muhr in načrte za Hotel Zlatorog. Kljub temu si vedno skušam najti trenutke zase. Eden izmed projektov, ki mi je še posebej pri srcu, je vodenje Mengeške koče, ki jo je nekdaj vodil moj oče. Ta koča je prava oaza miru, kamor rad pobegnem, da si zbistrim misli, čeprav tudi tam pogosto delam. Tako združujem prijetno s koristnim.
Čim več časa poskušam nameniti tudi družini in našim skupnim pobegom na lepše. Če vprašate moje bližnje, bi rekli, da prostega časa nimam. Sam se trudim, da ga, kljub številnim obveznostim, čim več najdem. Resnica je verjetno nekje vmes. Ravno ta balans med delom in prostim časom me ohranja motiviranega in polnega energije za nove izzive.
Where do you like to travel and what kind of hotels do you like to stay in?
Traveling is an important source of inspiration and relaxation for me. I prefer to travel to places that offer beautiful nature and opportunities for active leisure time. Mountains, lakes, and untouched nature are particularly dear to me since I can find peace and new ideas for our projects there.
In terms of accommodations, I prefer boutique hotels that offer a unique experience and a personalized approach. I appreciate hotels where attention to detail is paramount and foster a sense of connection with the local culture and environment. Such hotels not only provide comfort but also offer an authentic experience of the place I am visiting. We strive to incorporate this approach into our accommodation facilities, providing our guests a similar experiential journey.
Kam najraje potujete in v kakšnih hotelih bivate?
Potovanja so zame pomemben vir navdiha in sprostitve. Najraje potujem v kraje, ki ponujajo čudovito naravo in možnost aktivnega preživljanja prostega časa. Gore, jezera in neokrnjena narava so mi še posebej pri srcu, saj tam najdem mir in hkrati nove ideje za naše projekte.
Kar se tiče bivanja, raje izbiram butične hotele, ki ponujajo edinstveno izkušnjo in osebni pristop. Cenim hotele, kjer je pozornost do podrobnosti na prvem mestu in kjer se čuti povezanost z lokalno kulturo in okoljem. Takšni hoteli mi nudijo ne samo udobje, ampak tudi pristno izkušnjo kraja, ki ga obiskujem. Prav ta pristop poskušamo vnašati tudi v naše namestitvene objekte in ki prinašajo podobno izkustveno doživetje tudi našim gostom.

Originally built in 1902 at the behest of Adolf Muhr, Vila Muhr was designed as a grand hunting lodge. Throughout its rich history, the villa has served various noble purposes. In 1934, English Prince George and Greek Princess Marina became engaged in front of it, increasing its international reputation. After the war, it operated as an eye hospital and a convalescent home for patients and war orphans. Later, it was acquired by Kompas and served as a tourist facility. In 2014, the villa succumbed to the weight of heavy snow, marking its bitter end.
Nevertheless, Vila Muhr rose from the ashes of its past in late autumn last year, and it has shone in full splendor this year as the latest addition to the Alpinia group. Vila Muhr, prvotno zgrajena leta 1902 po naročilu Adolfa Muhra, je bila zasnovana kot velika lovska hiša. Skozi svojo bogato zgodovino je služila različnim plemenitim namenom. Leta 1934 sta se pred njo zaročila angleški princ George in grška princesa Marina, kar ji je prineslo še dodatno veljavo na mednarodni ravni. Po vojni je delovala kot očesna bolnišnica in okrevališče za bolnike ter vojne sirote. Kasneje je bila v lasti družbe Kompas in je služila kot turistični objekt. Leta 2014 pa je vila podlegla teži težkega snega, kar je pomenilo njen bridki konec.
Kljub temu se je iz pepela svoje preteklosti Vila Muhr začela znova dvigati pozno jeseni lanskega leta, letos pa je zasijala v polnem sijaju kot najnovejši dodatek skupini Alpinia. To ponovno rojstvo obljublja ne samo vrnitev njene nekdanje slave, temveč tudi dvig ponudbe na novo raven luksuza in ekskluzivnosti.

Technological advances over the past two decades have had a significant impact on the creation of hotel services, and together with the easy accessibility of digital technology, they have brought new paradigms to business operations. Hoteliers find themselves in a situation where they must keep up with technological innovations if they want to remain competitive in the market. With the advancement of computer technology, artificial intelligence has become increasingly reliable and is steadily taking up more space in the business world, including in tourism and hospitality, where companies are increasingly using AI systems to perform specific tasks, gradually transforming the hotel industry.
On the other hand, guests are also technologically savvy and want hotels to have everything they have at home and work. They have grown accustomed to the convenience of technology access to information and services in many aspects of their lives, including work, shopping, and travel to news and entertainment. Therefore, they expect this luxury to extend to their hotel experience as well. The primary purpose and goal of hotel operations is to satisfy the wishes and needs of guests, and as the demand increased, so has the quality and accessibility of modern technology that hotels offer.
Hotel operations using artificial intelligence have proven success in many areas. By quickly processing guest data, recognizing their faces and voices, recording their preferences and habits, monitoring consumer habits and choices, AI can very quickly offer recommendations for new services and products and solve potential problems promptly. AI systems can operate all day, every day, without fatigue—providing a service that is active 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. From smart rooms tailored to guest needs to chatbots and robotic servers for seamless check-in, real-time pricing communication, answering questions about local restaurants and sightseeing options, all of these technologies help free up human staff for more complex tasks and guest requests.
Like any other field, AI systems have their shortcomings. The biggest is certainly a lack
of emotional intelligence, which may result in inadequate information and consequently errors. Therefore, the right path is probably somewhere in the middle. The future of the hotel industry lies in combining technological advancements and human potential, with the aim of providing guests not only with a pleasant but also an authentic experience. Employees in accommodation establishments are undoubtedly the heart of the hotel, and machines can never fully replace them. However, we must acknowledge that AI is making its way into the hotel industry, bringing innovations and improvements.

Zaposleni v namestitvenih objektih so nedvomno osrčje hotela in stroji jih nikoli ne bodo mogli v celoti nadomestiti. Pa vendar si moramo priznati, da si umetna inteligenca lepo utira pot tudi v hotelirstvu, saj s sabo prinaša inovacije in izboljšave. The latest competition, Constructive Alps 2022, was particularly successful for Slovenia, with three Slovenian projects making it to the shortlist. Among the awarded projects was the renovation of the Šenk estate in Jezersko.
Zadnji natečaj, Constructive Alps 2022, je bil posebej uspešen za Slovenijo, saj so se v ožji izbor uvrstili trije slovenski projekti. Med nagrajenimi projekti je bila obnova posestva Šenk na Jezerskem.
Slovenia is a small country that connects the Mediterranean coast to the Julian Alps, a breathtakingly beautiful landscape. However, the Slovenian Alpine landscape is a particularly sensitive environment of precious untouched nature, defined by adverse weather and topographical conditions, and therefore a clearly developed tradition of ecologically sustainable building heritage.
Slovenia joined the Alpine Convention, an international accord adopted in the 1990s. Its primary objective is to ensure comprehensive protection and sustainable development of the Alpine world while also at the same time protecting the economic and cultural interests of the inhabitants that live there, including the preservation of regional identities and cultural particularities, typical settlement designs, and the preservation and restoration of traditional building heritage.
All interventions in protected alpine areas, especially architectural ones, must be long-term thoughtful, shaped, and materially subordinated to the Alpine scenery while respecting the cultural context. Slovenian architecture in the Alps is stunning and innovative. It develops an examplary interaction with its surroundings through design and the use of contemporary and traditional materials, as well as influencing the future development of architecture throughout the Alpine region.
This has also been recognized by the Constructive Alps initiative - a joint initiative by Liechtenstein and Switzerland to implement the Alpine Convention climate action plan. Every two years, an international award for sustainable construction and renovation in the Alpine region (Slovenia, Austria, Germany, Italy, Monaco, and France) is awarded.
The latest competition, Constructive Alps 2022, was particularly successful for Slovenia, with three Slovenian projects making it to the shortlist. Among the awarded projects was the renovation of the Šenk estate in Jezersko, while the nominated projects included the Na Rju Bridge and Hotel Bohinj.

