Welcome to all our members, current and new, to the 202425 bowling season. We again have a busy time ahead, being the main host club for the early October NZ Masters and the World CoC Men’s and Women’s Singles in late November. We are also likely to secure a number of days for the National Men’s and Women’s Singles and Pairs in early January. Add onto this a number of months of a very busy corporate season, the extended Business House Bowls competition, club champs and North Harbour events, and the season is looking pretty full already.
Our recently completed refurbishment of our club house is looking just wonderful and is to be enjoyed by all members, our local community and visiting players.
On behalf of the Browns Bay Bowling Club, wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable season. Take care and keep an eye on your bowling friends.
Pete Sheehan, President

The Browns Bay Bowling Club is proud to support the Auckland Blind Lawn Bowler’s Association. The benefits of visually impaired bowlers being involved with Browns Bay and participating in our activities are twofold: For the players,
directors and supporters, it fosters friendship, camaraderie and the opportunity to achieve in both sporting and social events; and for the club as a whole, it provides a real source of inspiration and a rare diversity of membership that few other clubs can boast.
Members who are interested in being involved as a director for a vision impaired bowler or in any other capacity, please contact Ian Glogoski – 021 670 574
The club is very welcoming of any person who would like to play bowls. We have a few disabled bowlers who are members of the club. We are proud they have chosen our club. We also have a relationship with the NZDLBA New Zealand Disabled Lawn Bowls Association (also known as Para Bowls) and will assist these players wherever we can. Ian Glogoski is the responsible Board contact
Before practising on any of the club’s grass greens during the summer, please check which greens are open. There is a blackboard outside the locker room at the south end of the clubrooms. The board will show which greens are in play and what direction to play. Only greens listed are to be used. All the grass greens are closed over the winter for renovation.
• All days are open to both men and women.
• Organised Roll Up days are held on a Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.
• Usually, 2 games of approx 1 hour 10 min, with a 15-minute tea break after the first game (at the discretion of the controller on the day)
• Summer season – club colours or whites; Winter season is mufti.
• In Summer (from Opening Day to Closing Day) names must be in by 12.45pm
• In Winter names must be in by 12.30pm
• The club programme has been designed that whenever possible, one natural green is available through the summer for Roll-Up play. However, there may be occasions during the season where circumstances prevent this from happening and play will take place on the carpet green or in exceptional circumstances, suspended altogether.
• Members may organise their own roll-ups or individual practice any day of the week providing there is a green available.

A variety of opportunities exist for players to represent Browns Bay by playing in various competitions both home and away, throughout the season. Check the dates and the various
BNH competitions at the start of our playing programme. Conditions of entry and the entry sheets will appear on the noticeboard well ahead of these events – we strongly encourage players to put their names forward for selection.
There are also BNH Centre events that players may enter as an individual or enter as a team. Enter via the Bowls North Harbour website. These Centre competitions are listed in our programme for your information. If you intend to play in a club championship, a Bowls North Harbour event or a Bowls New Zealand event, you will need to be registered with a Bowls Hub number. Please refer to the Bowls New Zealand website for more details.
BNH will have a handbook available with details of competitions including other club fixtures and contacts.
