APOmembersrealizeandhonetheir leadershipskillsastheyplanand executevolunteerprojectsandfellowship opportunities.Whilemanyorganizations, includingsocialGreekfraternities,provide socialevents,andsomeofferintermittent service-relatedactivities,APOisuniquein itsfocusonleadershipdevelopmentthrough service.
Thetimeisnowtoinvestinthenext generationofleaders.TheAPOLeadership InstitutewilltakeourCardinalPrinciplesto participatinghighschools,withanemphasis onreachingurbanareasandconnecting existingchapterswithhighschool administrators.




APOwilluseanear-peermodel,where anindividualwhoisoneortwostages aheadinalearningspectrumassistsasa mentor.Thiswillenhancehighschool student’sunderstandingoftheprocessto attendcollege,andhelpthemexplorethe possibilityoffutureAPOmembership.It willalsoincreaseAPO’sserviceimpact anddevelopmoreleaderstoimprove localcommunities.




Sectional,regional,andnationalconferencesprovide attendeeswithopportunitiestofosterrelationships withmembersfromacrossthecountry.Theseevents createconnectionsthatcanlastalifetime.
Conferenceshelpchaptersgrowthroughimproved membershiprecruitmentandretainment, introductiontonewandimprovedprogramming, greaterunderstandingofformalmeetingprocedures, andongoingcommunicationandengagementwith membersfromotherchaptersandalumnivolunteers.
Atconferences,newfriendshipsareforged,networks arebuiltandstrengthened,andthevalueofthe brotherhoodisreinforced.
LeadingtheWaywillprovidefundingsomorestudents willbeabletotakeadvantageofAPO’sconferences.














Opportunitiesfornationalleadership developmentprogramsappearrapidlyand providetrainingandleadershipexperiences asinexpensivelyaspossible.Creating anendowmentdedicatedtoleadership programmingwillensurethatvaluable resourcesareavailablewithoutworryof havingtoburdenstudentmemberswith additionalexpense.Thisnewendowment wouldalsobeavailableforchaptersto provideuniqueleadershipdevelopment programming.
LeadingtheWaywillcreateanendowment that,whenfullyfunded,willgenerate $125,000ayeartobeusedforleadership programming.
TheTorchbearerFund,whichdepends onsustainedannualgivingfromdonors, supportsAPO’sday-to-dayoperationswhile keepingstudentfeesreasonable.Thefund providesrevenueforincreasedchapter support,memberservices,communications andleadershipprogramssuchasNational ServiceWeek,SpringYouthServiceDay andAPOLEADS,theFraternity’snational leadershipdevelopmentcourses.
LeadingtheWaywillprovidethreeyearsof fundingsupportforAPO’sregularongoing programs.