It is a true example of a modern Alpine hotel that combines traditional elements with modern architectural approaches, such as large glass windows that highlight the natural beauty of the surroundings, guest terraces with panoramic views, and the use of local materials in interior design.
In the planning stages of the renovation, only the best materials were considered, chosen
based on the principle of long-term benefits, ensuring lower energy consumption, a long lifespan, and providing a pleasant stay. The rooms are furnished with carefully selected, environmentally friendly materials, predominantly larch wood, which gives the rooms a special ambiance. Hotel Bohinj embodies the lake and Alpine landscape after which the hotel is named, as well as the rich local tradition and history.
The Constructive Alps exhibition, showcasing the awarded and nominated buildings, opened on June 7 and is on display at the Cultural Center Stara Fužina in Bohinj until July 7 during the working hours of the adjacent TIC Stara Fužina. The exhibition takes place in the same year as the Triglav National Park and Slovenian Nature Conservation celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Alpine Park of Nature Protection and the Slovenian presidency of the Alpine Convention.

Vendar je slovenska alpska pokrajina izredno občutljivo okolje dragocene neokrnjene narave, ki ga določajo ekstremne vremenske in topografske razmere. Zato je tukaj jasno razvita tradicija ekološko trajnostne gradbene dediščine.
V devetdesetih letih prejšnjega stoletja je bil sprejet mednarodni sporazum, Konvencija o varstvu Alp, h kateri je pristopila tudi Slovenija. Osrednji namen te konvencije je zagotoviti celovito zaščito in trajnostni razvoj alpskega sveta ter hkrati zaščititi gospodarske in kulturne interese prebivalcev, ki tam živijo, vključno z ohranjanjem regionalnih identitet in kulturnih posebnosti, značilnih oblik naselij ter ohranjanjem in obnovo značilne gradbene dediščine.
Vsi posegi v gorskih območjih, še posebej arhitekturni, morajo biti dolgoročno premišljeni, oblikovno in materialno podrejeni alpski scenografiji ter upoštevati kulturni kontekst. Slovenska arhitektura v Alpah je impresivna in inovativna. S projektiranjem in izbiro sodobnih ter tradicionalnih materialov vzpostavlja
vzoren odnos s svojo okolico, hkrati pa vpliva na prihodnji razvoj arhitekture v celotni alpski regiji.
To je prepoznala tudi pobuda Constructive Alps – iniciativa Lihtenštajna in Švice, s katero se izvaja akcijski načrt za podnebje Alpske konvencije. Vsaki dve leti se podeljuje mednarodna nagrada za trajnostno gradnjo in obnovo v alpski regiji (Slovenija, Avstrija, Nemčija, Italija, Monako in Francija).
Zadnji natečaj, Constructive Alps 2022, je bil posebej uspešen za Slovenijo, saj so se v ožji izbor uvrstili trije slovenski projekti. Med nagrajenimi projekti je bila obnova posestva Šenk na Jezerskem, med nominiranimi projekti pa most Na Rju in Hotel Bohinj.
Hotel Bohinj je obdan z naravo, iz njega pa se odpira pogled na veličastno Bohinjsko jezero, ki je od hotela oddaljeno manj kot dvesto metrov ter na najvišji gorski vrh Julijskih Alp – Triglav. Je pravi primer sodobnega alpskega hotela, ki združuje tradicionalne elemente z modernimi arhitekturnimi pristopi, kot so velika steklena okna, ki poudarjajo pogled na okoliške naravne lepote, čudovit vrt s panoramskim razgledom in uporaba lokalnih materialov v notranjem oblikovanju.
Že pri načrtovanju obnove so imeli snovalci v mislih samo najboljše materiale, ki so bili izbrani po principu trajnosti, zagotavljajo manjšo porabo energije, imajo dolgo življenjsko dobo in omogočajo prijetno bivanje. Sobe so opremljene s skrbno izbranimi, okolju prijaznimi materiali, med katerimi prevladuje macesen, ki sobam daje poseben občutek v les obdane topline. Hotel Bohinj je utelešenje jezerske in alpske pokrajine, po kateri je hotel dobil ime ter spoj bogate lokalne tradicije in zgodovine.
Razstava Constructive Alps, na kateri so predstavljene nagrajene in nominirane zgradbe, je bila odprta 7. junija, ogledate pa si jo lahko v Kulturnem domu Stara Fužina v Bohinju do 7. julija 2024 v delovnem času sosednjega TIC-a Stara Fužina. Razstava prihaja v letu, ko Triglavski narodni park in Slovenski varuh narave praznujeta 100. obletnico ustanovitve Alpskega parka varstva narave in slovenskega predsedovanja Alpski konvenciji.
Arhitektura ne oblikuje samo prostora, ampak predvsem tudi zavest ljudi. Trajnostna arhitektura ima veliko obrazov, oblikuje identiteto kraja in ustvarja prostore, v katerih se ljudje dobro počutijo. Mnogi projekti poudarjajo pomen življenja v skupnosti in se osredotočajo na družbeno dimenzijo arhitekture. Since the earliest days of scientific research of Slovenian flora, the mountains above Bohinj have been considered a true treasure trove of alpine flowers. Visitors to Bohinj and its surroundings are treated to a visual feast thanks to the flower wealth in the area and the mountains rising above it. Fusing botanical knowledge, tradition, and artistic creation, the International Wildflower Festival in Bohinj was born.
Od najzgodnejših začetkov znanstvenega proučevanja slovenske flore se gore nad Bohinjem štejejo za pravo zakladnico alpskega cvetja. Cvetno bogastvo Bohinja in gora nad njim je praznik za oči vsakega, ki obišče Bohinj in njegovo okolico. Z združitvijo botaničnega znanja, tradicije in umetniškega ustvarjanja se je rodila ideja o Mednarodnem festivalu alpskega cvetja v Bohinju.
During the spring, Bohinj is painted with a thousand different species of flowers and plants. The International Wildflower Festival has been held in May and June for the past eighteen years, becoming an indispensable event for all nature and art lovers. During the festival days, a series of floral-themed cultural events take place at various locations in Bohinj, which includes 24 villages and covers over 300 km².
Under the guidance of local guides and botanical experts, you can discover the floral richness of Bohinj, its surroundings, and other botanically interesting areas of Slovenia, all while learning about Bohinj's history, the harmony between humans and nature, and enjoying the scenes created by wildflowers. You will experience Bohinj in a completely new way.
Experts discuss alpine plants’ significance, conservation, and importance. Workshops and presentations are also given on a variety of topics, including how wildflowers can beautify and enrich our lives. Flowers have long inspired artists, so in addition to workshops, you can also expect art exhibitions and musical evenings. For centuries, people have used flowers to express their feelings, improve their environment, and mark special occasions and rituals. Flowers are considered to be humanity’s greatest good and the most appropriate detail of nature, with immense significance in all aspects of social and spiritual emancipation of the human being. In addition to their social function, flowers also have a decorative-aesthetic function. Horticulture or garden architecture can undoubtedly be considered a form of applied art. Flowers and art are the most beautiful fields of human creativity, often meeting and interweaving to create some of the most beautiful works of art, full of symbolism and emotions.
From the second half of the twentieth century to today’s art scene, plants are depicted and themed in various media and in different styles. Flowers are used in all genres of art, including music, literature, painting, sculpture, ceramics, tapestry... Plants or flowers captivated nineteenth-century artists such as impressionists, Rousseau, Van Gogh, and many others, and even some of the most prominent representatives of twentieth-century historical avant-garde, such as Matisse, Picasso, Mondrian, or Klee, were unable to escape this motif.
Floral shapes and color combinations, on the other hand, create possibilities that artists with a brushes and palettes do not have. The warmest combination is orange and red, the coldest is blue and green or purple, and green is tranquil and acts as a catalyst. It is a lovely color tone that is most noticeable in meadows, where colors and shapes interact without constraints, thus creating living art. Slovenian mountains, meadows, and forests, one stands out – the carnation, the national flower of Slovenia. Red, yellow, white, purple, and even green – almost every color carries a unique and rich association. Carnations have rich symbolism and mythology, generally signifying love and fascination. Pomlad je čas, ko Bohinj pobarva tisoč različnih vrst cvetja in rastlin. Mednarodni festival alpskega cvetja poteka zadnjih osemnajst let v maju in juniju, postal pa je nepogrešljiv dogodek za vse, ki imajo radi naravo in umetnost. V festivalskih dneh se odvija vrsta kulturnih dogodkov, povezanih s cvetličnimi temami, na različnih lokacijah v Bohinju, ki zajema 24 vasi in se razprostira na površini več kot 300 km².
