Gender-Neutral Twilight Princess

Last week, Nintendo introduced The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD for the Wii U. As an HD remaster of a decade old GameCube/Wii game, the visuals are visually much clearer and the new GamePad controls are outstanding, but there is a long standing grammatical bug which nonetheless remains: female players that decide to rename Link with their very own brand continue to be awkwardly called male by a lot of the characters in the game. Link's actual physical look and grunting vocalizations do not truly identify Link as a certain gender, and there is nothing at all in the story of the game which usually requires the hero being specifically male. This is important since male major heroes are abundantly overrepresented in games that are popular.

I've happy memories of playing through the first Twilight Princess when it was launched for the GameCube in 2006. As a well used school gamer, I am not a huge follower of motion controls and I favor the accuracy and comfort associated with a regular controller. I believe the old GameCube edition of Twilight Princess still holds up very well nowadays, therefore I thought we would gender neutral hack it