Pod vodstvom lokalnih vodnikov in botaničnih strokovnjakov lahko odkrijete cvetno bogastvo Bohinja, okolice in drugih botanično zanimivih območij Slovenije, ter se obenem veliko naučite o preteklosti Bohinja, harmoniji med človekom in naravo ter uživate v prizorih, ki jih ustvarja samoniklo cvetje. Doživeli boste Bohinj na povsem nov način.
Strokovnjaki govorijo o alpskih rastlinah, njihovem pomenu, ohranjanju in pomembnosti. Prav tako potekajo delavnice in predstavitve o mnogih področjih in načinih, kako nam lahko alpsko cvetje polepša in obogati življenje. Cvetje je od nekdaj navdihovalo umetnike, zato poleg delavnic potekajo tudi umetniške razstave in glasbeni večeri. Ljudje so stoletja uporabljali cvetje, da bi izrazili svoja čustva, izboljšali svoje okolje in zaznamovali pomembne dogodke in obrede. Za cvetje pravijo, da je največje dobro človeštva in da je najprimernejši detajl narave, ki ima izjemen pomen v vseh vidikih socialne in duhovne emancipacije človeškega bitja.
Poleg socialne funkcije ima cvetje tudi dekorativno oziroma estetsko funkcijo. Povsem zagotovo lahko rečemo, da je hortikultura ali vrtna arhitektura del uporabne umetnosti. Cvetje in umetnost sta najlepši področji človeške ustvarjalnosti, ki se pogosto srečujeta in prepletata ter tako ustvarjata nekatera najlepša umetniška dela, polna simbolike in čustev.
V umetnosti druge polovice dvajsetega stoletja in tudi v najnovejši umetnosti se rastline prikazujejo in tematizirajo v različnih medijih in na najrazličnejše načine. Vse oblike umetnosti prikazujejo uporabo cvetja: glasba, književnost, slikarstvo, kiparstvo, keramika, tapiserija ... Rastline oziroma cvetje so intrigirale umetnike devetnajstega stoletja – impresioniste, Rousseauja, van Gogha in še mnoge druge, temu motivu pa niso mogli ubežati niti nekateri najpomembnejši predstavniki preteklih stoletnih zgodovinskih avantgard, kot so Matisse, Picasso, Mondrian ali Klee.
Toda cvetlične oblike in barvne kombinacije ustvarjajo možnosti, ki imajo večjo moč kot umetniki s čopičem in paleto. Kombinacija oranžne in rdeče se šteje za najtoplejšo, kombinacija modre in zelene oziroma vijolične za najhladnejšo, zelena pa velja za pomirjujočo in je nekakšen katalizator. To je prijeten ton barve, ki je najbolj izrazit na travnikih, kjer se barve in oblike prepletajo brez pravil in tako ustvarjajo živo umetnost. Cvetje kot živi organizem sodeluje pri realizaciji prave umetnine.
Med množico cvetja, ki krasi slovenske gore, travnike in gozdove, se eden vseeno izpostavlja – nagelj, narodni cvet Slovenije. Rdeč, rumen, bel, vijoličen, celo zelen – skoraj vsaka barva nosi edinstveno in bogato asociacijo. Nageljni imajo bogato simboliko in mitologijo, na splošno pa izražajo ljubezen in fascinacijo. Have you ever wondered who stands behind the magnificent floral arrangements at the Hotel Bohinj? Although they seem like a permanent fixture in the hotel, that’s not the case. We collaborate with Ajda Rupnik, better known as Isabell, who creates unforgettable floral arrangements. Isabell regularly never ceases to amaze us with her trendy ideas, and this year, she has prepared a stunning Alpine bouquet exclusively for Hotel Bohinj.
Se kdaj sprašujete, kdo stoji za čudovitimi aranžmaji v Hotelu Bohinj? Čeprav se zdi, da so že stalni del hotela, temu ni tako. Sodelujemo z Ajdo Rupnik, bolj poznano kot Isabell, ki s svojimi kreacijami
nepozabne cvetlične dekoracije. Isabell nas redno navdušuje s svojimi trendovskimi idejami, letos pa je prav za Hotel Bohinj pripravila čudovit alpski šopek.
Ajda Rupnik - Isabell explains, “I adore beautiful things. Beautiful thoughts and desires, artistic works, nature, colors... Beauty is a matter of personal taste, so I can only speak for myself. In my opinion, beauty in floral decoration represents harmonious flower colors in luxurious arrangements, where the gaze glides smoothly through the story that flowers tell.”
Ajda has been involved in floral design since her early years. Her passion includes creating floral arrangements, ornamental gardens, business space and event decorations. Her vision is always to offer a different approach, practical advice, and excellent customer satisfaction.
Her story: Even in high school, she searched for ways to incorporate flowers into everyday spaces and events. She realized that flowers strongly influence the perception of space and bring life to every corner. These insights led her to start her own business, Umetnost cvetja (Art of Flowers), where she constantly seeks out new beautiful things.
Floral trends: According to Ajda, current trends favor freshness, bold and vibrant colors. Connections between flowers and fruits are becoming more common, but she warns that this isn’t always the best combination since fruits release gases that shorten the lifespan of cut flowers. Therefore, she advises keeping flowers and fruits strictly separate at home or in workspaces. Approach to decoration: Ajda has an exceptional sense of space and quickly finds floral design ideas, whether it’s a restaurant, office, retail, or hotel. The season strongly influences the choice of flowers, color, and size of arrangements.
Ajda Rupnik – Isabell pravi: »Obožujem lepe stvari. Lepe misli in želje, umetniška dela, naravo, barve ... Lepota je stvar okusa vsakega posameznika in povem lahko le zase. Zame lepoto v cvetlični dekoraciji predstavljajo harmonične barve cvetja v razkošnih aranžmajih, kjer pogled gladko drsi skozi zgodbo, ki jo cvetje pripoveduje.«
Ajda se s cvetličnim oblikovanjem ukvarja že od mladih nog. Njena strast vključuje oblikovanje cvetličnih aranžmajev, okrasnih vrtov, dekoracij prostorov in dogodkov. Njena vizija je vedno ponuditi drugačen pristop, uporabno svetovanje in doseči vrhunsko zadovoljstvo strank.
Že v srednji šoli je iskala načine, kako cvetje vključiti v vsakodnevne prostore in dogodke. Ugotovila je, da cvetje močno vpliva na zaznavanje prostora in prinaša življenje v vsak kotiček. Ta spoznanja so jo vodila do odprtja lastnega prostora Umetnost cvetja, kjer nenehno išče nove, lepe stvari.
Na področju trendov v cvetličarstvu Ajda pravi, da trenutno trendi narekujejo svežino, močne in pisane barve. Povezave med cvetjem in sadjem so vse pogostejše, vendar opozarja, da to ni vedno najboljša kombinacija, saj sadje sprošča plin, ki skrajšuje življenjsko dobo rezanega cvetja. Zato svetuje, da cvetje in sadje doma ali v poslovnih prostorih vedno hranite ločeno.
Pristop k dekoriranju: Ajda ima izjemen občutek za prostor in hitro najde ideje za cvetlično dekoracijo, ne glede na to, ali gre za gostinski lokal, pisarno, trgovino ali hotel. Letni čas močno vpliva na izbiro cvetja, barvo in velikost aranžmajev.
Spring-summer decoration at Hotel Bohinj: This spring, she created lasting decorations at Hotel Bohinj with interesting plantings of indoor plants. A living green wall by the fireplace adds privacy for guests during dinner, while dried flower arrangements connect the reception’s high ceiling to the decorations on the reception desk and tables. Outdoor plantings, mimicking forest floors, were handmade specifically for Hotel Bohinj.
Collaborating with Hotel Bohinj is always a new challenge for Isabell allowing her to push the boundaries of her knowledge.
Together with her team, they create floral arrangements that enchant every visitor while showcasing the art of floristry to the broader public.
Pomladno-poletna dekoracija v Hotelu Bohinj: letos spomladi je v Hotelu Bohinj ustvarila trajnejšo dekoracijo z zanimivimi zasaditvami sobnih rastlin. Živa zelena stena ob kaminu dodaja zasebnost gostom pri večerji, suhi cvetlični aranžmaji pa povezujejo visok strop recepcije z dekoracijo na recepcijskem pultu in mizah. Zunanje nasade, ki predstavljajo gozdna tla, so ročno izdelali posebej za Hotel Bohinj.
Sodelovanje s Hotelom Bohinj je za Isabell vedno novi izziv, kjer lahko preizkuša in presega meje svojega znanja. Skupaj s svojo ekipo ustvarja cvetlične dekoracije, ki očarajo vsakega obiskovalca in predstavljajo Umetnost cvetja širši javnosti.

As we are deeply rooted in the Alpine world, we are expected to create something truly authentic. Ajda designed a special Alpine bouquet with this purpose in mind. To start with, Domen shared a piece of wisdom that helped him at the beginning of his professional journey. When he was younger, they used to say that everyone should study so that they wouldn't have to work, which is why most of the kids rushed to gymnasiums rather than vocational schools. However, he preferred to dedicate himself to the hospitality industry. Today, in his thirties, he sincerely admits that he has traveled a long and interesting path to reach where he is now.
As a former passionate basketball player, he left basketball at the age of nineteen and moved to London to pursue his dreams of becoming a chef. He is aware that determination and dedication to his work are crucial for the quality and innovation of culinary experiences at Hotel Bohinj. His story proves the importance of following your dreams and passions, despite any challenges that may arise.
You studied in London at the renowned Le Cordon Bleu school. Can you tell us a little bit more about your experience in London? Was it challenging?
I am lucky to come from a family that always supported and believed in me. I wanted to justify their trust because they had made a significant financial investment in me. Because of this, I didn't have the heart to ask them for more, thus my first few months in London were quite eventful. I literally slept under the table to survive on my monthly pay of 1400 GBP. For context, in London, you need about 4000 GBP in total for the deposit and other initial accommodation costs. In the end, I earned this by endless studying, vegetable peeling, and other auxiliary tasks.
But I didn't give up. You have to start somewhere, and experiences don't come by themselves. With studying at Le Cordon Bleu and working hard, better opportunities soon came. Immediately after completing my studies, I was offered an internship through the school. However, as I also had received direct opportunities that were much better, I chose the latter. So, in the end, I worked in the best restaurants in London, including The Ivy, where I had the opportunity to cook for the Queen herself. But the path to getting there was long and thorny.
After so much effort and learning, why did you still return to your native Slovenia? Wasn't it challenging to stay abroad?
I went to London for education and experience. I moved there with the intention to return home. Looking back, I'm convinced that I wouldn't have endured all those long four years without the support of my parents, who gave me the opportunity to grow into the person I am today.
I dedicated the most of the time there to achieving this goal, even my free time. Although I met many people whom I still keep in touch with today, I never felt truly at home in London. If I think about it, it would probably be different if it had all happened in Spain. There, I somehow feel more at home – because of the warmth of the place, all of the basketball experiences, and everything we went through with colleagues who remained in this sport and became very good, world-famous basketball players.
In Spain, I always felt a special connection with the environment and the people who enabled me to grow both personally and professionally. Bas-
Za začetek nam je zaupal modrost, ki ga je spremljala na začetku poklicne poti. Včasih so rekli, uči se, pa ti ne bo treba delati, zato so vsi hiteli na gimnazije, stran od poklicnega šolanja. Domen se je raje zapisal gostinstvu. Danes, pri 30-ih letih, iskreno pove, da je prehodil dolgo in zanimivo pot, da je prišel na mesto, kjer je zdaj.
Kot nekdanji strastni košarkaš je pri komaj devetnajstih letih postavil košarkarsko žogo v kot in se podal s trebuhom za kruhom v London, da bi sledil svojim sanjam in postal kuharski mojster.
Zaveda se, da sta odločenost in predanost delu ključni za kakovost in inovativnost kulinaričnih izkušenj v Hotelu Bohinj. Njegova zgodba pa dokazuje, kako pomembno je slediti svojim sanjam in strastem, ne glede na izzive, ki jih prinaša pot.
Šolali ste se v Londonu na znani šoli Le Cordon Bleu. Povejte nam nekaj več o svojem londonskem doživetju. Je bilo zahtevno?
Imel sem srečo, da prihajam iz družine, ki me je vedno z veseljem podpirala in verjela vame. Želel sem upravičiti njihovo zaupanje, saj so vame vložili veliko finančnih sredstev. Ker nisem imel srca, da bi jih prosil za še več, so bili moji prvi meseci v Londonu precej pestri. Dobesedno sem spal pod mizo, da sem lahko preživel s 1400 funti na mesec, kolikor je takrat znašala moja plača. Za občutek – v Londonu za depozit in ostale namestitvene stroške na začetku potrebuješ skupaj približno 4000 funtov. To sem si prislužil z neskončnim prebiranjem, lupljenjem zelenjave in drugimi pomožnimi deli.
Ampak nisem obupal. Nekje je treba začeti, izkušnje pa ne pridejo same od sebe. S šolanjem na Le Cordon Bleu in trdim delom so kmalu prišle boljše priložnosti. Takoj po zaključku študija so mi ponudili možnost pripravništva s pomočjo šole. Ker pa sem prejel tudi neposredne in precej boljše priložnosti, sem se odločil za slednje. Tako sem na koncu delal v najboljših restavracijah v Londonu, med drugim v The Ivy, kjer sem imel priložnost kuhati za samo kraljico. Vendar je bila pot do tja dolga in trnova.
Po toliko truda in učenja, zakaj ste se vendarle vrnili v rodno Slovenijo? Ali vam ni predstavljalo izziva, da ostanete v tujini?
V London sem prišel po znanje in izkušnje. Prišel sem že z namenom, da se vrnem nazaj domov. Ko gledam nazaj, sem prepričan, da vseh teh dolgih štirih let ne bi zdržal, če ne bi imel podpore svojih staršev, ki so mi to izkušnjo omogočili ter podpirali z vizijo, da postanem to, kar sem danes.
Večino časa, ki sem ga preživel tam, sem posvetil temu cilju, tudi v svojem prostem času. Čeprav sem spoznal veliko ljudi, s katerimi ostajam v stiku še danes, se v Londonu nikoli nisem zares počutil domače. Če malo razmislim, bi bilo verjetno drugače, če bi se vse skupaj dogajalo v Španiji. Tam se nekako bolj počutim domače – zaradi topline mesta, vseh košarkarskih izkušenj in vsega, kar smo preživeli skupaj s kolegi, ki so ostali v tem športu in postali zelo dobri, svetovno znani košarkaši.
V Španiji sem vedno čutil posebno povezanost z okoljem in ljudmi, ki so mi omogočili, da rastem tako osebno kot profesionalno. Košarka je bila velik del mojega življenja, in spomini na igro, treninge in tekme s prijatelji so mi vedno prinašali občutek domačnosti in pripadnosti. Tudi ko sem se
ketball was a big part of my life, and the memories of playing, training, and competing with friends always gave me a sense of home and belonging. Even after deciding to pursue a career in culinary arts, I retained my passion for basketball and the bonds I built over the years.
I gained valuable experiences in London, but my heart always pulled me back to "warmer" places, where I felt more at home and connected with people and culture. That's one of the main reasons I decided to return home after all those years and continue my career in Slovenia.
You also cooked for Luka Dončić. Did your friendship start through basketball?
Luka and I have known each other since we were kids. He is a truly an excellent basketball player, but above all else, he is an incredible person who, even though I don't see him as much, is always close to me. He knew about my culinary journey through London, including all the challenges and successes I experienced along the way. I am grateful that he recognized the culinary potential in me and offered me the opportunity to present myself in this way as well.
But, if I may boast a little, if it was good enough for the Queen, I believe it's good enough for him as well. After all, I will always do my best to create culinary delights for everyone, regardless of who they are, since this is a career in which I've happily found my place.
I always strive to create moments that are unforgettable, and food is what connects people and brings them joy. My passion for cooking rivals my childhood passion for basketball. Every plate I place in front of a guest is a result of love for what I do and my dedication to creating the best possible taste.
Where do you draw your inspiration when creating the menu for Hotel Bohinj? What guides you?
We draw inspiration for the menu at Hotel Bohinj from various sources, but the most important one is the kitchen team. I believe that creating a menu is a team effort, with each member contributing a piece of themselves. Only in this way can we create dishes that are more than just food – they are an experience that we share with our guests.
Our main focus is seasonality. We prioritize seasonal ingredients to showcase the richness of the local culinary culture. Each dish on our menu is carefully designed to offer guests an authentic taste of the destination they visit. After all, they don't say "love goes through the stomach" for no apparent reason.
We proudly use local ingredients that reflect the uniqueness of Bohinj. Not only do we support local producers, but we give our guests the opportunity to taste truly authentic dishes. Through culinary flavors, they can immerse themselves entirely in the destination.

V Londonu sem pridobil dragocene izkušnje, a srce me je vedno vleklo nazaj v »toplejše« kraje, kjer sem se počutil bolj domače in povezan z ljudmi ter kulturo. To je bil eden izmed glavnih razlogov, zakaj sem se odločil, da se po določenem času vrnem domov in svojo kariero nadaljujem v Sloveniji.
Kuhali ste tudi za Luko Dončića. Ali se je vaše prijateljstvo začelo preko košarke?
Z Luko se poznava že od malih nog. Je res odličen košarkaš, predvsem pa neverjeten človek, ki mi je tekom mladostniških let postal nekdo, ki ga sicer redko vidim, vendar mi vedno ostaja blizu. Vedel je za moje kulinarično popotovanje po Londonu, za vse izzive in uspehe, ki sem jih doživel na tej poti. Hvaležen sem, da je on sam v meni prepoznal kulinarični potencial in mi dal priložnost, da se mu predstavim tudi po tej plati.
Če se malo pohvalim, lahko rečem: če je bilo dobro za kraljico, verjamem, da je dobro tudi zanj. Na koncu koncev pa se bom vedno potrudil za vse. Ustvarjanje kulinaričnih dobrot je namenjeno vsem, saj je to res poklic, kjer sem se našel in ga z veseljem opravljam.

Navdih za meni v Hotelu Bohinj črpamo iz več virov, a najpomembnejši je ekipa v kuhinji. Verjamem, da je ustvarjanje menija timsko delo, kjer vsak član doprinese delček sebe. Le tako lahko ustvarimo jedi, ki so več kot le hrana – so izkušnja, ki jo delimo z našimi gosti.
Naš glavni fokus je sezonskost. V ospredje postavljamo sezonske sestavine, saj želimo predstaviti bogastvo lokalne kulinarične kulture. Vsaka jed na našem meniju je skrbno zasnovana tako, da gostom ponudi pristen okus destinacije, ki jo obiščejo. Konec koncev, ne pravijo zastonj, da gre ljubezen skozi želodec.

Over the years, I have gained numerous unique experiences that have allowed me to establish myself in the culinary world. One of my first major undertakings after returning to Slovenia was cooking for small groups and companies in the comfort of their homes. This was a very big step for me, as I stepped into shoes that were still slightly too big for me at the time. However, after years of hard work, invested effort, energy, financial resources, and marketing, I finally managed to fill them.
Last year, I opened my POP-UP at Vila Adora in Bled, where I have the opportunity to show my creativity and passion for cooking in a completely unique way. Vila Adora offers a boutique experiencewhere every detail matters, and having free rein in creating dishes is a real privilege.
Through culinary creation for small groups, I can experiment with new ideas, ingredients, and create culinary delights that are enjoyed by the guests every day. Every plate is an opportunity for expression and creating something special, something that will stick in their minds even after they have already left.
Which food is your favorite? Whose cuisine?
On my culinary journey, I've discovered that my essence lies in creating simple dishes that, despite their simplicity, achieve a high level of quality, both in terms of flavors and ingredient selection. Italian cuisine is based on this philosophy as well. Therefore, after leaving The Ivy, my next step was working at Cecconi's, the strongest hospitality chain in the world, and Soho House, where this type of food preparation is at the forefront and is most in line with my personal preferences.
Moreover, I've always been inclined towards warm, homely destinations. Italy, one of our neighboring countries and one of my favorites, offers that warmth and hospitality that has always attracted me. Nothing beats good pasta, tasty risotto, or osso buco. I'm also very fond of excellent seafood stews. With these dishes, you can never go wrong, and every time I prepare or eat them, I am reminded of those beautiful moments in Italy spent with good food and company.
Do you prepare desserts with the same enthusiasm as main courses and appetizers?
During my training at Le Cordon Bleu and afterward, the focus was primarily on main courses and desserts. However, I focused on preparing cold appetizers and main courses and neglected the area of desserts, which I regret to this day. Nevertheless, I am very grateful that we have an exceptional pastry team at Hotel Bohinj, who truly impresses with their creativity and expertise. Tekom preteklih let sem nabral številne edinstvene izkušnje, ki so mi omogočile dokazovanje na kulinaričnem parketu. Eden izmed večjih prvih projektov po vrnitvi v Slovenijo je bilo kuhanje za zaključene skupine in družbe v objemu lastnega doma. To je bil zame zelo velik korak, saj sem stopil v čevlje, ki so mi takrat še nekoliko preveliki. Po letih trdega dela, vloženega truda, energije, finančnih sredstev in promocije pa sem jih končno uspel zapolniti.
V lanskem letu sem namreč odprl svojo »POP-UP« kuhinjo v Vili Adora na Bledu, kjer imam priložnost izražati svojo kreativnost in strast do kuhanja na povsem edinstven način. Vila Adora predstavlja butično doživetje, kjer vsak detajl šteje, in imeti proste roke pri ustvarjanju jedi je pravi privilegij.
Preko kulinaričnega ustvarjanja za zaključene skupine lahko vsak dan preizkušam nove ideje, eksperimentiram s sestavinami in ustvarjam kulinarične presežke, ki navdušujejo naše goste. Vsak krožnik je priložnost za izražanje in ustvarjanje nečesa posebnega, nekaj, kar bo ostalo v spominu izbranih gostov.
Katero hrano najraje jeste? Čigavo kuhinjo obožujete?
Na svoji kulinarični poti sem spoznal, da je moje bistvo ustvarjanje preprostih krožnikov, ki kljub svoji preprostosti dosegajo visoko raven kakovosti, tako z vidika okusov kot tudi izbire sestavin. Prav na tem principu temeljijo tudi italijanske jedi. Zato je bil moj naslednji korak, po odhodu iz The Ivy, delo v Cecconi's, najmočnejši gostinski verigi na svetu, Soho House, kjer je tovrstna priprava jedi v ospredju in meni osebno najbližja. Poleg tega sem po duši že od nekdaj nagnjen k toplim, domačim destinacijam. Italija, ena izmed naših sosednjih držav in ena meni najljubših, ponuja tisto toplino in gostoljubnost, ki me vedno pritegne. Nič ne more prekositi dobre pašte, okusne rižote ali osso buca. Prav tako mi je zelo pri srcu odlična morska obara. S temi jedmi ne morem nikoli zgrešiti in vsakič, ko jih pripravljam ali jem, me spomnijo na tiste lepe trenutke v Italiji, ki jih preživim ob dobri hrani in v dobri družbi.
Ali pripravljate sladice z enakim navdušenjem kot glavne jedi in predjedi?
V sklopu šolanja na Le Cordon Bleu in tudi kasneje so bile v ospredju predvsem glavne jedi in sladice. Sam pa sem se osredotočil na pripravo hladnih predjedi in glavnih jedi ter zanemaril področje sladic, kar mi je še danes žal. Kljub temu sem zelo hvaležen, da imamo v Hotelu Bohinj izjemno slaščičarsko ekipo, ki s svojo ustvarjalnostjo in strokovnostjo resnično navdušuje. Risotto
50 g risotto rice
10 g shallots
0.2 dl white wine
20 g fresh green asparagus
8 g quark (we use it from local farm Pr' Tonejovc)
10 g butter (we use it from local farm Pr' Tonejovc)
5 g of hard cheese (we use local, Bohinj one)
1 tablespoon sunflower oil
Salt, pepper to taste

50 g rissoto riža
10 g šalotke
0,2 dcl belega vina
20 g svežih zelenih špargljev
8 g domače skute (pri nas uporabljamo Tonejčevo skuto)

5 g trdega sira (pri nas uporabljamo Bohinjski planšarski sir)
1 žlica sončničnega olja
Sol, poper po občutku
Divje rastline – za dekoracijo
Puree
20 g fresh green asparagus
5 g fresh wild garlic
10 g homemade butter (we use it from local farm Pr' Tonejovc)
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
Base
• 100 g asparagus
• 1 white onion
• 0.5 leek
• 0.5 l water
INSTRUCTIONS
Rice Preparation
• Peel and finely cut the shallots. In a large pan, heat a tablespoon of sunflower oil.
• Once the shallots are golden, add the rice and sauté for about half a minute.
• Add white wine and wait for the rice to absorb all the liquid.
• Cook the previously prepared base - cook all the above-mentioned vegetables in half a liter of water for about half an hour.
• Gradually add the base to the rice, one ladle at a time, until the rice is "al dente" or cooked to the tooth.
• Remove the rice from the heat and let it rest for 20 minutes.
Puree Preparation
• Blanch the asparagus and wild garlic in boiling water, meaning cook them for a short time at a very high temperature (about 2 minutes) and then quickly cool them in ice water (to cool them down).
• Then blend the asparagus, wild garlic, butter, and olive oil to obtain a smooth puree.
Conclusion
• Add half a ladle of base and puree to the previously prepared rice. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes until the rice has a cohesive structure.
• Remove the risotto from the heat and vigorously stir in the butter and cheese until the ingredients are nicely combined.
Serving
• Place the risotto on a plate and decorate it with homemade cottage cheese and wild plants.

Osnova
• 100 g špargljev
• 1 bela čebula
• 0,5 pora
• 0,5 l vode
POSTOPEK
Priprava riža
• Šalotko olupimo in nasekljamo na majhne koščke. V večjo ponev dodamo žlico sončničnega olja in segrejemo.
• Ko šalotka pozlati, ji dodamo riž in ga pražimo približno pol minute.
• Dodamo belo vino in počakamo, da riž vpije vso tekočino.
• Prej pripravljeno osnovo – vso zgoraj navedeno zelenjavo kuhamo v pol litra vode približno pol ure.
• Osnovo z zajemalko postopoma dodajamo v riž, dokler ni riž pripravljen »al dente« oziroma kuhan na zob.
• Riž odstavimo in pustimo počivati 20 minut.
Priprava pireja
• V večji posodi z vrelo vodo blanširamo šparglje in čemaž, kar pomeni, da ju kuhamo kratek čas na zelo visoki temperaturi (približno 2 minuti) in nato hitro ohladimo v ledeni vodi (da se shladita).
• Nato z mešalnikom zmešamo šparglje, čemaž, maslo in oljčno olje, da dobimo gladek pire.
Zaključek
• V prej pripravljen riž dodamo pol zajemalke osnove in pire. Kuhamo od 3 do 5 minut, da dobimo povezano strukturo riža.
• Rižoto odstavimo z ognja in na trdo umešamo maslo in sir, da se sestavine lepo povežejo v celoto.

Last year, Hotel Bohinj revived the Bohinj cake, which boasts the Bohinj/ From Bohinj trademark certificate. The secrets for preparing Bohinj cake were entrusted to pastry master Katarina Hribar, who reveals: "With effort and dedication, we adjusted the recipe to achieve the perfect harmony of flavors. Initially, the cake was too sweet, so we had to alter the sweetness. The main ingredients, almonds and chocolate, were enriched with walnuts, while the layers of sponge cake were coated with buttery chocolate cream. A chocolate glaze serves as the finishing touch. The cake is a real delight, but due to its rich buttery flavor, we recommend serving it chilled to enhance the flavors even more."
In researching the history of Bohinj cake and its rediscovery, the team at Hotel Bohinj was assisted by Slovenian ethnologist, professor, and publicist Janez Bogataj. He explained that it's more than just a simple history of a dish - it's an interpretation of culinary heritage. The story of Bohinj cake dates back to the second half of the 19th century in Vienna, when the Austro-Hungarian Empire began to assign local characteristics to certain dishes. It was during this time that Bohinj cake was born, which Bogataj discovered in a dusty manuscript he received from one of his students. The original recipe was created at the turn of the century in Ljubljana, passed down from family to family before finally landing in his hands.
Enjoying Bohinj cake will take you on a sensory journey through different flavors and textures. It is made out of a moist almonds and walnuts sponge that is glazed with luxurious chocolate cream.

Skrivnosti priprave bohinjske torte nam je zaupala slaščičarska mojstrica Katarina Hribar, ki pravi: »S trudom in predanostjo smo prilagajali recepturo, da bi dosegli popolno harmonijo okusov. • 40 ml Cherriot gin
• Ice
• 30 ml of freshly squeezed lemon juice
• 20 ml elderflower/melissa syrup
• 150 ml of Fentimans Rose Lemonade soft drink
• Fresh raspberries or a slice of lemon for garnish
Instructions:
• Fill a glass with ice.
• Pour in the gin, lemon juice, and syrup, then stir gently to dissolve the syrup.
• Slowly add the soft drink and stir once more with a bar spoon.
• Garnish with a slice of lemon or a fresh raspberry.

Sestavine:

The consequences of accumulated stress has a bad impact on our overall health. The ancient Greeks and Romans prepared fragrant baths, believing it was the best way to relax. Over centuries, cultures, beliefs, and customs have changed, but relaxation in baths with various massages, soothing music, and healing oils and herbs has remained a universal human experience. In the last twenty years, the wellness industry has grown significantly and has become a global trend.
Wellness encompasses a wide range of services and products that contribute to a better quality of life and a sense of well-being. We can live wellness even if we have never visited a wellness or spa center, but we must know how to focus on ourselves to live a healthy and joyful life. However, there are also people, techniques, and exercises that can help us. Wellness specialists enable consumers to adopt healthy habits in everyday life.
Wellness should be understood as a holistic approach to health (physical and mental) and lifestyle (spiritual, emotional, social). It encourages people to develop healthy lifestyles that include exercise, healthy and proper nutrition, psycho-physical relaxation, skin care, as well as learning skills for managing stress and emotions, relationships. Many wellness experts and healthcare professionals warn that depression will be the greatest health risk to humanity, surpassing obesity, as we live in an era of stress, environmental pollution, uncertainty, anxiety, and loneliness.
Vsodobnem hitrem tempu življenja pogosto pozabimo prevzeti odgovornost za lastno zdravje, odločitve, misli, dejanja, potrebe in želje. Izjemno pomembno je, da se osredotočimo na samega sebe, razumemo in po potrebi spremenimo lastne navade, da postanemo osveščeni o tem, kaj nas dela dobro ali slabo ter premislimo, kaj lahko storimo zase. Odgovore na ta vprašanja lahko najdemo v velnesu.
Posledice nakopičenega stresa negativno vplivajo na naše celotno zdravje. Že stari Grki in Rimljani so pripravljali dišeče kopeli, saj so verjeli, da je to najboljši način za sprostitev. Skozi stoletja so se menjavale kulture, prepričanja in običaji, vendar je sprostitev v kopelih z različnimi masažami, prijetno glasbo ter zdravilnimi olji in zelišči ostala skupna vsem civilizacijam. V zadnjih dvajsetih letih je velneška industrija začela masovno rasti in postala globalni trend.
Velnes obsega široko paleto storitev in izdelkov, ki prispevajo k višji kakovosti življenja in občutku dobrega počutja. Velnes lahko živimo, tudi če nikoli nismo obiskali nobenega »wellness« ali »spa« centra, vendar moramo vedeti, kako se ustrezno osredotočiti nase in živeti zdravo ter radostno življenje. Ob tem pa obstajajo tudi ljudje, tehnike in vaje, ki nam lahko pomagajo. Strokovnjaki za velnes omogočajo potrošnikom sprejemanje zdravih navad v vsakdanjem življenju.
Velnes bi morali razumeti kot holistični pristop k zdravju (fizičnemu in duševnemu) in načinu življenja (duhovnemu, čustvenemu, socialnemu). Spodbuja ljudi k zdravemu življenjskemu slogu: gibanje, zdrava in pravilna prehrana, psiho-fizična sprostitev, nega kože, pa tudi učenje veščin za obvladovanje stresa in čustev ter odnosov. Številni strokovnjaki in zdravstveni delavci opozarjajo, da bo depresija največje zdravstveno tveganje za človeštvo, večje od debelosti, saj živimo v dobi stresa, onesnaženja okolja, negotovosti, tesnobe in osamljenosti.
Therefore, many wellness experts recommend mindfulness. Mindfulness is a mental state attained by focusing consciousness on the present moment while recognizing and accepting one's own emotions, thoughts, and body sensations. What we think every day, how we breathe, and how we perceive life at every moment shape our lives. The practice of mindfulness has several benefits, including improved health and slowed down brain aging, reduced anxiety and depression, and increased overall well-being. If we are internally fullfilled, we create optimal conditions for health. If we are not healthy, we must ask ourselves what we are doing incorrectly, what is not in line with our true self. It is not without reason that we say, "a healthy mind in a healthy body."
Zato mnogi strokovnjaki za velnes priporočajo čuječnost (angl. »mindfulness«). Čuječnost je duševno stanje, ki ga dosežemo s osredotočanjem zavesti na trenutek, s pomirjenim prepoznavanjem in sprejemanjem lastnih občutkov, misli in telesnih občutkov. Naše misli, način dihanja in dojemanja življenja v vsakem trenutku oblikujejo naše življenje. Praksa čuječnosti ima več prednosti, med drugim izboljšuje zdravje in upočasnjuje staranje možganov, zmanjšuje tesnobo in depresijo ter izboljšuje splošno počutje. Če smo notranje zadovoljni, ustvarjamo idealne pogoje za zdravje. Če nismo zdravi, se moramo vprašati, kaj delamo narobe, kaj ni v skladu z našim notranjim jazom. Ne pravimo brez razloga »zdrav duh v zdravem telesu«.
It has been scientifically proved that just three minutes of mindfulness exercises daily reduce cortisol levels and improve productivity. Mindfulness is not tied to any religion or spiritual belief; it is a global practice that anyone can use to improve their mental and physical health and personal development. Focus exercises are simple exercises that can be used every day.
Take control of your thoughts rather than letting them control you. Health is not something we should only pay attention to when it sends us the first warnings through fatigue or illness; now is the time to learn how to change the priority list.

NATURE WALK
More and more people are gravitating to the "back to nature" movement as our everyday lives are hectic and stressful. At the end of the day, we all want to relax in a way that is natural and genuine as possible. Socializing in nature strengthens the body, especially the spirit. Why wouldn't we all take a short walk through the nearby forest? And Bohinj offers a lot of them.
MEDITATION
We don't need a guru to offer us instructions and guides us through meditation. Meditation can be practiced by everyone in the evening in bed before falling asleep. It is important to completely calm down and have no external distractions. Pure and positive thoughts and a couple of relaxed deep breaths, and the world is immediately more beautiful.
STRETCHING EXERCISES
Key to a healthy body is also physical activity; in this case, I would highlight basic stretching exercises that everyone can accomplish. Circling the arms, head, various trunks, a couple of lunges, and some forward bends - with these daily exercises, we contribute to our body while relaxing.
EXERCISE
Certain exercises to strengthen the whole body and encompass all muscle groups can be done in the gym or even by yourself at home and at work. Some ideas if you do them alone: do 20 squats, 40 sit-ups, and hold the core stabilization plank for 1 minute every day, and the psycho-physical results will be visible soon.
Znanstveno je dokazano, da že tri minute vaj za čuječnost dnevno zmanjšajo raven kortizola in izboljšajo produktivnost. Čuječnost ni povezana s katero koli religijo ali duhovnim prepričanjem; gre za svetovno prakso, ki jo lahko vsakdo uporabi za izboljšanje svojega duševnega in telesnega zdravja ter osebnega razvoja. Vaje za osredotočenost so preproste vaje, ki jih lahko uporabljate vsak dan.

SPREHOD V NARAVI
Veliko več ljudi se nagiba k težnji »nazaj k naravi«, saj je naš vsakdan tako natrpan in stresen, da si na koncu dneva vsi želimo čim bolj naravno in pristno sproščanje. Druženje v naravi predstavlja krepitev za telo, sploh pa za duha. Zakaj pa si ne bi vsak izmed nas namenil kratek sprehod po bližnjem gozdu? V Bohinju jih ne primanjkuje.
MEDITACIJA
Za izvajanje meditacije ne potrebujemo mojstra, ki nam daje navodila in usmerja. Meditacijo praktično lahko vsak sam izvaja zvečer v postelji, preden zaspi. Pomembno je, da se popolnoma umiri in nima nikakršnih zunanjih motenj. Čiste in pozitivne misli ter nekaj sproščenih globokih vdihov in izdihov, pa je svet takoj lepši.
RAZTEZNE VAJE
Ključ do zdravega telesa je tudi telesna dejavnost, v tem primeru bi izpostavila osnovne raztezne vaje, ki jih lahko naredi prav vsak. Kroženje rok, glave, odkloni trupa, nekaj izpadnih korakov in predklon – s temi vsakodnevnimi vajami krepimo telo in se ob tem tudi sprostimo.
TELOVADBA
Določene vaje za krepitev celotnega telesa oziroma za vse mišične skupine lahko izvajamo v fitnesu ali sami doma in na delovnem mestu. Nekaj idej, če jih boste delali sami: vsak dan naredite 20 počepov, 40 trebušnjakov in 1 minuto držite raven trup v ležečem položaju za stabilizacijo trebuha. Tako bodo vplivi na psiho-fizično stanje kmalu vidni.

The „Klarinetkanje“ music festival has been held in Bohinj for four consecutive years. The main goal and desire of the festival‘s founders involves collaborating on music, bringing together internationally renowned Slovenian clarinetists, and the acquisition and transmission of knowledge to the younger generation.
The founders of the „Klarinetkanje“ festival, aim to bring non-commercial music to Bohinj, from Slovenian folk music to the treasures of world chamber music literature, which will enrich and preserve the essence of music: changing the world for the better, just like Triglav National Park. Definitely an event not to be missed.

»Klarinetkanje« je glasbeni festival, ki se že četrto leto zapored odvija v Bohinju. Glavni cilj in želja ustanoviteljev festivala je predvsem skupno ustvarjanje glasbe, srečanje mednarodno uveljavljenih slovenskih klarinetistov ter pridobivanje ter prenašanje znanja na mlajšo generacijo.
S koncerti, ki so del festivala »Klarinetkanje«, si ustanovitelji festivala želijo v Bohinj pripeljati nekomercialno glasbo, od slovenske ljudske glasbe do dragocenosti svetovne komorne glasbene literature, ki obogati in, podobno kot Triglavski narodni park, varuje bistvo glasbe: spreminjanje sveta na bolje. Vsekakor dogodek, ki ga ne gre zamuditi.

The Cows‘ Ball is an authentic Bohinj festival that shouldn‘t be missed.
Kravji bal, najstarejša prireditev v Bohinju, združuje domačine, planšarje in obiskovalce ob koncu turistične in pašne sezone. Sodelujoči planšarji pripeljejo okrašene trope živine z višje ležečih planin, obiskovalce pa čaka bogat program s folklorno glasbo in domačo kulinariko.
